Price Reduced! This is a 1978 Atari Space Riders a fully shopped PROJECT. Good news is I love to clean up playfields and this one came out great. I did a full tear down shop out which included cleaning the playfield the right way and then waxed and polished the playfield until it was nice and glossy. I am way OCD with my playfields no globs of wax stuck to plastics. I Novus cleaned and polished all of the plastics which are in great shape. Only one is cracked the apron plastic. All of the hardware and metal parts were run through the tumbler and came out shiny and glossy. I replaced a lot of the hardware and all others were run through the tumbler. The acorn post caps are new. The rubber ring kit is new and the original plastic posts were tumbled and then Novus cleaned and polished. The back-glass is in beautiful condition no flaking. The cabinet is in really good shape the colors are vibrant no flaking paint. The legs I cleaned and scrubbed with brillo pads to get the rust off then I custom painted them a stainless steel paint. The feet and leg bolts are new. I have new spinner decals that are in the pictures which are included with the game as well as some extra wiring harness pins.
Now lets get to the project side of this machine. The game does turn on and sorta boots up the connects are not good so it is flaky. The displays all work which is good news. All fuses have been replaced and the direct wire hacks to the board have been cleaned up. I cleaned all the tarnish off of the connector points with an eraser until the contact were shiny. I repinned the wires that been hacked direct wired to the board connector as well as replaced several damaged pins. I secured the pins into place and then hot glued the wiring harness so that loose pins would not slip out. This brings us to the real project which to get this game fully running you will probably need to repin a lot the harnesses. These Atari wiring harnesses are as bad as Gottlieb system 80. I am not in the business of rewiring harness and putting the hours into making sure all of the contact are flush etc. Some board work may need to be done once you have your connections up but I have not gotten that far. So I have done the all the shop out beatification now it is time for phase two of this project you who wants to take a great looking machine and make it work! Lots of pictures included so you know what you get.
