Chicago Coin
Red Baron
Red Baron entered production on June 5, 1975 and was produced by Chicago Dynamic Industries (CDI) under the Chicago Coin Machine brand.
The four player twin is “Blue Max”, featuring different backglass and cabinet artwork.
Both versions were designed by Jerry Koci, Alvin Peters, and Wendell McAdams with artwork by Lloyd Rognan.
Total production numbers are unknown.
Due primarily to the multi company lawsuit by Magnavox regarding Pong video game clones, CDI was nearing bankruptcy. Beginning in 1975, drastic cost cutting measures were taken on their arcade and pinball machines, but this failed to save the company. Sam Stern bought the bankrupt Chicago Coin assets at the beginning of 1977 and renamed the company Stern Electronics.
