Had a great time here, can't wait to go back! Awesome selection of machines to play and they're all in excellent condition. The owners are really nice too.

What a great place. Got an all day pass and just went back and forth between pinball and the pub next door. Every machine was flawless. Owner is very nice and enjoys chatting about pinball. Cant wait to go back!

Unique location in the energetic Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. It's unheard of to see so many well maintained pinballs from many eras in one place. A must visit for any pinball enthusiast. I get my fix at least once a week. I'm lucky.

I was in the City for Chinese New Year, and convinced my girlfriend to visit Modern Pinball with me. We had a nice time, although sadly the owner was not in so we didn't get a chance to talk more in-depth about pinball like I would have hoped! Machines seem pretty well maintained, the newer ones anyway. Any games past mid 80's seemed to show decent wear all around. You could easily tell which games were the favorites :)
Overall a really cool place, they allowed you to pay for a "freeplay wristband" $12 for 1 hr, $19 for 3 hrs, $29 day pass (good until closing) which seemed fair, although I sadly didn't have the time to play! :'( next time...

They also offer a 10% discount to Students & Seniors which is always nice to see! Overall it's a great place, probably the best pinball gameroom in New York. I hope to visit it again soon

Very nice place. The manager was very kind with me. All Pinball are in perfect condition, except Terminator that was off. Also the price is accessible since I played free play for 2 hours and paid (I think) $ 17 . It is easy to arrive and a very quiet area. I 'll be back....

Very saddened of the bad experience we had there this week. As one of the only comprehensive pinball establishment in the NYC area was shocked at the condition of the machines, especially the flippers, which badly need to be replaced, even on the more recent Stern machines. Bram Stoker's Dracula was as a prime example of this malady but strong flippers were not present on any of the machines. It really was a chore to make the rounds. The collection does NOT include MM, MB, TAF, TOTAN, LotR, TOM, CV, AFM, CC, CFTBL nor two of the recent JJP titles (DIALED IN is there however), so any serious pinball afficianado has to really take pause. The people who work there are very nice and one was attended to a few of the machines, but with ineffective flippers on virtually all the games, this was really a bust. The meticulously maintained machines at the Sunshine Laundromat in Brooklyn (a bigger and far more appealing lot with all the ones missing from MODERN there in their beauty and with strong flippers (.75 a game but fair enough considering what you are getting) and the magnificent Pinball Museum in Asbury Park are the go-to places in the area for the true pinball experience.

It is great to see a dedicated pinball spot and the prices are very reasonable. That said, while they do have a good selection of machines, they aren't as well maintained as they could be. I found a lot of the games to be extremely dark and some of the flippers were weak or skewed. I can't imagine how difficult it is to maintain machines that get this much play, but nevertheless it was the one and only complaint I had.

We went on 9/15/2018 and at least half the games were in bad shape. The Dialed In had a left flipper that was constantly fluttering when you held down the button, so you couldn’t cradle. The Shadow was turned off. Only a few were worth playing like the Star Trek and Aerosmith.

There really is no excuse for the condition of the games here. Anything that wasn't new is in desperate need of cleaning, rubbers, and flipper rebuilds.

At $15/hr it's more expensive than if you played as you went.

For a "museum" they need to take much better care of their exhibits.

Addams Family rubbers (white...):

These are the same conditions on all machines older than 6 months.

It's a great space and idea and just needs upkeep and maintenance. The operator has also set the flipper alignment low, which I don't like, personally.

Man oh man... Filthy pins... Nice staff but just not a very well kept collection...Most of the machines were in bad need of a good shop job, thorough cleaning and a complete rubber replacement, some flipper rubber were completely black on both sides (once red)... Very dark in most of the machines and overhead lighting that caused glare on most pins... Frustrating experience.. the only good pins that seemed to have some life in them were Kiss, Dialed In, Deadpool, and maybe Game of Thrones, everything else is just old and busted... Visited once, won't make the trip again without some positive future reviews
