Game Design: Jim Patla

Artwork: Paul Faris

Noteworthy features

  • Captive Ball
  • Spinning Target
  • Solitary Drop Target that when knocked down, allows the ball to drain into the Plunger Lane which adds all the bonus points to your score while saving them for when you actually do drain and also lets you shoot again.

Trivia

  • Space Invaders includes an infinity mirror backglass.
  • Legal problems arose for Bally, when Fox studios complained that the Paul Faris' Space Invaders pinball blackglass, looked too similar to the creature in the 1979 movie "Alien".

Backbox ornament(s)

Infinity lighting and a Paul Faris rendition of an Alien that was painted on a mirror. The whole effect is incredible and is arguably the best backglass design ever created.

Video mode

This machine has no dot matrix or video display, so it has no videmode.
