Great shot layout and I love gold mining in the Klondike. Classic em game.

Klondike is one of the games I remember as a kid and had fun with.

I love the slot machine reels and the agony/ecstasy as others have stated who own or play the machine where you are set for 5000 points only to hit a reel button and have it set back to 500. Eeks. It is that frustration that pulls me back in and the days that I am hitting the 3000, 5000 and getting extra balls or games make up for the frustration days. I need to remind myself that the purpose of pinball machines is to separate you from your quarters. Klondike is set up for that very well.

If you are purist looking for consistent skill shots this machine is not for you. If you want to have some fun and enjoy some pinball please give it a game or two.

Klondike is the replay version of Yukon.

I generally don't like Williams EM's, which I guess is why they tend to be cheap. I picked up this game for a really good price and brought it back from not working to fully functional... and I found out in the process that it is a pretty good game... even for a Williams!

The main gimmick on the playfield is a 3 reel slot machine thing. You can hit stand up targets and roll over lanes to advance the reels. When you have it where you want it, you can shoot a saucer to collect the bonus, which can be up to 5000 points and 3 extra balls (when set to add-a-ball).

There are 5 pop bumpers and when the ball gets into them there can be a lot of action.

There are two saucers at the top of the machine that can light the pops for extra points. One lights the green pops, and one lights the yellow pops. If you get them both lit, the red pop is lit for 1000 points. The problem is, this saucer is super tricky to hit with the flipper (if it's possible at all), and the single pop bumper located below it just doesn't have enough UMPH to knock it in there. As a result, the bumpers are almost never lit.

There are outer lanes that raise a post between the flippers, and there is a rollover right in front of the flippers that will drop the post - so you have to be on your toes and not expect that the post will be there when you need it most.

The art on the playfield is the famous pointy elbow and knee style, and that is not the best thing. The backglass is a lot better. It's worth a flip!

This game is a one trick pony. It has a slot machine in the top area. The artwork is pointy and ugly. I just really dislike this game and the rules. It leaves me cold. I borrowed this machine for a few weeks and I just wanted it out of my house.

I owned this game for about three years and really enjoyed playing it. The artwork is great and the colors are awesome. The slot reel makes this game a challenge for sure. Best bang for your buck!!!

I'm biased, but I love this game. I grew up with the 4 player version of this game (Goldrush) in my house. One I got back into pinball, I started keeping a lookout for a Klondike or Goldrush. When a local pinsider put a Klondike up for sale that he had beautifully restored, I couldn't resist.

The nostalgia factor for me is off the charts, since I had one growing up, but hadn't played one for over 30 years. I think it's very fun. Some of the comments talk about the "randomness" of the game. There is some truth to that, but it's not as random as it seems, if you control the ball. Also, by plunging the ball just right, you can often line up desirable combinations on the slot machine reel. Because of this, the plunge matters more in this game than almost any other game I've ever played, which just adds to the fun factor.

I love this game.

I owned two Em games this one and Surf Champ.. This is nice game but not in the same league as surf champ.. Theme is ok.. Shots are ok but getting the slot reels to the major reward is almost impossible

Decent game, not too challenging, good for beginners and kids. Artwork is fun too.

Klondike is one of those games that really sneaks up on you and makes you realize the amount of game that is in this deck is astonishing.

The Pros:
Great shots all over the PF. The center saucer is a great "randomizer" for the ball in this design. 5 pops mean great action especially back up towards the combination reels at the top of the design. The 2 upper saucers are touch shots that while the ball can be guided in rather easily, make sure that the entire PF is utilized. Advancing the center reel from the orbits are TOUGH shots. Christian Marche pointy people (and horses and bears and ducks) make this whole art package scream 70's pinball!

The Cons:
Mine needs a new BG. FEEL THE PAIN! The center saucer is rarely scored.

The Takeaway:
I "nastified" my game by taking the posts out on the PF by the flippers. This game went from challenging to downright brutal. If you don't have your control skills on point with this deck and that setup, your game is over right quick. I also found a little plug in the back of my backbox in this game. It converts this game to Add-A-Ball and instatly transforming my Klondike into a Yukon. I gots two games in one!

Update:
After playing this game for about a year, I got to the point where the "luck" factor of the game with the reels and the icons became enough of a factor that I didn't think that the game was really a skillful one. It looks great, moves fast and has lots to do, but high scores really became more about the ball careening about and hitting the right target at the right time and THEN getting lucky enough to hit a saucer... it was a rush when it happened, but it didn't feel like the points were earned. This box was definitely not a controllable environment to pin in. I loved this game, but it wasn't getting played at Casa Del 2Step, so it had to go. Fortunately, it went to a loving home one time zone over to the east.

I haven't owned many em's and it's been a lot of years since I played most of them but I remember being drawn to this machine way back when.My fondness for this machine also stems from the fact that I bought mine back from the dead and committed so much time and effort into getting it working properly that it would be hard for me to part with it. I like the way the early 70's Williams used the 'pointy art' and the vibrant colours on their machines. Klondike can be a brutal side drainer and requires a lot of nudging to keep the game going for a decent amount of time, but when those reels line up and the extra balls and credits are awarded, it's a great feeling. I have mine at a steep angle so play is fast...the outhole closest to the flippers causes the ball to crack against the glass which is annoying but it makes you think more about the way you play your shots . I especially like there being a 100,000 light as you want some recognition for 'clocking' it.
