The Baxter Bar and Arcade

UPDATE 9/2016: They have stopped leasing games from a local op, who put in all the new and A-list titles. What's left is not nearly as good. Hope they step it up and get some better pins in there themselves if they no longer want to work with a third party. In the meantime this has gone from destination to so-so.

Machines range from 50 cents, 75 cents, or $1 per game.

No food but you can bring in food from outside (burgers and pizza just around the corner) and eat it there. Various local beers, liquor, and wine are available.

This is an amazing place...3 pinballs (a 4th is coming soon) PLUS over 40 arcade games from the 80's and 90's, all in their original cabinets! Pinballs are 50 cents per play, all video games are only 25 cents!

This place is pretty cool. T3 and Demo Man both play very well. T2 is dim and brutal. Indy's scoop hole switch was broken so you constantly had to wait for a ball search when it went into either scoop. I think every arcade game I played played well, and most have good screens. Volume was basically nothing on both arcade games and pinball.

The main problem is the coin mechs. I had a lot of quarters eaten here (in Demo Man especially for pinball). For a place that opened a week ago, I feel like they should have working coin mechs. That's an important part of not frustrating your customers. Hopefully they can clean or replace them. They also only have one old coin changer that only takes $1 bills, so make sure to bring singles or your own quarters if you don't want to wait for the bar to break your bills.

I went on Friday night and it was very full (it's a couple blocks away from UNC) but not so bad that you can't get on games. Pinball seemed like one of the most popular things there, hopefully that means more machines!

Edit: Haven't had coin mech issues the last couple times I went, looks like this has been sorted.

They just got a NIB TWD Pro! I hope the new pinball train keeps on rolling!

T2 out, LOTR in. TWD up to $1.25 now. The game must be killing it. Also all games on superbands now, meh.

TWD is still only .75 a game. If you insert more than 3 quarters, it will assume you are putting in $2.00 for 3 credits.

The Baxter is a great place with a friendly staff. I think that you must become a member, though. Not very kid-friendly (this is not Dave & Buster's, it's very much a bar with games in it). I only play the pins, but they're usually all in 100% working order, and things that break actually get fixed. Avoid going on weekend nights; the place gets packed.

Nice place! You don't have to be a member, they just ask you to write your name down at the door as a formality. Games are all 50 cents. Pingulps on every game. Kids are welcome on Sundays 12-5.

NIB Game of Thrones LE set up today. Fancy stuff!

i heard a pretty solid rumor that this place is getting space jam pin soon... other than that, i went there three days ago and they have attack from mars turns back on again and mostly working... i think it still wasn't registering the saucer hits properly though. i still have a lot of fun here. i hope they add even more pins soon.

Haunted House added as of 8/4! Hooray!

Didn't see Walking Dead or Game of Thrones last night.

Pinball machines were all in poor condition, multiple flippers broken, lights not working etc. Won't be going back

Machines seem to be in better condition. Demolition Man and Pinbot played very well. Guardians, Deadpool, and Metallica cost $1 per game, but are in excellent condition.

Everything I played worked, they had someone in there fixing things when I arrived.
Lineup as listed today looks correct.

Removed Space Jam added Independence Day. X-Files and Independence Day had issues where ball was being stuck in scoops etc. X-Files definitely needs a cleaning. Most machines in decent shape, but all could use a cleaning. Tokens only.
