I was on my lunch break and saw this game on FB marketplace for 100 bucks...went and picked it up after work and I love it so far. I was thinking "I'll fix it up and sell it" but it's becoming one of my favorite pins out of the 5 I have. 4 slingshots, 5 pop bumpers and all the rollovers on the track keep this game fun. I wish there was more than one chime though. The artwork is growing on me. Overall It was worth 100 bucks and moving it up 15 steps to get it home. I'll probably never sell it.

This is a solid game, but can get rather boring after you start getting free balls (add a ball version). The most challenging aspect is to light all of the bumpers (A -B - C - D) and then score on the center target (300pts). The horse racing theme is good and the artwork is fun. The number of races won makes the game a double challenge - score and races. Overall I like this game, but it isn't my favorite.

The rollover buttons on the "race track" are a neat idea to incorporate into Paddock (perhaps it should have been called "Track?").

I work with horses, so I was drawn into the game via the artwork and I rather like it. Game play more or less involves lighting and targeting the pop bumpers. . . I'm spoiled with newer technology and I just need more action/speed out of a game. It was fun to put a dozen or so games on, but I was satisfied to walk away and find another pin to play.

Based on my playing of Post Time, the Add-a-Ball version of same game:

After I had a few pins of my own, I picked up a beaten Post Time for my Father-in-Law who is a pin fan as well as a guy who liked to bet the horses. He isn't able to drive to the track anymore so this pin in his townhome is a great piece of entertainment for him.

I had to do substantial cleanup and fixes to the game, and in the end it's a fun player. You basically have 2 goals, light the bumpers to make the center target worth more points, and move the horses around the track. Both scores and races completed can award you extra balls. (Settings can be adjusted to Add a ball, which gives you another ball to the plunger, or Extended play, which kicks the ball out into the playfield after it drains)

I didn't expect much from this game, but it's run to play and a hit with the family. Cab artwork is "meh" (mine was actually worse, had to repaint, but doesn't give any indication of theme), the playfield and backglass feather the "pointy people" of the age, but it's passable. Sound is Williams bells which aren't as nice as the Gottlieb of the same timeframe.

Fun game, definitely getting a workout by my father-in-law, and enjoyed by everybody.

Grew up on this game. I prefer the games of the '90s, but I sure played the heck out of this as a kid. If you like EM machines, this one is worth a look. Good game for it's age.

Not much to look at, I have played a few different Paddocks , most were slow and boring, but one guy had it right, set it up so it played fast and loud. It was very enjoyable to play that day, but in Typical Williams fashion, always leaves you asking " is that it ? Not for me, but if you like it Enjoy

Paddock is a great looking and playing game from Williams.

The Pros:
Christian Marche kills it again with the pointy people. Now some people don't like his artwork. I love it for 2 big reasons. 1) Tight deadlines mean sometimes you have to come up with a technique that communicates from a distance as well as close up. Cut paper seems to do the trick. I dare you to find a modern pinball artist to create nearly 150 art packages in around 10 years. 2) No other artist has conceived an art style that says "Pinball" like Christian March did with this technique. Now if you've read my reviews, you know I think the world of Dave Christensen. But I have seen other artists (Paul Faris in particular) that have taken his look or other artwork that has been used in different situations that could be mistaken for Dave Christensen's handywork. There is no one who has done anything that I have seen that looks like the pointy pinball people anywhere else. Not only that, but then he will create detailed and intricate art packages like space mission/odyssey and Space Time/Time Zone. I believe that sometimes he had the time to create beautiful pieces of artwork and sometimes he had to choose his battles with the clock.

Norm Clarke designed a game that plays very well. Getting all 4 standups/bumpers lit is fun and lights up the whole game. The rollovers are a nice addition, and the 4 slings keep the ball moving side to side. You'd better pay attention so that the ball doesn't drain down those outlanes.

The Cons:
The horse ate her hat.

Takeaway:
A really good game from Williams for this vintage of pinball. Maybe it's just me, but some people need to understand that just because that they think that artwork does not look good, doesn't mean it's not great.
