A very nice game, especially for younger kids. Flipper action is very slow. Trying to get the balls into the couch in the upper playfield is the best challenge for me. Without that, this game would be somewhat boring. Of my 6 machines, it is my last choice to play, but I am VERY glad I have it. Others who visit, and who are not very good players, like this machine. It is slow enough for novices to have a good time.

Another machine I considered purchasing but having played it for a good few hours, I decided it was not for me. Don't like the ball starting out into the middle of the playfield and whilst it is a fun game, it just did not excite me enough. I guess the theme whilst truly representative of the Simpsons just does not do it for me. I play one game and I walk away.

Owned one. Like the p/f layout and all the shots but rules too complex, felt a bit of a chore so off it went.

I love the Simpsons and this game does the series justice. Lot's of fun play with great quotes and DMD animations. The upper level playfield doesn't do much, but it adds an additional element to the game. The pin is much more family friendly than the TV series! Overall, its a excellent pin!

I loved the Simpsons much more than this pin. The game has lots of rules and shots, but it's not fun and getting 3 balls on the couch is super hard and not worth much. The other thing that bugs me is that I always think the garage door is going to break when I hit it. But it never has.

Deepest rule-set ever! Most ingenious mini-wizard modes ever (Alien Invasion, Springfield Mystery Spot)! Tons of unique modes, sound clips, and music from the show. I consider this to be Stern's "Twilight Zone" as far as features and rules go. So much creativity and ingenuity in the rules. Also has a "Lawloresque" feel to the layout. Tons of shots, a tough shot through the bumpers, lots of ramps and a very playable upper playfield. It doesn't quite bring you into the game as much as LOTR does, but the game just has so much to offer! It would probably be my desert island pin just because of the insane amount of depth and challenge that is involved in playing it.

Well designed machine that keeps things fun and interesting. There is so many shots on this well laid out playfied it is no wonder why so many love it. I usually go for pins that are fast and have great flow but this one manages to keep me coming back for more due to its phenomenal layout and rule set. I do wish it was a little less stop and go.

The beauty of this game is that it can be equally enjoyed by both novices and experts. Casual players will have a blast just batting the ball around, while the insanely deep ruleset will keep even the the most advanced players happy. The theme is well integrated, the artwork is nice, and the toys are very cool. Unlike in some games, the mini playfield is actually a lot of fun, and the couch is one of the most inspired toys in all of pinball.

In my opinion, TSPP would make a great addition to any home collection. My only caveat would be that it is not a great game for someone who is looking for a lot of flow. I happen to enjoy stop and go games such as this, but it's not for everyone. The only other negative I can come up with is that I wish Stern had shelled out a little more for Julie Kavner and Yeardly Smith. It's pretty ridiculous to have a Simpsons theme without quotes from Marge and Lisa.

I purchased this machine very shortly after it was released and I think it was a great game. This was really when Stern was releasing top quality pinball machines like the old bally and williams game. The game flowed very well and was accessible to new players yet still was very challenging to pinball vets. The game is very faithful to its source material and anyone that likes the Simpsons TV show and likes pinball would enjoy this game.

This is by far the deepest game I have owned or played. When I bought it I printed out the rulesheet as it takes me a while to figure out the rules. Wow, it was a book by the time it was done printing.

You can either step up and just try to get couch multiball or I&S multiball and bang the ball around. Or you can delve deeper by stacking modes, keeping the timer running, and trying to get everything going. There are some very cool modes, like the flippers reversing (Springfield Mystery), Alien Invasion (stupidly hard, I never completed it). This game will have you finding new stuff for quite some time.

At first glance you would think this was a machine aimed at kids for a quick game, and in some ways it is. If you actually play the machine a few times you will realise there are a LOT of things to do. This machine has maybe the deepest ruleset in pinball. There are SO many goals to aim for, so many multiball modes to play and everything is stackable, which means that you can start one mode or multiball and then start another, and another, just keep the timer from running out on the TV.
The duel playfield layout is inspired. Hit the garage door to open it, shoot a ball into the garage and it gets kicked up to the living room (which is the mini upper playfield). Then shoot the ball behind the TV which will start one of the 7 modes. You then can fire the ball up onto the orange couch, just like the one in the series, to lock for multiball. You can also visit Moe's Tavern, climb the Treehouse to the upper playfield, call in at the Qwik-E-Mart, visit Homer in his Power Plant and much much more. A great, great game!

Strange machine.

I mean, i like it, but I still wonder what was the main audience they had in mind.

For exhibition the rule set is way to complex making a casual player confused aka earning no money.

For a collector the rule set is fantastic (even if the flow is broken) but many wouldn't put a Simpons-Pinball in there lving-room/lounge/basement/whatever.

Nonetheless one of the better ones from Stern.

Keith Johnson & his team set out to make a great game using the Simpsons IP. What they ended up with is one of the best pins in history. The reigning king of rulesets. If comparing similar playing pins with LOTR being Stern's MM, SM being Stern's AFM, then TSPP is Stern's Twilight Zone. A mind-numbing amount of modes ensures a long shelf life. You don't have to be a Simpsons fan, to enjoy this game. Lots of fun shots, light show, hilarious dot animations, cool toys, fun take on the show's theme song, voice samples from the shows' stars (no Lisa or Marge), & overall very beautiful/faithful art package . Main gripe with this one, is it hardly has any flow going on (maybe one orbit shot). New players love this game, as there is a big open space in the middle to bat balls around in. Lots of stop-and-go gameplay. Game shines in a home collection. Sure to continue to go up in price, as Gary Stern himself said you won't be seeing games this deep in rulesets ever being released in the future.

At home since 2008, the only one I 'll never sale.

Complex rules, exceptional mini playfield management, this game was ahead of its time.

My best pinball ever!

A fun machine but I can't get into the theme.

Fun game. This game seems to have a set of quotes for each sensor which changes depending on mode. Probably the most voice calls on any machine. Great artwork and lighting. Crowded playfield with a lot of tight shots. Not much flow. Despite the theme I don't think this is a good game for a kid due to the difficulty. A whole lot to do for the advanced player though. I played this for several hours and didn't even come close to all it had to offer. Even though I like games with a bit more flow I want this for my collection because I know it would take a lot of games to beat it.

Fun pinball, with the couch holding multi-ball, and the tier levels.

I am not a big fan of the simpsons. I enjoyed playing it at a local arcade but the upper flipper did not work that well. ...Update............I went back a few months later and the machine played great. I would like to own one.

Easily my favorite stern table. Hope to have one someday in my collection, this and the data east simpsons are both excellent.

I'm going to be honest in that I feel Stern machines are mediocre at best compared to the 90's Williams and Bally games. However, with that being said, SPP is a great machine that I really enjoyed playing. I love the theme and the play was much more fluid than what I would have expected considering the crowded play field. There is a good mix of humor with classic pinball fun.

Bottom line... SPP is a great game that is worth giving a shot. This game made me think I may even, dare I say it, decide to buy a Stern for myself someday.

Great theme, mediocre game...at least after only a few plays. This one just couldn't keep my interest. Was fun for a few quarters, but never drew me in enough to really get into the rule set. Maybe those who spend more time on it like it better?
