Mystic - basic but kind of fun

I got this game as a deal with Joker Poker, I had played it as a kid a little bit and recall that it was just OK to play.

My game arrived with a decent playfield that really just needed a tear down and clean / polish , but I also purchased and installed all new drop targets , bumpers and skirts and obviously re-rubbered and re-globed the game. I also re-did the Apron using a decal from Flipper Rescue in Australia and gave the game a new shooter and springs and new rollover lane plastics - the playfield is now VERY nice on this game.

Sometimes I like to walk up to a game and just 'bash a ball around' without too much thinking to do, Mystic is a game you can do that on and hence it will stay around for a little while in my collection, not many people can have ALL 'A' titles in a collection and I need a couple of what I call 'fillers'

Having said all that there is still decent things to do on this game, to obtain Extra Ball and / or Specials you have to roll over the 4 x Star switches , 2 are at the top of the game either side of the top saucer, meaning shots through the spinners are required throughout the game to get the ball up top, there are 2 spinners on the game. The other 2 stars are in the lower left and right return lanes.

The game has 9 drop targets, in 3 banks of 3 , they are either lit at any time for an EYE or a PYRAMID, similar to Hot Hand there is a card full of 9 eyes and 9 pyramids in the centre of the playfield and the aim is to light all the eyes and all the pyramids. There are various switches around the playfield like the bumpers and slingshots that alternate the scoring shot between the eye and the pyramid, making it that little bit harder to complete the entire card.

The game has a crazy bonus score system which is also centralised around the rows of eyes or pyramids you have lit in the main central card, to achieve 2,3 or 4X bonus there is a captive ball at the top right of the playfield that also scores Specials and 25,000 points as extra rewards.

Not a bad game for its time.

One thing I LOVE about this game is the backglass artwork, my game also has the ( so -called ) 3D eye and pyramid which is sunken into the globe door rather than being images on the actual backglass.
