CGC did a great job with the remake. They basically have given hobbiests the opportunity to own one of the best games of all time. I have played them both and they play extremely similar. Great design by Brian Eddy! If I had something constructive to nit pick it would be the music is repetitive and they could have installed better speakers. However, I really like the new technology and believe it is an upgrade to WPC 95. A little more complex to work on but not completely different. Regardless, definitely a top five game of all time.

With the addition of a well integrated shaker, full LED lighting, and variable strength flippers and catapult, this game is marginally superior to the original. A speaker upgrade is required to obtain full speech clarity. Definitely a game that will never leave my collection.

Felt the need to rate this machine when I saw it rated higher than the original. I have played both. They are both great games with relatively little difference. What is the difference, Hard to define, just a feel. I like the feel of the original, thus I will rate it a hair lower than I rated the original. (tempted to give it a 1.0 to skew the average, but I won't).

To plagiarize from a forum I read:

If Ford decided to remake it's 1965 Mustang with current automobile technology, would you consider it better? Would you rate the remake Mustang higher than the original? The 1965 Mustang, and the 1997 MM are classics. Respect them.

I only rate MMR slighyly higher by .1 than the original because of the great updated dots. Otherwise it's the exact same game #1 for a reason.

Pure pinball perfection and fun. I don't think there will ever be another game like it.

For those saying it doesn't play like the original. They are wrong. It plays exactly the same as the original. Exactly like it did when it was new.

Some original owners trying to lower MMRs rating.
Why?
Suck it up.
It was remade for a reason. It's the best machine, new or old.

Similar to MM but it just doesn't feel the same as a really nice original MM. Flippers feel different and ramps don't feel as solid. Classic game though, one of the best but always have preferred AFM.

Great game, super funny call outs, great ramps, tons of variety in shots and modes. There's a reason this was remade, it was totally worth a come back, here's hoping a few other classics are brought back from the dead.

My favorite pinball of all time modernized. It plays exactly like the original and is brand new with upgraded LED lighting, video, and shaker. My only small gripe would be the call-out clarity could be improved.

I love this pin. Has fun factor and lots to shoot at. Toys are fun and there are lots you can add to the remake.
Seemed to function better out of the box than Stern vault edition pins.

I've never played the 1997 original version, so I can't compare this to that, but this one is stunning. Absolutely a thrill to play. There's a reason this game is ranked #1 (currently) on Pinside - it's just THAT good. It's hilarious and I love the stacking multiballs. This one is in my top 10 played machines of all time.

First of all let me start out by saying " I LOVE IT!"

I recently had the opportunity to play an original MM side by side with a MM LE Remake. Game play for the most part was identical with the exception of the new to old effect.
Comparing the original to the remake is like comparing an old restored car to a brand new car.

No matter how well the restore job was done….you just can't achieve that new car feel and smell…..

Purists will argue that the remake will never be as good as the original and I tend to agree…The remake is BETTER!!!!!

I put my money where my mouth is and purchased a MM LE Remake NIB that same day. I now own MM LE Remake #359 of 1000
