Jurassic Park is one of the best Data East games made. There are a few players out there who love this and really have the game down. I'm learning from watching them play the table.

The Pros:
Good PF Design and multiball. The dino eating the ball is a fantastic toy in action. The Raptor pit is a hoot. Knowing when to use the missle is KEY to success in this game. As noted by many others, this game is a great deck for the money. The raptor kickback is the first of many in your face kickers that we will see from later DE/Stern tables. The Dino toy eating the pinball off of the toilet is a brilliant idea.

The Cons:
It has a Data East feel to the table. T-Rex is prone to failure. Artwork is muddy on the PF. BG is cool with the dino above, messy with crowded actors and other nonsense below the Jurassic Park title (Just like the movie!) The Dino seems to be broken down quite a bit.

The Takeaway:
A very solid playing game from Data East. IMO, it comes in third behind Tales from the Crypt and then Tommy. Not for my collection, but I like to play it in other people's homes and on location. Some people call this game a TAF clone, but I don't feel that way. This game has some similarites, but it is definitely not a clone. The shots are different, and the rules are definitely different from the Lawlor classic.

Update:
The more I play this game, the more I like it. This deck has easily caught up to and possibly surpassed in my DE book. Once you really understand how multiball and CHAOS multiball work, this game opens up even more to you than you might think it would. This is a solid game that could compete with all but the best of the B/W stable and stern's new offerings.

Update V2:
People bag on Borg for this layout citing Whirlwind and tAF as what he ripped off from other designers to make this deck. I don't think that this is the case. The lower left hand side of the PF may look like whirlwind, but there is no orbit shot that leads to it from above. 2 PF holes and 3 pops do not make for a complete PF, and there are features on this table like the T-REX and even more functionally, the spitter kickback. Check out the Mystery Programmer project here: http://www.pinballcode.com/jp6 and take this game to the next level. Details, some small, some not (Switch 28) have been addressed to make this game a more balanced and better playing experience. This game is better for it and this labor of love must be recognized and lauded. If you have a copy, you owe it to yourself to get some ROMs burnt and play the heck out of it! This game is SOLID! Scores updated accordingly.

My only experience with this machine is a very used pin that had most of its lights out, the sound turned down to almost nothing, and a non working t-rex (I assume he was supposed to move). So if I ever find a restored game I'll come back and re-evaluate it.

I found the game to be pretty fun and not overly frustrating. It was pretty easy to get the ball to hit ramps and you always felt like you were accomplishing things. The T-rex 'rumble' countdown is very exciting and a lot of fun. The 'bunker' (and another building) pockets seem too close and easy to get into though. I found myself hitting the ball in there by accident over and over and sense it holds the ball for a good 3 seconds it kinda threw the rhythm of the game off for me.

I loved the movie as a kid, and enjoyed my plays but could not be wowed by this severely worn out machine. looking forward to playing on a machine that has seen some more love.

This game takes the thing from TAF and makes it a reward instead of something you are waiting to be over with.

Dinosaur themed pinball, can there be a better theme for a pinball?
This game can be super fast! That raptor kick and chaos multiball are fun. Ramp shot takes practice.... The outer lanes can be so brutal I want to quit. But the game is very fun and keeps me coming back for more abuse.

Was my very first pinball and couldn't have chosen better. T-Rex head eating the ball was awesome and everyone loved coming over to play it. Is generally a great game to play finishing all the modes and getting to the end wizard mode

One of the pinball worlds greatest toys. The ball eating t-rex is something that brings joy to the hearts of all pinheads, and its a great game to boot.

Very fun pinball. I'm a big fan of the movie so I'm digging the theme! The T-REX is very cool and has not got old yet for me. The Playfield artwork is so-so but overall I think it works just fine. CHAOS mode is a lot of fun, Im pretty sure this will be a keeper for a while!!!

Jurassic Park was fun, but it just didn't really connect with me. I can see why people really enjoy it, but it left me, and my friends, something to be desired. It's one of the best Data East's I've ever played though.

I really like this game and acutally think it's a little underated... playfield is similar to WW maybe thats why, would def. consider owning one.
Only things I didn't like where the artwork and playfield are a little too dark and the sound quality is just okay.

This Machine is gold, I love the layout ( could use another ramp) and the sounds are amazing and from the movie!

Would recommend this machine to anyone looking for something different or an exceptional machine.

the TREX eating ball function is amazing and can be quite cool when maintained.

A very fun game. Not the fastest.. plenty of stop and go. But a change of pace from the typical fan layout.
The toys are fun with the raptor kickback and ball eating t-rex along with the shaker motor.
The DMD animations are very nice as is the music. Could use a few more call outs.
The wizard mode is not the easiest but it is also not impossible so average players can get there occassionally.
Multiball is fast and furious and with the use of the Smart Mission, 6 ball multiball can be had almost every game played.
Overall a very fun game and requiers accurate shots. And a very fun theme.

Maybe my machine was broken? I'm not sure, though I couldn't get a few game modes going... Maybe next time.

A solid game from DE. Love the theme and my kids think it's great. However, in a collection including Tron, TZ and Cylcone - this will be the first to go.

For some reason I find myself coming back to JP. I've only played it on location but I will often choose to play it over many "higher rated" machines. The art and sound is pretty good the rules could use some tweeking. I wish you could bring modes into multiballs. But the two major jackpots are both fun as shit to aim towards. I've yet to get a super jackpot but I've gotten to System Failure a number of times. Oh, and the smart missile really adds some cool strategy to the game.

One of my favorite Data East pins. They sure did make some fun and creative pins. I liked the t-rex and the loop shot with the upper flipper. Not crazy about the art. Reminded me of LAH another great player with unappealing artwork. Like LAH it's a great player, good flow and great shots.

I love the theme, the artwork, and the music. This game is my wife's favorite and I greatly enjoy it as well. The rules need a little balancing, since you could just ignore the modes and have one good multiball and get amazing scores. However, the game is still fun, and I still find myself going for modes and trying to complete them, even if the arn't worth as many points.

I love Jurassic Park, great theame and game, its a definate rip off of the whirlwind layout (but so is addams family) which is good since I dont have to buy a Addams and WW.

Great fast paced game, cool animations, and the T-Rex is always a big hit I like the look of the game, nice colours the artwork is great good too (except like someone else said, Nedreys fingers are brutal)

Some really cool things they added are the raptor skill shot and smart missle which are really uniqe and a good addition to the game.

The only thing I dont really care for (besides DE's pop bumpers) is that tri ball happens every game, it should be a little more difficult, so you have to earn it.

All and all, my best bang for your buck recomendation and beyond that, its staying in my basement!

Great game for a new pinball owner or family. The T-Rex eats the ball, one of the coolet novelties in modern pinball games. Good theme you won't be embarassed to have in your home, and looks great with LED's. Not a great game, but a solid game that will keep the casual player's interest.
