Good flow and great comic graphics. The Ritchie flow is excellent. Fun game.

Wasn’t impressed

The VE handedly defeats the film trilogy edition of this pin. The callouts are super cheesy. That being said my kids love them and talk along with them. This game is fast and furious. The middle post is helpful while not being an overt crutch.

I like the VE as the best of the bunch. The artwork is killer. The gameplay is great as well with tons of shots and goals to meet.

This should have been the only release. not a fan of Toby Maguire so i don't need him looking at me. I have been reading Spider-man for years and this is the best out there in the comic book machines. "spiders are lit" its go time. it's a great 3 flipper game. the feel of the game is a little bit clunky and not a soft as other stern games. but still a blast to play if your a comic book fan. a must have.

Well, it's Stern's Spiderman. A very good solid game to say at least. Buttersmooth shots and always fun to play. I like the VE the most because it looks so nice an I really dislike the photoshopped art on the original one. The only thing that bothers me is the music. I think it is a bit repetitive and it doesn't really catch me. But that's just my personal opinion.

Great all around pin from Stern. Finally got one. ColorDMD a must on this title.

I have waited to rate the game. We have owned it for about a year - and of the 7 games we own - Spiderman might be the one that gets played the most. It is fun and can be readily picked up by newer players. The game itself is a bit basic with the Sandman being the biggest gimmick in the game, but we don't mind. I understand that it can be a bit too easy for the hardcore players, but for us, it is about right.

A couple of notes

- A color DMD really does add a lot to the game. If you are buying the game make sure you have enough $ left over to pick up the color DMD.

- The game really does look cool. The art on the VE is spot on (IMO), and the LED light show is great. It makes for a fun-looking and inviting game.

- We have had it in our collection for about a year and we have no plans on getting rid of it.

Great vault edition of one of the best Stern games. The VE artwork, lighting and other tweaks are welcomed improvements over the original version. As most would agree, the new callouts are the biggest weakness, especially when compared to the original. Not nearly as cheesy of callouts/voice acting as X-Men, TWD or GotG, thankfully.

Good relooking of a timeless classic. The little letdown is the music.

Good depth of rules. Theme is great and variation of shots make the game fun to play. Great pin to own.

Comic artwork on a pinball machine... YES! AND great gameplay!

I always loved the layout and gameplay of Spider-Man but usually got tired of it quickly. Smashing the all down and destroying sandman over and over for big points just got old quickly. And then I woke up, watched a couple tutorials and really discovered the nuance of the rule set and the scoring. The game flipped 180 on me and instead of chopping wood over and over on a couple of key shots for what I thought was decent points, has gone to a game where I strategically make a bunch of different shots, trying to pull in more of the modes, and more importantly, the shot multipliers on the right shots, at the right time. The rush of completing a mode and getting the right shot multiplied, and then bringing in something big is really fun and completely changes the feel and fun factor of the game. It's one of my favorite games in my collection. Anyone that previously has dismissed Spidey should take a new look at it with fresh eyes and a new way of exploring the game and ways to score on it.

I really enjoy this game and can see owning it again someday. It is a great machine for entry levels players as it isn’t to difficult. The Vault edition updates the LEDs and has a timeless quality. The 3rd flipper for the Venom shot is fun and that is overall what this game is” fun”, simple straightforward rules and has great flow. I understand how great players get bored with it and I’d hope to have that problem some day! Ball times can get long and walking away with a so-so game after. 15 minutes does make you jump to another game.

Spider-Man is a good solid game. I really like the artwork on the vault edition, just not crazy about the sounds, callouts, and music.

i had this for about 6 months before i got very tired of it. needless to say, its gone. i think star trek was a much better game [got rid of that too].

Like Stern's movie version of "Spider-Man"? Guess what? Here it is again with a new coat of paint. This is the same exact game with a face-lift. Gone is the metallic look of the first game. In its place is a comic book version of the titular hero. Rules are pretty much the same: capture villains and become New York's hero. Everything is more colorful, though J.K. Simmons is sorely missed as J. Jonah Jameson. In his place is an actor playing Spider-Man who makes his trademark quips every five seconds ("Hey, Sandman - didn't you know stripes were OUT this year?"; "Ah...the black homicidal!") and that wears on you in the first few minutes of playing. Still, it's a fun game but one can't really help but feel like Stern didn't really try much here. Still, this is their best Marvel game.

Great comic book art style, and lighting. I really like the additions (magnet) and lighting upgrades on this edition. It really looks and plays great. Music is not great and needs to be changed, callouts are more "comic book" style and fun. Game plays very fast and action packed multiballs are great. DMD animations are some of the best out there. If you are a spider-man fan you will love this game.

Fun challenging games that doesn’t get old. There is enough modes and bad guys to fight to keep the game fresh and it is super multiball happy. Love the music that pays homeage to the 70s cartoon I used to watch back in the day. Great light show and the cabinet art is perfect for this game. Looks great In a collection of pins or by its own. Same layout as Star Trek and that is a good thing. It is just fun either in casual play or for serious players. Glad I picked this up and it isn’t leaving my collection.

love this game. Its a long player game. love the VE over the regular games because of the art work. Great game

I have never cared anything about any super hero characters, but this machine plays awesome! The first place I played was loud and I could not hear the machine, and all was awesome. Then I played a place that was quiet, and the callouts are geeky and repetitive. I would love to have one, I would just keep the sound way down.

The artwork is much better than the original spider Man but I don't like the callouts on the vault.

To me, Spider-Man VE is Stern's best Marvel game. Moreover, I think the game compares pretty favorably to the rest of what Stern has put out for the past 8-9 years, meaning it is in Stern's Top 10 for that time period; probably even Top 5.

Disclaimer: I’ve been playing my SMVE with lightning flippers and the center drain post removed since day 1. Factory outlanes. Tougher, and more brutal gameplay really compliments this game’s layout and rules.

That said. It feels like the vault was built for me. I owned the original SM twice. Both times, I had a hard time liking the movie theme appeal and had to get it out. It just felt, looked, and sounded like actors being actors. The vault edition feels like Spider-Man. Campy, goofy, and comic based. It’s what a Spider-Man pin should be, the total package.

Everything about this pin is top notch. Shots feel satisfying, easy to play - difficult to master. Multipliers are fun and the overall appeal is a winner. Fun fun pin with a lot of character.
