I have owned Time Zone the 2 player version of this game, and just picked up ST yesterday. Was happy to get the 4 player version, and since TZ and ST are the same game other than number of players, felt knew enough to rate ST. Timing the time tunnel and avoiding the out lanes seem like the key to this game for me. And both are challenging. Then of course avoiding the three center targets at all costs since seems to drain 8 times out of 10 off any of the three targets. So time the tunnel right, keep the ball in the upper play field, and have fun.

I have had this machine for 10 years and it is still fun to play !! The tunnel is very cool and challenging (and necessary to rack up big points). It is also challenging to open the gates on the right side and get the ball thru the gate in into the right lane to score a lot of points and send the ball back to the plunger. The artwork, cabinet and sound are very good for a pin from this period. Experiment with the leg levelers > pitch of playfield changes the play a lot. GREAT EM !!!!!

I owned this game for a short period of time. It's decently fun but there's far more randomness to it then I enjoy in a pinball machine. Other then the three stand up targets in the middle of the playfield, theres not really much to shoot for. Seems like you just have to fire the ball up either side of the centring stand-up targets and hope you get some good bounces. Really like the playfield and backglass art on the game and the theme is really cool. The tunnel is an interesting and fun gimmick but hard to master as a skill shot. The chimes are typical Bally (not great). I found myself getting bored of this game quickly as just firing the ball up either side of the plaayfield without aiming for anything specifically half the time gets a little boring. The 4 pops do make for some decently fast pace action in the upper portion of the playfield. In terms or technology with the gates, left side eject and the center post, the game seemed ahead of its time. But the fun factor just wasn't all there for me personally.

This is a super fun game. It can be quite repetitive but still super fun. The backglass art is awesome. The playfield art is a bit lacking and I wish they did more with time travel on the playfield to tie it together with the back glass a little more, still the playfield art has wonderful colors and looks nice. It has some fun toys for an EM such as ball gates that only open when you hit playfield features also has a pop up ball save between flippers that is easy to get but super hard to keep. Overall a awesome game that was a show stopper when it first hit the market and way better than most EM's of that period.

I just like this game , to me it is very much like Ro-go with the side gates and bonus collect, the tunnel is cool, the up post and just a very colorful game, on high tap it plays very fast. Not a deep game, not much else other than the time tunnel . but the art and the chimes the tunnel make this a winner in my book.

An amazing EM. No real rule set, just go for high score. Time tunnel is a cool aspect that still holds up well today. My main issues, are the ball drains way too easily, and the pop up post goes down faster that it does to active it.

The upper and lower gates are also a plus on this title. Like I said, straightforward pinball, with some cool features. Also, the first one added to the collection.

Update: After owning it for a bit, I find the game has grown on me. And is easily one of the most played in the collection. Also draws in friends and family with its old EM sounds.

This is a skills game par excellence.

The Pros:
The artwork is killer! For it's age it is incredibly bright, detailed and we even got christian marche not to use pointy people. The pf is a trip too. I mean really, are you blind? This art package is creative, vibrant and full of character. But then again this is only my opinion. The tunnel starts, the tunnel stops. What to shoot for, the center skill lane or the two saucers that might or might not score, but the gates open when you get them landed. What to do, where to go. Get that post up, tap the flipper and time that 5k center target. Those outlanes are tough! Classic risk vs. reward. It may seem simple, but it is never easy.

The Cons: Bally connectors can be flaky. I like the 2 player version of the BG better as there is more awesome artwork and fewer rolling numbers.

The Takeaway:
A brilliant game by the entire team! I have to know though... is it Ted Zale or Jim Patla? Christian Marche put out a great art package that ties the whole game together from the pf, to the cab to the fantastic bg. Who ever engineered this game, I wish I knew who you were... you did a bang-up job!

A very cool EM. Love the time tunnel under the playfield and the upper and lower bonus gates. The game also has a post that raises by hitting targets and lowers by specifically placed roll overs. Nice cannon on the upper left playfield which adds some further toy depth to the game. A fun machine with a multitude of cool shots for an EM.
