Having exact shots rewarded with sdtm returns gets old fast.

Pitty! Looks are there. Rules are there. Quality product.

To bad.

Phenomenal game! Amazing layout and many different ball paths and shots to think about. Definitely one of Jersey Jacks best games. I’m more than impressed with this theme, it has me pressing that start button over and over.

All my reviews are going to follow a simple formula for those reading.
Number of shots to make - Pro's - Con's - Must Have Mods - What To Look For When Buying

Number of shots - 10- Very High

Pro's:
* Ball paths are varied and seeming random at times, keeping you on your toes
* Rules are deep and challenging in a home environment
* Being able to stack all the multiballs together is a big plus
* The cosmetic presentation is like no other machine, particularly the Lion leg covers
* Love the topper machine gun effects during multiballs
* Choosing your family and the different rules and benefits around each keeps the game fresh
* The variety in skill shots is insane

Cons:
* Lack of actor call-outs is noticeable, the fake gangster voice is lackluster
* Having JJP staff as the bad guys sticks out as not authentic
* Brutally difficult game for beginners in particular, tough to complete jobs
* All the points are in the jobs so not balanced
* SDTM shots from above the upper flipper and right orbit can be deflating
* Rejected shots to Dons Office scoop

Must Have Mods: (Note I will not include things like LED's, Color DMD, Invisiglass or Speaker Upgrades unless it's really badly needed)
* An improved compound building
* Shooter plate if you like those
* Very little else, the game presents spectacularly

What To Look For When Buying
* Little tweaks to the shot paths, in particular the SDTM ones mentioned above
* Ensure the Dons Office scoop is bent upwards enough
* Check the dimpling amount and make sure it’s not too bad
* Ask if the side rails and lockdown bar have been replaced with the upgrades as the originals discolour very quickly

Beautiful pin ... incredible quality ... sure I wish it had some of the better music but overall a great machine with lots of staying power at home.

I am looking to buy a new game. I love JJP, and my wife loves The Godfather movies, so I knew it'd be an easy sell for her. I walked up to a CE today and thought "Wow! This machine looks incredible!" But then I played it. The game just didn't hook me. There weren't any shots that I was thinking "I'm going to play until I make that shot." I understand why, but the theme music isn't on the game, which is disappointing. The guy in the back was cheesy, and looked like he belonged on a gangster themed game in the vein of Cactus Canyon (the game I am probably buying instead). I can buy a Cactus Canyon and a JP Premium for nearly the same price as this one game. This was a disappointing bust for me.

This is a beautiful game. It has the toughest shots of any game I've ever played and the latest code makes the game even harder. It is definitely not for a novice player, however it is taking my play to a new level. All the different multiballs are fun, the callouts are cool, the topper is awesome. It cost a fortune but the build quality is outstanding.

Another great game from Eric. Godfather movies and gangsters theme integration are perfect. Gliter playfield is beautiful. The interactive topper is the best that I have ever seen. Musics and lcd screen are very funny. I like the 22 skills shots. The gameplay is deep ruleset with a lots of strategy. The risks and award is top. Like all JJP’s games, it's a work of art.

UPDATE: In the top 100, the CE version ranks below Alice Cooper and P3 Weird Al ??!?? This has to be a mistake. I own both of those games and they don’t come close to GF. I think the rankings here can no longer be trusted. Godfather CE stands out from the LE and Pro model. Should be in top 10 for sure. I bought my CE two months ago. It remains my favorite. Some friends have commented it’s too hard to get multiball. It is hard, but I can usually do it now. So I rate the difficulty as perfectly balanced.

When the topper thugs light up with their machine guns, it is a real crowd pleaser. Also, they start firing in attract mode occasionally which always kind of freaks me out. I no longer keep the game on if I’m not actively playing.

The left middle flipper is not a problem blocking the center target thug. Just release it quickly. This game has excellent shots and depth. It is the best of the JJP games thus far. This is one that will stay in my collection forever. Only the CE has the topper and the topper is what makes this game stand out. More so than any other topper I own.

Criticisms:
1) It is too hard for newbies. The ‘bad guy’ seems to release the ball dead center too often draining down the center. I’m going to experiment with nudging the game near point of release to see if that improves trajectory. (It does. Nudge pin at release)
2) Unlike Guns&Roses, multi-ball is much harder to achieve, but very satisfying when you get it. The topper ‘Tommy guns’ light up. The topper adds so much to this game.
3) Right ball lock is a hard shot to make. Reminds me of Rick&Morty garage shot. Frustrating when you can’t get it after multiple games….

I am a collector, not a pro who requires a deep, arcane rule set, but the rules are still pretty deep. I can’t understand the criticisms of this game. It is right up there with Godzilla, Alien and my beloved Scared Stiff.

Like most Jersey Jack games, the Godfather is a beautiful pinball machine with a lot of different mechs and toys. It's a long player with a lot of time in multiball. However it's better than most JJPs in that it's not so full of stuff that the playfield is too crowded. The shots are generally satisfying and the flippers are significantly stronger than what JJP had done before. It's a good game. I agree with other comments that it would work better in a home environment where you have more time to figure out the rules and grind a little bit rather than expect to see everything the game has to offer in fifteen or twenty minutes.

I don't dislike the gangster theme, but the problem with the Godfather specifically is that there's no way to inject any humor into it. It's a great film, but it's not funny in any way. The only joke I can even think of from the movie is "Leave the gun; take the cannoli." Other violent movies like Pulp Fiction have a humorous side but the Godfather does not. The absence of any humor in the game makes it seem like it takes itself too seriously and it's not as fun as a result.

On some machines I've experienced the problem that a decision not to flip the upper flipper when the ball passes by will result in a SDTM drain. That shouldn't happen and on most machines I've played it doesn't, but it's frustrating when you get one that does. Other than that it plays well, a lot better than most JJPs. Overall while it wouldn't make my top ten, it's a very good game and I enjoy it.

Of all the JJP titles this one seemed the best "out of the box" in terms of the level of depth and coding that was playable. They still have a lot more to do but what is there is a lot of fun and seems to have a robust set of modes and rules related to them. I hope they get more video clips and sound clips from the movie in there as that is what makes this game! As most JJP games are seems a little too multiball heavy but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, just seems they are too easy to start. Likely will play with settings to try and calm that down a little. The game physically is beautiful and lighting and sound quality is great and topper with CE is top notch. Hope to see the game progress with a lot more added but it is already quite a bit of fun with what is there.

This game is Eric's best in my opinion. Deep ruleset, smooth shots, improved flippers. The theme integration is top notch. I can see how the voice actor is annoying to some. It doesn't bother me, but I know a few owners who have shut him off. Beautiful artwork all over the CE and the Topper is a sight (and LOUD).

I actually own the LE model but I finally got to play my friends CE and thought it was awesome. I already loved the LE but I have to admit I’m a bit jealous of the CE owners. The topper is just cool (a bit loud but shouldn’t gun fire be loud) and the extra bling brings the wow factor up a notch. This game is just fun shooting game that starts off nice and calm but once you get a few multiballs going then it turns into a fast action game. Most of the time you have full control of when and what multiball you start and it adds a nice layer of risk reward as you try to get the perfect stack. The shots are fun and smooth with a few challenging ones and a few easier ones which I think is a perfect layout. The code seems might seem difficult at first but once you understand the rules it’s actually pretty basic but definitely fun. I especially like the risk reward part of trying to blow up a single job/mode and cashing out a fatty! As of today this game is missing the final wizard mode but everything up until then is a blast…and to be real most people never reach the final wizard mode anyway. This is my favorite Jersey Jack game as of today. I also want to make note of how cool the sounds are and how they just feel relaxing as you play it.

No other pinball machine as beautiful as this one. This put aside, the machine plays very well, sounds good, looks good, and the flipper strenght is well improved. The extracts from the movies are judiciously picked.

I got a small issue with the flipper that were not tightened enough when leaving the factory but once solved, this is rocking solid !

Bought my collector's edition by seeing it and watching others play before i had a chance of playing. I think it is one of the best-looking machines out there. The finish and artwork on the cabinet is awesome as is the playfield.
When first playing it,i thought i might have been a bit eager on the purchase but after a few games i started to learn the rule set and love playing every game and is currently my go to machine and will be a keeper in my collection for some time.

Talk about a shinny turd. There is no doubt that JJP knows how to make a beautiful looking machine. Unfortunately layout/flow, flipper feel and game code lacks for me. Wonka is still their best machine and it’s not close and even that machine is meh.

This game is the ultimate example of a game that you need to play a lot at home. Not necessarily fun in an arcade for a few games. I had already ordered and was waiting on a CE, and found an LE to play in an arcade in May. I was not overly impressed and I understand how a lot of people who try this at an arcade do not like it. I finally got the CE and after a 100 plus games at home, I figured it out and love it! Doing a job like “Hung Jury” and stacking a multi ball or two and using the bonus multiplier a couple of times, then cashing out for 400 million or so is about as much fun as I’ve ever had playing any game…

Bottom line is this game is a lot of fun to play, absolutely gorgeous to look at. There is a lot of different variations, the rules are actually easy enough to understand after you play a little bit. For me, the theme is absolutely awesome as I am a mob movie freak, so that was a no-brainer for myself. I’m sure anybody that owns this game will agree that it is absolutely stunning to look at and play.

I ve read a lot of feedback and reviews while i was waiting for my ce to arrive and now it s time to share my personal opinion!
First, the look of themachine is really stunning, the build quality is over the top as per other jjp but the large topper and added legs look really impressive and stand out in my lineup
Now i have to say that i understand the critics of people that only played a few games, the rules are not straight forward, it can sometime get confusing between the mode going and jackpot shots from multiball for example but as soon as you get used with the colors scheme it clears out but that will come with some practice.
The callout are great and help in that matter by telling you what to aim for.
I really like the divertors and especially the left ramp witch change between a ramp and a locked shot like wonka left flipper for those familiar.
The loop is also very satisfying in a similar way to potc but harder to hit
Regarding shots they are very satisfying but not easy to get. It s a bit like jurassic park, it takes a bit to dial in.
Lastability seems long, there is a ton to do and it s not an easy pin!
Last thing, i thought the knocker effect would be gimmicky with the topper firing but it s really intense and adds a lot to the atmosphere
Edit after 6 month: game still a lot of fun, there are still a lot to achieve and plenty of depth pushing score higher. It's a hard pin and probably a turnout for new pinball players but has a long lifetime in a collection. I really enjoy the different option to play it, focus on missions or killing the enemies... It is also a stunning machine, everyone visiting my gameroom usually stop in front of it and press start

Hated this game when I first played it a few months back. Fast forward to Pinball Expo '23 and I've fallen in love with it, and even my wife and kids wanted to keep playing multiplayer games at the show. Of the new-to-me games at expo, I would probably still put Pulp Fiction above GF for now, but GF is a very close second.

Godfather is not a fun. It is clunky and honestly not fun to play. I made the mistake of buying CE before playing it and I will never make this mistake again because when I sold the game, I lost my ass on it. However... My finical loss has nothing to do with how the game plays as my rating would be the same even if I had made money. So let be honest, the game looks amazing. Some would say “tacky” but it looks incredible in person. The build quality of a JJP is top notch and GF is no exception. The lighting, INCREBIABLE! Par for the course with JJP as well. The sound is sorta meh. I mean how many versions of “Speak Softly Love” can you put into one game? So sick of hearing that song… ugh Theme wise I did not mind the mix of JJP characters and real assets from the movie, it works for me. Infact some of the content is very cool like the match screen with the scene of the severed horse head in the bed. lol Good Shit! In general, the fact that there is a fair amount of adult content in the game is cool IMO. The topper is AMAZING! If you are going to buy this game do yourself a favor and buy the CE. The topper is INCREDIABLE and it is hands down, the coolest topper I have seen for ANY pinball machine! It adds so much to the game and it is loud as #UCK!

So here is where the wheels sorta fall off the bus. The gameplay… It’s just not fun. The shots are clunky and the shots that should be fun, are not. Like the upper flipper loop shot. Hitting loop shots are usually always fun for me, not on this game. The bad guy in the center, not fun either and the spinning disc is kinda lame when ruffing up the bad guy. It just doesn’t really add anything to the game play. Beyond all this a lot of shots in the game can send the ball SDTM. The orbit shot on the left can send the ball whipping around and result directly in a center drain. Now a I know a lot of people are going to say the game is heavy on the mulitballs but honestly, it really isn’t. Getting to them the first time is pretty easy but there after it becomes increasingly more difficult. The skill shots in the game are cool and there is a ton of them, most which I didn’t even understand! The risk reward factor is cool with cashing out modes but it really just all circles back around to me as to how the game feels when you play it and the answer again is clunky.

I guess overall I would say this… A game needs to have that feel. When you play it, it needs to have those feel-good shots and GF has none of them. Also when you end a game, it needs to have that “just one more game feel”, again GF doesn’t have that. With that said, this is my opinion. You should try it for yourself and who knows, GF could be the next POTC in years to come but I doubt it. I have owned POTC and it is 1000x better than this game!!!
