A highly under rated machine, makes good use of the gun, is challenging, and has lasting playability. This game has 26+ flashers and a mirrored back part on the playfield creates a nice effect.

It's a fun game with lots of video modes and a good flow. Probably one of the better data east machines. I was never a fan of the leathal weapon movies so this was no more then an alright game to me. Picked it up at a decent price, Had it for about a year before trading it. Kind of wish I kept it now but wouldn't go out of my way searching for another one.

I played this game a lot growing up at the local youth club I never got tired of it, would love to find it and re-live many hours of fun growing up.

Lethal Weapon 3 is a prime example of how a great layout and hardware can be ruined by lackluster artwork and shallow rules.

The Pros:
A killer layout with lots to shoot for. Drops, ramps, saucers, orbits and spinners. Multiball is lots of fun with double and 4x jacks. Figure 8 ramps are way rad. I like the skill shot that takes... SKILL to award it.

The Cons:
There could be SOOOOOOOO much more to do with this game if someone had the time and desire to make this game as awesome as it should be. Rules software and artwork need help, big time. Mode completion and separate video modes total up to 8 times to keep your eyes on the dmd. This is a pinball game right? The art package is sub-standard all around.

The Takeaway:
A good game that could have been a great one. Relatively simple fun, but not a game for the ages. It is a good game for the $$$? Sure, but there are other games out there for the same price or less that are better players (maybe it just comes without a DMD). Good for the kids and the GF who for some reason, still has a crush on Mel.

ok,ok,ok,ok....

Update:
I got a chance to play a really nice copy for New Year's 2018 and I have to say that I really like playing this game more than I thought I would. In fact, I'd say It is one of my fav DE games to play now. The biggest thing for me is that the rules on this deck are really well balanced. The modes require shots all over the playfield and yes, that last one is a big 50 mil that is super easy to collect, well any of the modes are easy to collect. But this means that challenging shots need to be made all over the pf. I do wish that more rules had been put into this game as compared to... mode animations, but who knows... pinballcode.com may have something up their sleeves in a future date for this deck. Or mystery programmer, or... who knows. Multiball with double jackpots is way sweet and the shots all over the pf. ripping the spinners to build the bullets in the sub-machine gun is an interesting way to find some fun things that were programmed into this deck. I love the super riggs with the Curly Stooge sounds. Learning how to strategically keep a ball on the figure 8 ramp can make shots during multiball more managable and yet still skillful in execution. Speed jackpot and double speed jackpot require true multiball juggling and accuracy. This is a great skills practice game and can still be found for a reasonable price (this is 2018 now...)

This game has some strange things about it and while the scoring is not balanced in many ways (sub-machine gun modes), it is better than random double your score awards. And while Leo Getz can be inconsistent with scoring and unlimited millions just isnt worth that much (is there a tourney mode in this ruleset?), it is still not too unbalancing as lighting leo can be near impossible to light from direct flipper shots, and it doesn't seem to be lit that often in the course of a game.

Final note. Always choose ZZ Top.

The first pin I ever personally bought and owned, besides a Captain Fantastic which was given to me by my father. It sits next to an Elvis and an SW Episode 1 and for being the oldest of the current pins I have, I still go back to it to play more and more. I truly think this pin is one of the most underrated pins out there and also has to be a top pick for best bang for your buck. Rules and scoring that are easy to understand and shots that are easy enough for a beginner but yet still give oportunities for experts to rack up the score. This is one pin I will most likely never get rid of.

don't understand why it's so low.
this game is a bang for the buck. i'll put that game in front of a lot of pins, game is fun, flow is great and fast, multiballs not too hard to get, sound is good, thats a pin that anybody can enjoy.
i have to agree artwork could have been better, playfield and backglass, and that blue... damn!

After rating it the score is not really appealing, but strangely enough I always had good time with it. I guess that what we can call the pinball magic have worked on this one while every single aspect taken 1 by 1 are not so good.

Wish the multiball were more challenging to get, but still rewarding. The gun adds a good distraction, great video modes too. If you add LED lighting to the underplastic GI, it really makes the playfield light up better. As most people, I wish the leo getts (ok ok ok) wasn't so pronounced. It's equivalent to playing austin powers and hearing the "yea baby!" over and over.

Very under rated game. The choice of music is a cool option.

Solid pin! For those that think it easy, try getting all the video modes... Make sure setup is good otherwise LW1 will put the ball straight through the middle.

jeu spacieux, tres grand avec une longueur de plateau de 100cms.Le son interactif est tres plaisant. On le dit facile a jouer, mais le multiball ne s'obtient qu'apres de longs efforts.Les secances videos sont nombreuses et spectaculaires.Tres bon pinball.Top 3 chez Data East.

After searching for my first pin I needed a good price and fun. This game is underrated. A really fun game. Lots to do. Fun video. Fighting, gun play. It will keep you on your toes. Can get fast with the back loop and the gun play. For the price it is a steal.

First the bad - in many cases Data East's have a "cheap" feel to them and this is one of those. But another one of my favorite pins - Maverick - feels the same way so I try not to let that get in the way of enjoying a good pin. The first few games felt awkward but once I settled in it's a great little game. Probably my pick for most underrated since it currently resides at #185 and I feel it is deserving of a spot 100 points higher.

Great playfield layout, good rule set, great sound with the choice of 3 songs to enjoy while you play. The complaints about the overuse of "ok ok ok" are valid but exaggerated. I do wish you could hit both flipper buttons to skip the video clips but they aren't overly long. Uses the same layout as T2 but (turn back if you are a T2 fan) LW3 does a much better job with it. Whatever that force is that makes you push start again and again...LW3 has it.

My first pin. The topper, gun, and dot matrix shooting games are fun modes. Artwork is a bit on the cheesy side, and choosing your music is kinda cool, but C & C music factory gets old instantly. A fun casual game, but I need at least another pin to complement it.

Edit: After owning it for a few more weeks, it's grown on me. After cleaning it up, it plays like a different game, nice variety, good hurry-ups. My only wish is that you had to lock the balls for multiball.

Pretty fun with some good shots. Update to the latest ROMs and the annoying Joe Pesci stuff disappears. Not the best playfield artwork, but not terrible. For the price, not a bad pin.

A fun game package. It has everything that a good pin should have. Nice rules, good shots and layout, hurry up features, video modes and a gun feature that it well integrated into play. It's a good all-rounder and a reliable game that did well on site here in the UK. The only minus is that the voices can get a bit annoying but on the plus side you get to choose the music, which includes ZZ top's "Sharp dressed man" .
I have a real soft spot for this one as it is the game that got me interested in pinball.

I think i am in the minority here, but I love this game. Not the deepest game, but keeps you on the tip of your toes due to the constant interaction with the gun. Missed it so much I bought a second one.

It's like movie games from the NES era, and anyone that knows, knows what I mean...
