Often said that it is a stop and go gameplay. Well it's true but it never bothered me because I just love the atmosphere that comes with the game. And I just love the toys and there are lots of them. Giant ramp, spinner, the sinking and wiggling ship, the treasure chest opens and closes…
A pinball machine for people that love to have lots of toys in a game!

Just got this in. What a great game. I own 35 machines and this one is top 5 for me.This mach was on route and it looks (huo). Wish i could find more like this one. It did come from back east. In most cases i purchase out of state . Like everything else in california Over rated and for sure over priced . Cant go wrong with this machine period.

Great looking great playing game. I haven't owned it too long but I have played it more than any other game I've owned. Very addictive and fun. It sits right next to my whirlwind and I can't believe it is rated lower than WW on here. It is at least 3x better than WW.

Great game

Man, I remember playing this about 7-8 years back (at the time of writing), and it was so fun to play while it was still there. Sort of has a Medieval Madness feel to it (because of the pirate ship), and one of the better Stern games to be played.

"Look at all those arms!"

This is definitely a fun stern with some great toys and playfield features. Overall, I have found that the ball times can be very long.

A decent game but not too much to it. It can get a bit repetitive and boring.

I had this game a while back and didn't realize how much I really liked it until I sold it. Luckly I found one that is HUO and buying it back. This game is a great example of how Stern used to put out games with cool toys and didn't cut back on cost. The call-outs are probably my only complaint in this one - music is good and layout is unique to other games. Dennis Nordman is a great designer that thinks out of the box when designing a machine.

If this game wasn't so easy, it would rate much higher. Art and vocals are first rate. This is a very good family game, but too easy for pros and therefore, replay value is less. I can keep a ball in play for hours. I haven't tried setting hard rule set - that might help... and maybe steepen the angle...

I great example of how modern Stern games just don't hold up against the classics

Got a few games in on this machine but it was routed pretty good and not set up to well.I may have to change my rating sometime.
It was a fun game with some good shots and rule set.

Alright game, not one I would go out of my way to play.

Good family game = variety of modes from easy completion to #$%!! Jack the Monkey and Heart Super Jackpot, humorous callouts ("I think you need an alternate plan, mate!" after a quick drain) and excellent toys = sinkable ship, chest w/beating heart, whirlpool. If Stern made it today it would be a Premium model!?!

Another VERY over-rated game on this list. I've played it several times hoping to find the reason for its popularity and it's not happening. It is just an 'okay' game.
UPDATE: upon reviewing Jersey Jack's POTC machine, I found that an update to my review of this machine is warranted. My first few experiences on this machine were relative to the poor condition of the machine that I played. I have since had the pleasure of playing on much better copies of this machine allowing me to get much deeper into this game and, consequently, enjoyed it much more. This is a pretty fun game and almost am motivated to put it on my wish list... almost.

Falls short with theme - generic pirate theme, sinking the ship is fun, backglass looks like movie poster, rules are extremely simple, and playfield/speech doesn't incorporate much from the movies.

Played it only one evening, so these are my provisional scores, will update after more plays. Beautiful art & theme which feels like a classy euro board game. The voice actors do a great job with a humorous script. Of course johnny depp is too expensive to hire for this kind of job, so i don't see why people complain about this. The game is start and stop and possibly a bit too easy for good players.

Not sure what the deal is. Pretty machine, cool theme, boring gameplay. Found this game to be pretty slow and lacking any type of flow. Only played on location, but have done so at a few different places and always walk away disappointed. Just not my cup of tea.

Edit: Updated my rating a bit.
