Happidrome Arcade

Arcade completely refurbished as of May 2015, and it is by far the best one in Southend (unless you prefer playing £500 jackpot fruit machines!)

The machines remain in a row at the back of the arcade, lit from the side so no glare on playfield and they're cranked up loud. Best location to play pinball in Southend. Machines aren't perfect, but all still play good games.

UPDATE: All machines are now 50p a go, which is fair as the games, formerly 30p a go, have been fixed and play much better than before. Owner likes to ask how the games are playing; he feels that Batman 'looks better than it plays' due to it's brutal difficulty and that (surprisingly) the Indiana Jones is his personal favourite! Doctor Who is, at least currently, no longer in the arcade.

Games list

Last updated on 2016-06-22 20:12:43

The following games are listed for this location.

Bally, 1994

50p a game. This is the one on the left. Isn't gold, but there are two Addams machines here! Flippers have been rebuilt and are strong, but the upper left flipper occasionally sticks, which can affect Thing Flips shots. Left ramp switch has dropped down meaning the diverter doesn't kick in, but this doesn't effect play too much. Working magnets, though the inserts don't light. Very loud, especially knocker. Edit comment

Bally, 1992

50p a game. This is the one on the right. Flippers have been rebuilt and are strong, Magnets aren't working but otherwise plays a good game. Volume is kinder to the ears than the AF to Batman's left. Edit comment

Data East, 1991

50p a game. A few extra lines lit on dmd. Left flipper no longer sticks. No replay value at present- however, an extra ball is earned if you score enough points. The plunger is currently weak, making skill shots very difficult, but the auto shooter still works fine. Game is in good condition otherwise, especially given its age. Edit comment

Stern, 2008

50p a game. Loud and plays well. Occasionally the autofire is too weak to make the ark so you have to help it out. Edit comment
