Only Game In Town

Written by RCA1, published May 7th, 2012. 3 comment(s).

Pinbot was the only game in town. At least the only one that I knew about.

When I was a student at Michigan Tech University, Pinbot was the game in the Memorial Union snack bar. The Union had meeting rooms, study rooms, some offices, a bowling alley, a pool (billiard) room, and the snack bar. It was a cool place to waste time between classes. The pool room usually had an open table and the snack bar had good greasy fries.

Had not played Pinbot before that, and really came to like it. Always used any leftover quarters to play. Especially since it was the only machine on campus.

Yes, the Memorial Union complete with the phrase, "Through this archway walk the best engineers in the world!". When I was at MTU my friends and I played the SS version of Cleopatra in Wadsworth Hall. Good old Cleo. As I recall the tilt was very forgiving. Some would gently slide that machine around while playing.

Seems to me that the Memorial Union had Black Knight when I was there. Video games were starting to become more popular. Games like Defender, Pacman, and Gorf to name a few.
