Paragon used to be at this arcade in Granada Hills, CA that I won't name since they no longer have pinball. I played the hell out of this game when it was there. It was easily my favorite game from my high school years. I thought the artwork was really fantastic as well, and Boris Vallejo-type artwork was very much an in thing back then. (You saw it on all the really cool vans, remember?
So what was great about this game? Everything! Well, aside from the occasional STDM or the accidental slip through the double flipper or knowing that once the ball was in there with the bumper on the low left of the playfield you were pretty much hosed.
There were a lot of shots to make that added up into big points, like the inline drop targets, the saucer up top, spelling out PARAGON which got you a lot of three bonus advances, and the race to get at least a 20K bonus the first ball so you could keep that the rest of the game. And always try for a couple of bonus multiplier shots every ball!
The widebody also helped add to the depth of the game. I think this was one of the first, right?
Definitely one I would get in trouble with the wife about if one were offered for sale locally. Good times, dudes, good times...
