Nice game , fast and flow ( Steve Ritchie ), wide Playfield and very open. Outlanes horrendous. Great theme. If your a fan of the series its a top 10 game. Not super fast and has deep rule set. Play filed is not really great to look at

I want to love this game but I just can't get into it. It looks fantastic, has a great playfield, great sound, I loved the series, but I absolutely despise the slings and the outlanes which ruin this game. I like difficult games but STTNG feels like it was designed to drain balls unfairly. The slingshot design in this game is so ridiculous it ruins the game. The top of the sling is huge and has rubber on it so that any ball that gets stuck in that area is almost guaranteed to roll off into the outlane which is situated much lower than the top of the slingshot. The left outlane is metal and shaped like HSII so any ball headed there is worse off than the right outlane. To make matters worse, the kickback isn't lit at the beginning of a game and lighting it puts the ball in danger. The price that this game commands combined with the slings makes STTNG a game I have no desire to own, ever.

What can I say about this one ... my favorite possibly of all time. I must have played fifty games on the one at the arcade in Seaside, OR. I keep coming back to it trip after trip. It just sucks me in. I do like the theme, but beyond that I love the choice of missions and rule types. It's just great fun!

This machine blows me away! Great great pinball adaption of a TV license! There is so much to see on the playfield, simply love the toys and models of all kinds of spaceships on the playfield! Excellent music and speech, lights and ramps on this WIDEBODY! All the details are so well designed that you actually get the impression of being the captain of a real ST mission and I would claim that
STTNG is not a pinball machine on Star Trek, it IS Star Trek!
One of my absolute favorites! This pinball machine turned me into a Star Trek fan... Engage!

Star Trek:TNG is one of those games where everything comes together. The sound, the shots and the rules are fantastic. They got all the voices of the main characters on the show to participate on this one. Out of all the Star Trek pinball games, this is the best one by miles, er, warp factor 9.7!

The Pros:
A Great game that takes you on a journey in the world of Star Trek. Really, I'm serious. I could get deeper into why this game is great, but I'm just going to go with the single sentence above. Normally I'm not up for video modes, but this one has not just one.. but two secret video modes in it. The Picard maneuver separates the men from the boys (I'm still stuck in puberty by this definition). Ball control skills are a must as the outlanes gobble anything that gets within 6 inches of them. The voice calls are perfect. Humor is abundant in the modes and are even better when you lose the ball when you shouldn't. This deck OOOZES character. Getting the entire cast on board is a definite coup for this title. The cannons are way sweet and are even better with the laser pointer mods that you can get for this game. I usually don't go for mods, but this one adds to the play and works perfectly with the Sci-Fi theme. The ramps are well placed and a shot to the borg ship is tough and SOOOO satisfying when nailed spot on. It gets even better when multiball starts and the ball is spit at the flippers from the upper reaches of this deck. Multiball uses the cannons as well as the spinner to keep the mode "fed" using the analogy of battle (with the Borg) better than any other game that I can think of. The Final Frontier is always a rush when reached.

The Cons:
The game needs to be maintained very well to play properly. Videomode NEEDS an randomizer or at least a few different layouts with the tunnels (LLRRLLRLRL...). Tourney players often "timeout" shots to get to the Final Frontier without really playing the game. Not the biggest fan of the half and half BG (lower half, the cast... upper half, random trek stuff) Greg Freres probably had the actor's agents looking over his shoulder (curse of DM), and I know that he can whip up masterpieces. Still a better composed BG on this deck would have been nice. Wish the cannons had more to do in the game (as in the final frontier?!?)... but they DO break down... These cons are all minor compared to the amount of RIGHTEOUS put into this game, so please note that these are small quips in relation to the massive multitude of positives that this game possesses.

The Takeaway:
I will have one in my stable someday. Steve Ritchie's best, hands down.

Update:
This table is still my favorite Star Trek Design. The new S/W on the Stern version is AWESOME. But this table just has that incredible B/W feel that epitomizes the DMD golden age that we have all know to represent the time when pinball was the best! With all sincerity, I love me some Star Trek, and both of these designs fit the bill.

This is a very 'busy' game! So much to do, so many toys that at times it can almost be too much. There is so much on the playfield that you actually don't see the ball too often...and there are so many shots to make.
I will be honest, I am not a very skilled player, so at times it can get frustrating because I can't achieve the objectives...
The theme is executed wonderfully on this game. The voices and music are done to a "T"

STTNG, to me, is the pinnacle of pinball design (so far). This game has everything. Great flow, great rules, great sound, and a whole lot of fun. Everything they put in this game brings the theme to life and makes me feel like I'm on the bridge of the Enterprise when I play.

Tried to get into this one but just couldn't. Seemed like too much multiball going on and I was just mashing flippers trying to keep the balls in play.

Wasn't bad, just thought it was a chore to play.

I think this may be the best execution of theme out there. This game feels like an episode of the tv show. In addition, unlike many newer games, each mode seems unique. It does not feel like a rinse and repeat formula. It is especially nice not only having the missions which you must progress through to get to the wizard mode, but also the neutral zone modes which help keep the gameplay fresh.

Super game I had never played this machine until I had a chance to buy one. I sure am glad I pulled the trigger on this one. Sttng is great fun and possibly the best executed themed game in all of pinball.

This game so captures the Star Trek series. I love the gun turrets, Borg multiball, sounds and the choices in modes. Awesome that you can choose your mode. Widebody done right. One that should be priced higher considering what it offers. Never leaving my collection.

This is a great pinball game whether you are a huge Star Trek fan or not. The borg ship and the gun turrets are awesome and the diversity of shots and modes is stellar. I feel like I understand the rules, but I know that they are extremely complex and it makes me want to keep playing the game to learn more. When the lighting is done right, this is one of the most beautiful machines available. This is a must play title and it is definitely worthy of its super pin distinction.

Perfection in a pinball machine. The best pin ever made. It has it all, rules, theme, sounds, difficulty, depth and more.

I love Star Trek, and all the elements from the show come together in the pin, but I find that there is simply way too much going on on the playfield to enjoy the game. You got some good attractive lighting, and the call outs and music are very authentic, but simply to many ramps, PF is too cluttered IMO, and the game rules are a bit hard to follow. I prefer a more simplistic layout, still a good game if you like the 90's pins

When I played it for the first time many years ago I didn't liked ist very much. But over the years I played it more and now I think it's one of the best games out there. But I think the playfield Artwork is ugly. I hope sometime SR will bring out a new one.

STTNG is a fantastic game. Voiced by the entire cast of the TV show, it fits the theme better than any other themed pinball machine I've played. If you like Star Trek then this game elevates to 11/10.

Theme aside the shots are amazingly satisfying, ramping up to Warp 9.9 with Picard maneuvers (hitting the super spinner and then the delta ramp) is arguably the best combo shot in all of pinball. Each time you make the combo you can feel the tension, excitement & adrenalin rising to make the next one.

In terms of difficulty STTNG is extremely challenging but also rewarding, the points scored for successfully completing modes is well worth it - with a nice big wizard mode bonus waiting at the end. But the balance of scoring is spot on all round, allowing you to play multiballs, warps or even just hitting ramps if you want to & still post a decent total. Conversely the game is heart-breakingly punishing to wayward or bricked shots, with lots of balls SDTM and maybe the least forgiving side drains of any game in the era. This is truly a great game to both test & build your skills.

For buyers out there definitely go for it, you won't regret it. Be careful with your purchase though as STTNG is a very complicated machine with lots of optos & things that go wrong - get a restored machine!

This is my second favorite game of all time. A nice Tommy came up and I decided to trade it planning to pick up another one someday. I still plan to do so, but not until the bubble bursts and I can afford one.
