It’s an impressive build but it lacks charm for me. Manufacturers will likely never make a game like this again as it’s a nightmare to maintain. It’s just too precious feeling for me. Like most JJP games it’s a lot of boutique flash lacking in soul and functionality. The rules and coding are great however and I’m sure it makes a great home game. I’m just not personally interested. Flag away! Haha

My top JJP by a mile and one my favorite games of all time. Incredible shot variety and playfield mechs. David Thiel's thrilling and intense soundtrack helps elevate this game through the ceiling.

i like this game, but its not the best thing ever. The rules are hard to understand with all these characters (at least if you don't own it) And the play field is dark. I wish they used more of it instead of cutting areas with the malstorm and pirate ship. Now, toys, its great with the disc and rocking ship, cannon, etc. Music and call outs are great. The plunger is weak for what reason?

Hopefully they may it again or some version of it.

Honestly their is way to much going on in this game to many characters to choose from and the play field is enormous with lots of stuff

Wow. What a game. When I first played it I was overwhelmed by the myriad choices. Once I bought my LE and spent some time learning the rules, I was blown away. IMO the most amazing pin ever made. So many things to do and so many mini wizard modes. You can stack anything with anything and choose so many different characters to play - each with benefits and penalties.
And the toys! Where did they get those marvelous toys? The rocking Black Pearl ship with a set of flippers and a cannon to fire your (cannon)ball at the other ship across the playfield. The whirlpool shot, the collectible gold, the compass that shows the best shot, the magnetic random mode bounce house, the star map that gives hidden clues - this game has it all! I installed a playfield protector which gave me an opportunity to take everything off of the playfield and see how well this game is made. JJP quality is the best! If you can find one for sale, don’t hesitate. It easily warrants the high price that it demands.

So I sold this game after having it in my collection for over a year....Game was pretty good. Found myself being drawn to other games in my collection after the initial honeymoon phase wore off. For the price it fetches I would prefer other options. It is a good solid new tech pin. I just feel it is a little bit overvalued. Very very pretty game. I wish they utilized the cannon shot a little bit more....I find my W.W.LE is more fun to shoot. J.J.P is great quality, if they were to renew the licence and the value deflated to what it cost N.I.B it would be a fantastic pin for the money. I would prefer to have a few premium new title Stern's rather than spend the equivalent money on one really expensive J.J.P with an overpriced value due to lack of production during the licencing timeframe....If money is no object and you want a stunning pin in your collection, this is your game!!!

I like this game but cant fall in love with it. Maybe I need to own it and play it hundreds of times to understand it better. But as a person that gets to play it on site other JJP games hold my interest more like dialed in or Woz.

Almost too many shots. The game doesn’t have enough flow. I love the awesome toys and depth of rules. The left side of the playfield almost seems beyond the reach of the right flipper at times. I would love to own this game but don’t see the value this game pulls currently. Bravo to JJP for making a great game, Wonka didn’t quite achieve the same awesomeness. Hopefully their next pin is a redemption. I love the mode start magnet and chest lock.

This game is the GOAT. There is no question about it. Plays fast (compared to other JJP titles), has a ton of shots, shoots like butter, ton of toys...the list goes on. It would take a lot to pry this baby out of my collection. This game is what got my wife into pinball, and my 2 year old chooses this game (out of my collection of 4) to play all the time!

Have owned this for about a year. It is very impressive and built like a tank. Game play is intense with all that is going on. I find myself playing it when I want full game immersion and long ball time. If I want a quick couple smooth games during a work break, the isn’t the machine I shoot. This is the machine that we’ve modified the most. And the one that the wife is drawn to the most. The only thing missing is theme integration (due to licensing) but the designer did superb with what licenses they did have to work with. Overall an amazing world under glass that I continue to strongly desire to play.

This is the first time I've rated a game.

The reason why I chose this, out of the three I own or the hundreds I've played over the last few decades is as a result of the complete surprise that Jersey Jack's Pirates of the Caribbean turned out to be for me.

The first time I played it, was on a spontaneous birthday trip visit that included a swing by Jersey Jack, well close enough, back in June 2018. I was aware of the game, and at the time, it was the first time I'd seen the Hobbit and Pirates, and my eyes glowed up, down, and over the Hobbit, while paying more attention to Pirates as a result of it's current prerelease status. I walked away enjoying it visually, but in no way being jaw dropped the same way I was at initial glance as I was with the Hobbit.

Fast forward to August, and I had a chance to play it at Helicon Brewing, and things started seeming more and more positive. As the months moved forward, and buzz started to hit for the game during Fall, I still scratched my head a bit at why this was being branded "GOAT", a term which in general annoyed me, and more so specifically seemed pretty grandiose for the game I'd been playing the past few months.

Well....fast forward to Valentine's Day 2019, and the game I HAD been playing, was eclipsed by this new game, the game Eric, Keith, Joe and Jack Danger streamed that fateful night. Finally, the potential of Pirates came crashing into my mind with a fever pitch. The layering of multiballs, the frenzy of gameplay...for a widebody...the incredibly diverse and accessible, yet challenging array of shots, and most of all the lush sound design and visual interface at play in the back box.

This game opened up before my eyes, like none other had prior. Mind you, I still have yet to play the way these gents played that night, oh so casually, but like a fine wine, an open sky filled with constellations avast, or a symphony in full harmony, I found myself understanding to some degree, a thing only others might inevitably master.

Months later, JJP's grand Pirates has found port in my fortunate home, and in running down this scoring checklist up above, and looking at this fine game down below, I can't find much of anything lacking in it, except for the fact that it's pedigree makes it a bit of an unfortunate orphan, but oh what an orphan to adopt.

Thanks for taking the time to read not so much my analysis of the game, but more so my path of understanding and appreciating it.

Be well, and flip on my friends! :)

Are you kidding me??? How this game is not in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place on the top 100 is mind boggling. I would take this game as my #1 pin any day over any other pin. I bought it recently after never playing it and not only did it live up to the hype, it blew it out of the water like a 100 mph cannonball from the Black Pearl.

Even my wife loves it....

There is so much to do.... can I complain about that? So many things to shoot for, maybe the rules are a bit complicated to someone who walks up and wants to just play a game and not know the rules.... but for a home collection I could not imagine a better pin for LASTABILITY out there. Liar's Dice for Video Mode - so much fun and frustration!! (Bastard cheating computer!)

I've played a lot and there are so many good games out there. POC JJP is just in a different class.

The ONLY points deducted from this absolute beauty is because as good as it is, JJP looks like it has abandoned the code and there could actually be a TON added. That, and it's a bit on the can't-just-walk-up-without-knowing-it side.....which to me, is a whatever thing, cause I'm rating it as a purchase for HUO...but if you want to nit pick that's really about it.

I don't understand anyone not liking this game. It's what modern games should all compare themselves to. "It's good, but is it as good a POTC?"

Like most JJP games, it is deep and challenging. In the arcade environment, it'll take you more than a few dollars to get familiar with the game play, game flow and shot selection. The ramps, though steep, are satisfying to hit. The call-outs are good, but should be better with more license integration. As a foil, the video clip utilization is not nearly as impressive as the Hobbit. However, the game-play and table layout (IMHO) is superior (to the JJP Hobbit). A great game, albeit a bit over-valued given the short initial production run and regular issues with clear-coat chipping and wearing. If a re-run ever occurs (with clear coat correction), one should consider this a strong buy.

This is an exceptional game. much like keith elwin did on his debut, Eric Meunier really dominated his debut game. i really did not like it until i put about 20 games on it. after that, i found myself really sinking my teeth in and enjoying the exceptional layout. very tough game, so not for rookies. however, it is easy enough to stay alive for a good ball time. this and Wonka are the BEST JJP games, with DI a close 3rd and WOZ 4th, but not far behind. i am constantly amazed at the feel of this game. as a widebody, it shoots FAST, and is very demanding on the player. the sounds are nice, but the narrator gets a bit old, kinda like Wonka. no movie elements are really in the game, so the theming is not there. nevertheless, the gameplay and mode lighting and features make this a keeper. someday perhaps i will own one. we shall see.

if you are a home collector, this is a Perfect home game. it will take the average player (like me) a year or more to pierce deep into the game ruleset, so that's a real good thing; you always want to play some more to see what the game is hiding. i love it.

i had the privilege to play a Collector's Edition at the museum of pinball. it is an absolutely gorgeous machine. it is a shame many players will never even SEE a CE, let alone play one. i am lucky. the RADCALS are absolutely stunning, shiny and smooth, and the topper is the BEST topper in pinball, period. the CE is just a dream machine. i have played an LE as well, and it is just as fun, but not as beautiful.

I would love this as a home game, but find it's depth to be intimidating onsite unless you can dump a lot into it. Once you learn the game, the rules and toys make each visit to the machine a different adventure. I'd love to have this in my collection.
