MOM's Organic Market

Dedicated pinball room off to the side of pretty big organic food market and small carry-out restaurant. Pinball machines are all set to 50 cents and in very nice condition. There are a handful of classic arcades including Galaga, Donkey Kong, and a Williams Multi-cade. Some games seem to rotate between VUK and here. Overall the biggest and nicest collection of public machines in the DC area, and by far the earliest opening. Pinball machines are located behind a curtain on the left hand wall of the Grocery Store behind the bread counter.

All games 50 cents per play and well maintained. They shut them off if they're not playing right, and seem to try to fix things right away.

Nice atmosphere with dim lighting and plenty of room. Part of the VUK operation based in Bethesda.

Shaker motor in Dialed In; used in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. Great effect.

One classic arcade game but I don't recall what it was. Might've been a multicade.

Plenty of parking and easy to get to off the Beltway. Definitely worth a special trip to play so many nice pins on location.

Had a great time at this location on Sunday. It opens the same time as the grocery store, and I got there right around when it opened.

I had to ask where it was since it is sort of in a hidden location, which kind of adds to the atmosphere of it being this hidden gym. Loads of space between the machines and behind them.

All games look great, and were very clean. Lighting was perfect. Lots of variety and great selection of games.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to drink alcohol there.

By far the best pinball location I've ever been to. I will definitely make the trip back up there on monthly basis.

Finally got to check this place out today and it was well worth the trip. A fantastic lineup of machines all priced at 50 cents a game. Machine are in pretty good shape, some could use new rubber or slight adjustments but when there are this many great machines it's easy to nit pick. Tons of parking and very easy to find, I'll be back for sure!

This is a must visit for anyone in the DC area. Parking is a cinch and is free. Location is in the College Park region in Maryland. There are over 30 wonderful tables as well as a change machine. My son and I went on a Monday late morning and essentially had the place to ourselves. Several people did meander in-and-out, including a mother and her 5 year old that love to play wizard of oz. We spent $20 for over 2 hours of lots of fun on tables that were in fabulous shape. Lighting was excellent. We could actually hear our games! I want to go back today, but we have to visit inlaws...

Just wow! Deserted on a weekday afternoon - lots of fun well-maintained machines, a mix of older and newer ones. They have a league also.

Made the trip out to Mom's in College Park from DC for the first time. My only complaint about this place is that it's not closer to DC! Super clean facility, with lots of places to sit down and eat.... Spacious. Vast, actually, with great lighting. See the pics.

There was only one machine turned off (F14 Tomcat), and the dozen or so I tried were terrific. Terrific, but not perfect:

TNA countdown clock was on the fritz, and Grand Prix briefly got confused about how many balls there were per game (7? Maybe 8?). The volume on TNA is set way too low. This is actually a complaint, I guess. The soundtrack is such a big part of the game. So:

Please turn up the volume on Total Nuclear Annihilation.

Eight Ball Deluxe and Centaur were a blast. The mylar on Centaur is bubbling a bit, but it didn't affect gameplay.

I love the mix of old and new here, and to see 10+ EM and early SS pins playing like these do is quite special. And then to have a bunch of Jersey Jack pins plus all of the other crowd favorites... good grief. Way too much to take in on one visit.

I live less than a mile from Lyman's, so Mom's will never be a regular spot for me, but wow, what a treat.

(Big parking lot - it's in a strip mall. As noted above, the pinball arcade is on the left behind the bread. There's a change machine that takes 1s through 20s. There's no ATM, but you can get cash back if you buy something at the store. The carry out counter in the store is vegetarian and vegan only. No pizza and burgers here, folks.)
