Noteworthy features

  • Klondike has a 3 reel mechanical "slot machine" at the top of the play field. Most of the games have hats, frying pans, lanterns, and covered wagons as the symbols. According to the manual, some versions may have actual fruit symbols like a slot machine, but this seems to be less common, if this version was produced at all. Several shots change the reels. Several shots score the "reel value" which is different point values, extra balls, and the special (replay). The "reel value" depends on the combination of symbols on the "slot machine".
  • Also has a center post ball saver between the flippers which can be raised by shooting one of two shots on each side of the play field. A roll-over button in the middle lower play field lowers the post back down.

Trivia

  • This machine was featured in the TV show “Happy Days”. Ritchie is playing the machine and is at 30,000 points and on his last ball. He is worried about not winning a free game at 80,000 points. The Fonz tell Richie to “shoot the ball” and uses a pocket knife to adjust the back-box and the score suddenly jumps to 90,000.
