Super Glad to own this theme. Love working my way through the playfield.
Art is beautiful!
I will always own this pinball machine.
Callouts are fantastic and the Munchkins are a blast if you can reach them.
Great well rounded game.

It was, and still is to this day in late 2019, the most beautiful pinball ever made in my opinion. The wide body with the ever-swirling candy-colored LEDs, and the spinning house up on a platform above the bright RAINBOW targets (among many other features) looks like a fantasy world under glass, like you're in an art museum looking at an exhibit.

As far as how WOZ plays, though, is another matter. Some days I love it and other days less so. There's a nice variety of shots from easy to difficult, two raised playfields that aren't hard to get to but difficult to complete (well, the castle, anyway), and the two different outlane ball save features are nothing short of brilliant ideas. The rule set is also nicely simple on the surface yet very deep underneath, appealing to both novices and veterans. But some days WOZ can be a lot of floating, it can feel like you're watching as much as you're playing, and this is a heavy, finicky machine that is often set up incorrectly or just malfunctioning in public. Its hulking weight (350 lbs.) also makes it a bit difficult to nudge. First few times I played it in public right after it came out, at two different locations, the flippers were weak and the table pitch was too flat, leading to some boring, confusing games. But set up in home or at a location where they take pride in their pins, WOZ is unlike anything else out there. It's really a work of art, but like all JJPs, it needs tweaking and a quiet environment to bring out its best.

I owned this for a little under a year. The prettiest pinball machine in my collection or that I've ever seen. Problem is, it isn't a great shooter or that much fun IMO.

I give JJP credit for innovation here. The LCD screen, lighting, and sheer number of toys and features are beyond any pin I've owned or seen. However, I found WOZ a bit clunky and despite the fact it was great eye candy, when I turned my pins on, I rarely found myself wanting to hit the start button and play it.

It can have a lot of cheap outlane drains you often have little to no control over as well. It was more of an expensive show piece that I could never get into which is why I recently decided to sell it and move on.

If you like the WOZ movie and theme, you'll probably appreciate this pin more then I did. I never could warm up to the theme or the gameplay.

Stunning game. As rich as anything I have ever seen. Hard to believe it was a start up's first game. A playable piece of art. Easily the most beautiful cabinet I have seen. Fantastic technology.

First, as a baseline, TAF and TZ and CFTBL are the most modern pins I have owned, so I'm a bit skewed admittedly. Also, my family has always been WOZ obsessed. My girls have sung and given quotes, impersonations all their life. So I am definitely biased. I realize it is not a macho theme, and may not be for everyone.

I bought a relatively stock WOZECLE. On to the micro review:

I rated the WoZ a 9.480...slightly ahead of TZ, so I think it is at the pinnacle of pinball design. I am truly amazed that JJP was able to launch such a fantastic product out of the gate. They all should be proud.

I think the artwork is just that, artwork. Absolutely the most beautiful cabinet I have ever seen/had. The direct print method + clearcoat is stunning. Maybe the backglass is lacking, but the LCD animation really makes up for it. Speaking of which, the integration of original movie clips tweaked for pinball rules is truly amazing. As I said, my reference for tech is WPC, so it is just incredible to me what is possible. The sparkle green armor, wood apron and lit header really round it out as premium.

The playfield has a lot going on. The 'toys' are pretty neat. I will say the crystal ball video is the weakest. It is very difficult for me to catch the image. You have to be at the perfect angle. It is also a dark playfield. My basement is also dark, so I will be installing some overhead LED lighting. The playfield lights however are incredible. The way they change with what is going on in the game is really cool. (Remember, I took a whole decade off!). I

As far as pinball playability, I see a lot of similarities to my old TZ. It is challenging enough, (sometimes frustrating) and the rules and objectives seem pretty deep. I'm only 50 games in, but I'm going to bet it will be fun long term. I know the outlanes can be frustration personified, but I like the minigame save feature!

Finally, the menu system is very intuitive and well thought out. I have already upgraded to the latest code.

All in all, I think it is a really fun game with one of the best theme integrations I have seen in pinball. Personally, I think it is ranked low at 21.

The only thing that I like about this game is the old school scoring. You do not get like 40 million points for making a shot like some of the newer games. The videos on the backglass during the gameplay is a distraction. The shots are are ok. Also, since it is themed pin, they could have done something interesting with the MATCH feature. At the 2 locations that I played this machine, it titled really really easily.

I've been fortunate enough to have a few friends with WOZ in their collections, and I'm always drawn to it. It has one of the best light shows on a pinball machine in my opinion, but I will say it's tough to see the playfield in a dimly lit room. When it comes to playfield layout, WOZ is really unique. Both mini upper playfields have fun shots and don't ever strike me a gimmicky (love the loops on the right upper playfield). The flying monkey taking the ball up to the left upper playfield is awesome (it's a shame JJP didn't put this on the YBR edition). The uniqueness of the ball save modes from left and right outlane drains is always a lot of fun, even though I have never pulled off the "no place like home" save. All in all, WOZ is a super unique game that I always love flipping.

when I started playing pinball about 2 years ago I had this dislike to the OZ game. NOW I can't get enough. not only have i rewatched the movie and became a fan of it all over but now this game brings a whole new level of enjoyment. everytime I play my scores get better and better. I unlock more and more modes. "weak flippers" "no hold flippers" pain in the ass but make playing this game a blast. When the playing field lights up its like no other game out there. the side alley-toto noplace like home what a great challange to get you to keep playing. super cool feature. if anyone out there reads this review and simpley want to give me their wizard Oz PIn just because i would be oh so great full. this is my bucket list of must own. its just so pricy to buy one.

I think this is the best looking machine Ive ever seen. I feel like my only complaint is that it has too much going on, but you can never have too much!!

Not usually a fan of upper play fields and this one has two of the best integrated upper play fields I've ever seen. The munchkin loop with the spinning house is very gratifying to loop it up. The castle door is difficult to get the hang of but makes Rescue Multiball that much more lucrative to achieve.

Crystal ball modes add an awesome challenge, especially with the "No Hold" and "Weak" flipper variations. The no hold flipper screws me over more than any of the other ones but deservingly so when I instinctively try to trap a ball not paying attention.

Awesome light show, great sound except for the screaming witch can get abrasive after a while. Anyone who rates this game low needs to put more time on it. Will stay in the top 100 for a very long time.

The JJP that started it all. The EC, RE and YBR are true examples of how beautiful a pinball machine can be. The lighting is truly breathtaking. Rules are pretty simple to learn but game is near impossible to master. I’ve owned the game for over a year now and only reached the first wizard mode a handful of times. Truly one of the best machines out there a must play.

A beautiful table with outstanding color, music, and visuals. There are several great shots and mini-modes -- but it takes a high degree of accuracy to nail some of the targets (RAINBOW, I am looking at you -- and it's odd to have to hit targets on the way down the drain). The video DMD is excellent with awesome cut scenes from the film and excellent sound. My only gripe is that the music can get a bit repetitive with the instrumental "We're Off to See the Wizard" playing until your ears bleed. Still, the color, the light show, and the callouts are cool.

My wife literally wants to play WOZ every day. This and Dialed In are her two go-to games now. The toys and features are very attractive to non-players and players alike. The shots aren't typical to most pins, just very straightforward (if that's the best way to describe it?). The features of saving a lost ball with TOTO escape and TNPLH are a nice touch and the rules are extremely deep when you start to put it all together. I highly recommend this game for the wife and kids, but I occasionally enjoy it as well. Nevertheless, an impressive title from JJP, especially considering it was their first machine.

Beautiful game with a fantastic theme. There are just so many shots and so much to do in this pin. GREAT choice for a home lineup.

Though it has an awesome and accessible theme, I have been intimidated by Oz just by how much is on the playfield and the complex rules. It can be a bit overwhelming. But once I committed to spend some real time with it, the game's charms opened up to me and I found myself hooked and wanting to try and master it. And let me just say -- "No Place Like Home" is such a dreamy, beautiful mode. Amazing.

I played this machine at Double Pinball in Italy for Pre Ifpa 16, but I didn't like it. It has nice artwork and toys, but game is really boring. Ball is so slow, there are too few shots and poorly set and has unclear rules. This is only the first JJP game, Stern made really mediocre games at first too (like Striker Xtreme and Playboy), so Jersey Jack is improving (It made nice machines like Dialed In and Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory)

I played the Yellow Brick Road edition (I realize that's listed separately, but everyone is putting their ratings on this page). This game was really, really good. I never saw WOZ (I know, pretty sad), and I was more amped up to play Wonka, but this game firmly established itself as the most impressive JJP game I have played. There are so many toys and neat features, so many shots, and so many great things going on with the backglass LCD screen. The flippers on the particular machine I played were a bit weak, but the shots were still achievable, and man, are there ever shots to hit on this game. I think any WOZ will be able to say that this is the perfect tribute to it (I know I haven't seen it, but I know the plot and iconic aspects of it, and they're all in the game). I'm so glad that a local buddy of mine has one so I can continue to play it.

I am a big fan of the movie and this pin is fabulous to watch and play. Original movie clips are great (need more) and the layout is great. Top play fields and multiple flippers are great. This is definitely a family friendly pin unless you don’t like flying monkeys (especially if they drop your ball).

Con- price. Also, quite a different theme from most pinball machines (pro or con). Some of the shots seemed too repetitive- a lot of up the middle.

Overall- Fabulous gorgeous game.

This machine is a true masterpiece! Picked one up after reading mixed reviews on durability and I am glad that I did! WOZ is an entire world under a sheet of glass. After owning it for awhile now, I don't see this machine ever leaving my collection.

An amazing game that changed the course of pinball as we know it. JJP is innovating every time they do a game and this game started it all. A true world under glass.

There’s a lot to shoot for in this game. It’s a very family-friendly theme, but it might not not be a theme for everyone. The music suits it well, but you’d hope there’d be more lights as it’s a little dark. The movie clips fit well, and being the first game with an LCD, it was a welcomed innovation. I like the fact there are a couple of spots for physical ball locks, and even some unique outlane saves. Since it’s a widebody, there’s a a lot packed into it.

Review After 1 month of owning it :

One of the pest pins ever made ! Sold MM to get it so i had high standards and I am very happy with the trade.

Pros:
- Top 3 best family themed pins
-It is an work of art, beautiful
-so many cool toys
-it is packed
-code is very deep, lots to do, fun and challenging
-light show
-good use of the mini playfields, they are fun
-stacking is good
-melting the witch mode is a lot of fun

Cons
- a bit dark
- call outs are fine, music is ok
- mine is # 466, so far so good but it is still a question mark how much I will spend over time to keep everything working.
-get to the final wizard ? Hopefully someday
-WOZ is timeless but some may like marvel and more recent licenses. It works great for my family
-I had to add mylar to the heavy traffic areas, mine is one of the earlier playfields.
