Many ways to win.

Score: top the scoring threshold to win replays.
Points: hit the lit bumpers and rack up points for replays.
Sequences: light up the 8s, 9s and/or face cards to activate the center target for up to three replays.
Lit gobble hole: land in the gobble hole when lit and score a replay.
Double: insert two nickels and all replays are doubled.

Lots of ways to succeed, but you never quite seem to get there. An ideal combo for that “just one more game” appeal.

The only thing I ever hear anyone complain about are the giant gobble holes. They can devour a ball before it ever makes it to the flippers. This makes for the occasional short game.

Top flight game in every single way from the theme, to the art, to the gameplay, to the rules.

On the art side, Roy Parker turns in another beauty in a long career full of them, this time mixing magic and mysticism, swamis and lucky rabbits, with a good bit of raciness. The art is an attention grabber, and a bit out there for 1954. Maybe one of his ten best efforts.

The gameplay and rules are simple but challenging. Two evil gobbleholes dead center, with the big bonus standup right behind them. Hittable, but tricky. Very interesting flipper area as well -- instead of the usual outlanes galore, this only has one smallish center drain and upward-facing slingshots that can keep the ball in play a long time. People could get good value for their money on this back in the day, which is perhaps why it was one of Gottlieb's "Double Award" games -- pay twice on one credit for double the reward points.

We also have a 5-light indicator in the apron area, indicating which ball you have in play. I'm not sure if this was a first here, but I haven't seen it around very often.

First thing to be mentioned is a sublime Roy Parker backglass. Great pin up art but it's also the small touches with each rabbit having individual expressions.

So, how does it play? Well, it's a classic Gottlieb of this era that has multiple ways of winning. The result is you always feel close to winning, nearly there. But of course, it never quite works out! No wonder when this game was out on location in Paris, France, the cash box was over flowing every single week. And of course being a DOUBLE game, people probably gambled in the hope of winning twice as much.

There are multiple ways to win. Can score millions but also get a replay on single points. Then get Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten in order to light one special. Get the 8's to light another special. Finally get the 9's to light another special.

So, doing that lights 3 inserts for special and if you double, that is 6. However unlike other games you don't simply get awarded the special. You have to hit the center target that is guarded by the 2 gobble holes of doom! So hard to hit it to collect the specials. Must have driven players mad back in those days! For a game made in 1954 this game has amazing playability and looks so good in a darkened room.

A true classic.
