I bought this game having never seen an astrology themed pin before. Hard to believe the “age of Aquarius” fad came and went with only one astrology pin? [EDIT - Stargazer! What a beautiful game...]

I don’t really mind the center button to launch the ball. It’s not like there were complicated skill shots in 1971. Turns out it’s just a predecessor to the Stern action button! It’s also, unfortunately, a great place to put one’s beer.

The rules are straightforward, but relatively hard to execute. Cashing in on the bonus is very satisfying.

The wide body plus no plunger lane leaves this game suuuuuuper wide open.

I converted my flippers to DC - huge improvement in gameplay. Very satisfying shots to the spinning disc and can reach the top of the enormous playfield with ease.

I appreciate this game for its uniqueness, but am not surprised to see that the ideas here have not carried over to future games.

Lastly - I recently had a bunch of pinball folks over and Planets was a surprise hit. Really cool novelty game!

(Copy and pasted from Zodiac, the other version of this game)

The backglass is pretty.
The almost horizontal slingshots are... strange. I don't think I like the effect.
It's a very simple design. Wide open. Sort of a waste of four recently-embiggened flippers. I'd say it's an evolutionary misstep in the history of pinball design.
Still, a pinball machine is a pinball machine. And a unique design is a unique design, even if it is rather unsuccessful. So I can't be too harsh on this game. It is what it is.

Edit: I changed my mind. This pinball machine is great. Those side flipper shots are hard to hit, but that's fine by me. It's a game with shots and goals, and that's really all you need.
