This pin just does not grab me at all. I think it may be a good tournament pin but not one I want to own and I find myself dropping coins into other pins on location more than this one. I have no personal connection to the theme but even so the artwork and video feel like a generic clone of the movies.

I’ve had this game (jp pro) for 11 months now and finally decided to write a review.

First, I’m still playing this game 3 to 5 times a week. It is a ton of fun, and I appreciate the challenge of trying to perfect some of the harder shots (right ramp, etc). I finally watched Elwin’s tutorial on how this game works and learned that you can change your bonus for the smart missile. Mind blown! Use the action button on top of the table to get free ball, extra rescues, and even raptor tri-ball.

I have had a fair amount of technical difficulties. The tRex optical sensor was not working well from the get-go. My raptor pen sensor failed. Multiple metal components required me to manually bend them to correct shape. And now I am having issues with the jeep not rotating completely. Stern replaced everything they could and were very helpful. I ordered the recommended all metal thrust bearing for the jeep and will use silicone to lubricate it. Hopefully that will fix that issue.

I highly recommend following the advice on here to lower the slingshot power and reduce the launcher powers. I also agree with whoever commented to tweak the game rules to give more free balls. If it’s a home use machine, give people the best experience you can. I did have the chance to play a few rounds of the LE version and while I appreciated the extra mechanical components I did find it a bit more clunky. In particular shooting the raptor pen gate resulted in a lot of ball drains.

I love this machine design so much I just put a deposit down on a premium Godzilla. Very excited to see how Elwin’s designs have progressed.

An undeniably great pin, but it can be very difficult for average-skilled players to progress in the game. In my case, when I play JP, I find myself feeling more frustrated than entertained. It's a significant challenge to work through all the paddocks to get to the Visitor Center Wizard-Mode. Pro is lacking in mechanical toys and features.

Many pinheads will love the challenge of this pin, but I find it frustrating to the point that I have trouble enjoying the game. I think the layout is great, and the rules are great, but together they make for a very difficult game.

Just picked up a pro-version.Felt immediately as coming home to your favourite machine.
You can feel that a pinball player/designer made this, cause he only knows what you want and what makes a game last and give a blast.

So always on your qui-vive and the change of the shots with arrows are great!

Pretty long balltime but necessary for a good game, different with TWD (very short ball time)

Good thing about this game is that you can make up a good score with a single ball too, some machines are too much depending from multiball to get a good score.

This one you have either.

Fantastic game, funny and dangerous and spectacular and pretty fast.Intelligent progress on good shots.

Pinballplaying should be fun and challenging, well this one has it all!!

This is my first home PIN purchase. I had to decide between this and Godzilla. Love the Elwin games! I ended up going with JP due to saving $1000 buying it used. Even though it’s my only game, I constantly want to restart another one. The game modes/rules are what keeps me coming back. I have to say, although the artwork my not be my favorite, it’s more striking in person than online. There’s also a ton of mods out there for great customizations! Happy with my first PIN purchase!

Another layout masterpiece by Elwin, talk about flow. When I first got this game, I couldn’t believe just how many shots existed. Keith didn’t waste a single cm of footage on this game. Theme is great and I have to give Stern credit on how they executed the theme without the movie rights......it works well and will ultimately be a timeless pin because they left out the movie. Some seem to disapprove of the art, but I am good with it, in fact I think it fits the theme well. This is a must own game and once you own it, you will be lowering your scores on all other games.

Stern’s Jurassic Park keeps me coming back, even though I’m constantly getting frustrated with it. It’s a tough game, but every shot requires purposeful shooting to hit. Thus, every shot feels satisfying to hit successfully. The only shot whose quality I questioned was the smart missile/chaos shot with the truck seemingly always blocking it, but when you hit that shot, it’s arguably the most rewarding of them all. Furthermore, the rules are simple to understand, and the way Elwin and company combined narrative and playfield is impressive.

As for the theme, it’s artistically handled very well. We already have a JP 1993 movie pinball machine, a great machine. We did not need and do not need another movie tie-in machine. Jurassic is its own media franchise, and it is bigger than just the original film. Let’s also not forget that before it was a film, it was a book. Would it be as legitimate a complaint if I said the Stern JP pin should have followed the book more closely in its theme? Perhaps. It comes down to personal taste, of course. For me, if Stern had completely ignored the film for this pin’s theme and narrative, it would have been the perfect JP theming. Instead, we get weak references to John Hammond and company and an out-of-place picture of that slob Nedry on the playfield.

Otherwise, the greenery of the beautiful backbox, the colorful playfield, and the crisp animations all feel like JP in its own unique way within the pinball medium. I have no interest in reliving the 1993 JP movie nostalgia. If I did, I’d watch the film or play the Data East game, which I own.

The game itself is mostly fun, popular, and attracts attention at locations. The theming is okay, but there is hardly any actual movie assets in the pin. One thing that I really dislike is the 180 degree lift scoops that lifts the ball up to the wire forms. Very clunky and inconsistent. Even the auto-launch can't consistently get the ball up that lift scoop ... and can mess up your skill shot attempt - very frustrating. It's good that the Pro has wire forms instead of plastic ramps though. Other than those, the game layout and features are pretty good. The raptor pen is a let-down compared to pro/prem. The code is deep and there is a lot to accomplish and figure out (a good thing). Most of the graphics are good, but a few that look like a cardboard cutout puppet show don't match the others and are not that good. Good sound effects.

Love it and the Pro gives you all the shots! I never get tired of this game.

Code, call outs and story are all top notch. I wish the translite was better but I have an alternate which I highly recommend. Theme is one of the most recognizable in pinball. Really happy I bought this game, it's a go to for both guests and for me.

This is one of the best recent Stern games. The rules are very deep and addicting to dive into. The layout is really unique and the shots can have a lot of flow with combos. I feel like I can always come back to this game and have a blast.

Left ramp from top flipper is awful, leading to lots of drains down the right outlane. I hate when incompleted ramps lead SDTM, which does happen from the middle ramp. Overall, the shots are satisfying. As always, the left loop is hard to hit from the upper flipper. The set-trap targets are hard to hit when the jeep/newton does not swing freely back and forth.

My second Elwin pin... after owning and loving IMDN I really wanted Elwin's next effort and it didn't disappoint. I probably moved on from this game sooner than I would have liked and I would like to get it back one day. I rated it a little lower in the art department, mainly because of the playfield artwork I'd say, backless and cab are solid though... music is pretty great but where it shines is in the rules and the shots. Elwin just makes fun... unique shooting... and hard games. For me at least! I only have one gripe with the game and that is the first T-Rex multi ball on the pro takes way too long to start the mode, I get it if you have a premium and you get to watch the dinosaur eat the ball and then throw it around, but the unskipable animation on the Pro when the ball is back at your flipper waiting to go I always found frustrating. Game is amazing in all other aspects.

I feel like this is the best of the new Stern games that I have played even at $1 a game I just wanted to keep playing this one. I have never played the version premium or limited, but would imagine the dinosaur capturing the ball makes it even more fun.

im used to playing games on free play but this one was actually quarter operated so i didnt get to play it for as long as I liked. i was fun engaging with the dinosaur but for a fairly new stern game it already felt a little dated (maybe because it was based on an old movie haha)

Wow. What a great game. Tremendous flow and the shots are varied and all terrific. One of the best upper flippers yet. Artwork is okay but rules, flow, playability and fun are all top notch. May be the greatest "just one more game" pin ever.

Layout is so damn fun - unique yet punishing, but tons of flow available. Left side feels a little cramped, and the overall tone is a little more intense/serious than I prefer. Also on location it can be unclear what to shoot for with a mode running imo. Still a gem of a game and I can see why it's so highly rated.

This game checks a lot of boxes for me.

The playfield layout is top notch. It's got some satisfying ramps, flow shots, fun toys, and some more difficult shots. The upper flipper is well utilized. It's a masterpiece of a layout that is a lot of fun.

I find the artwork fairly average. There seems to be a disconnect between the bottom, map artwork, and the top of the artwork. It just isn't very cohesive. I wouldn't say it's bad, by any means. I just think it's the weakest part of the game as a package.

The sound design is good. Rules are good and callouts are decent, albeit repetitive at times.

It's a real bummer that Stern didn't seem to get any assets for the theme in this game. No real characters or even a jeep. They got one song and Nedry. Both of which are great, but just not enough. The modded code does fix a lot of these issues.

I do find certain aspects of the rules to be somewhat frustrating. Needing to refuel the chopper if you weren't able to make a shot is just frustrating. And this game suffers from needing to time out modes to progress further. Any game where timing out a mode is a valid strategy means it's poor rules in my opinion.

As much as I love the theme I'm not as big a fan as it seems I should be. This pin was just OK to me. Loved the raptor pen and liked the vehicle mech which makes for a really interesting take on directionally for the game. Clever Elwin!

When compared to Iron Maiden or AIQ this pin looks pretty and plays well but not my cuppa tea.

I really wanted to like this game but the playability at the arcade I was at was terrible. When you hit the raptor pit, it was a perfectly centered drain 100% of the time unless you nudge the machine hard. That’s bad flow and is a skill used to get you out of a bind not to simply play the game as it was designed. Art work is missing the mark by a long shot on the pro model. I’m a major fan of Elwin and love his other two games and the premium version of this machine is a lot better. Pro is a no go for me and I’ll never add it to my collection and will be skipping at at arcades from now on.

I tried to like this game but it just didn’t stick. I had the pro which lacked toys or playfield interest. Just way to sparse and wide open. I’m not a great player so I found the rules to be a little repetitive since I never managed to get to deep into the game.

Was happy to move it quickly and pick up an Iron Maiden in its place.

Solid pin with a great layout. Ball times are pretty long but still enjoyable. I’m not sure this would have lastibility given my tastes but definitely see why it is liked by many. Art and animation were a few areas that could be better in my opinion. However, the layout and overall feel are phenomenal and unique. Fun pin!
