Nothing much to praise here.
Gameplay:
The progress inserts are cool.
You need to time your saucers when you're right at the island you want to be at. Otherwise you won't get a special. It can be pretty frustrating. Modern pinball design philosophy says that players don't like it when their progress is made worthless like that. But who cares about specials anyway? Are you playing this game on coin play? Probably not, right? I'm never certain whether or not to penalize a game for being special-focused. I just don't get that much out of special-centric games.
I will admit the theme/gameplay integration is pretty impressive for an EM.
Will add more thoughts later. To-do: Compass Directions
Edit: I forgot that a lot of EMs can be set to have Specials award points instead of replays. So these rulesets are not as unsuitable for tournament play or free play as I thought.
