I have several Top 20 pins and this is one of the best. Spiderman delivers in every category. Its really fun, good flow, well integrated to the theme and is just plain fun. Unlike many pins, the voice callouts are great. The Actor, J K Simmons, who played Peter's boss in the movie has numerous funny things to say and other voices from the film are present as well. It has also held up very well to thousands of plays with little to no wear. The shots have a nice feel to them but aren't to hard for the casual player. Thumbs waaaaay up!

One of my favorite Stern machines next to Indiana Jones, Tron, and AC/DC. Looks great with Cointaker LED's.

I own a Spiderman a long time, and I liked it. Im such kind of pinball fan who do not read the manual and the rules, I wanna play. After a long time I watched the PAPA Youtube tutorial and I recognized that I didnt know one of the main feature.
The white missions give you the chance to set multiplier (2x, 3x) to ramps, lanes and doc oc...
oh man, thats very cool.
Since this happened I like my Spiderman much more...
Now the game has the "one more game" effect.

Nice flow, good looking Marvel theme, not so easy to beat, Wizard Mode, decision making...

Spiderman is a great game :)

A machine with great flow and challenge. Getting 2x/3x shots makes scoring really interesting and modes worth playing. Great stacking possibilities and nice wizard mode.

Great game, just a little too easy out of the box with default settings. Remove all posts, set on hard settings to give yourself a better challenge.

This game is a ton of fun! Remember AFM... This game is more fun IMHO.

This is a really fun game. I was able to play it in Las Vegas at the Pinball Hall of Fame however the upper flipper was broken so I didn't get the FULL challenge ... Hope to find it somewhere else and continue on the Spider-Man journey.
Played this again at the TPF ... had to up my rating as this game just gets better and better

Stern Spiderman is a great playing game. I was just not as into it as much as other Stern gmaes. Upon recent review... this is changing. The more I play this game, the more I like it. As Martha would say... "It's a good thing..." and this is a really good pinball.

The Good: Artwork and theme are very well implemented. Bonesaaw! Great shot. Full on Steve Ritchie PF design! The ball does not stop moving until you get to the final wz mode. This game has FLOW! The integration of the theme is one of the best I have ever seen. Stack your modes and THEN hit a multiball for maximum playability. Double and Triple scoring shots are way sweet! This game is a players game and there is lots and lots to do. Stacking is king here and to get your first mode and then your Doc Oc... you pretty much need to hit every shot in the game from the start. The LE version has a rumble motor and the spiderweb flipper guards are perfect for this table. Kudos to Lyman and Co. for the revised (and revised and revised) code. Gary Stern... give this man a raise. Lyman and his like make your good games GREAT GAMES!

The Bad: Sounds are tinny and thin. Maybe turning up the sound will help. Or maybe upgraded speakers? Considering SR did World Poker tour... I thought the Green Goblin would have had drop targets. Movie clips on the DMD are muddy. Hit Doc Oc over and over and over.... The ramp from the upper right flipper either is super smooth or I just can't seem to hit the damn thing.

The Takeaway: A great design and a real players table. It took me a long time to "get" this game. Playing with some other pin-heads who I respected made me see even more great things about this deck. Sometimes the games can be long, but that's not always a bad thing. The best Stern games in my eyes: TSPP, LOTR, AC/DC and then Spiderman, WPT, Tron , Ripley's, after that, a bunch of games lumped together including: Monopoly, Family Guy, Iron Man, Avatar and X-men. The rest... I forget.

The more I play this game, the more I like AND respect it. This deck is a true player!

Update v2:
At the world championships I witnessed Jorian Engelbrektsson (Former PAPA champ and current world champ for 2014) utterly destroy this game with over 400 million on the first ball by hitting Doc Ock over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... This qualifies as an exploit to me and after having played this game with that strategy (and having found it successful), I have to significantly reduce the scores on gameplay and longevity. This is a good game, but not a great one and because of that, it joins the ranks of Medieval Madness and just about every game JPop ever produced. It's a damn shame too. Can I still play this game for fun... yes. But when the win is on the line... I'm shooting for Doc Ock again and again and again and again and again and again...

So disappointing. This game is off the wishlist.

Update v3:
Now that I have gotten over myself and played more of this game, it's great when you play the entire game. Can you still Doc Ock all day? Yes. But double/triple the right ramp and hit super hero... big points! This PF design just FEELS right. I still wish there was more to do with the shot under the upper right hand flipper, but man... it is really hard to find much fault in this deck. I like this game a lot and have re-upped my scores on it's rating.

My 2nd favorite Stern of all time!

Nice table, only I played it in a bar, 2 player with a friend and my first ball lasted over 20 mins, we both got bored and left it, definatley not a 2 player game but good as a home table.

My favorite Steve Ritchie game. My favorite Stern game. Spider-Man is a great theme, with a ton of great shots and ideas. This is no cash in, this game was made for both the casual and the hardcore players.

Played this guy for the first time in 2007 and left with the 'I don't get it' feel. Fast forward 5 years later and I went on a mission to find one...and see what all the hype is about. I have a tendency to grab machines that are well liked by the general pinball community...yet I can't seem to get into.

So I bought a SM and put another 30-40 games on it...still wasn't too impressed. It took about the 70 game mark before I really started understanding what was going on. Mode stacking, Multi-ball stacking..fast and furious. Just a brilliantly designed machine...what a treat to own

Other that the 3 drop target..I'm not sure how anyone can compare this game to AFM. AFM's target bank is the main 'toyshot'...it's almost an after though while playing SM. The fan layout is there...but used in a totally different manor compared to AFM.

Really good game. First chance to really play it was at a hotel we were at and we must've played it at least a dozen times. Very fun and addicting.

Love the pace and combos. Great rules and flow. Bought this NIB, had to sell, but back on my "to buy list" again.

Stern Spiderman was the first Stern game to really grab my attention. This is a geat looking machine, with lots of great shots. The flow in this game is a standard fan layout, but the inclusion of a third flipper for an upper ramp shot really rounds out the game and keeps it fun and interesting. There are a lot of modes to complete in this game, but fortunately the rule system allows you to stack multiple events, instead of using a timed based system, which keeps the gameplay frantic and exciting. Shot locations are always obvious with great light usage. The ball times are very long on this game, and it is really not suited to more then one player at a time. Beating the game is achieveable and very rewarding.

To me, this game is as close as it gets to creating a perfect pinball game: It has depth, flow, bells and whistles, and most importantly, it's fun. I personally prefer Iron Man as it is a more intense game, but Spider Man is a technical marvel that definitely belongs in a collection and is a contender as one of Stern's best.
