I have owned this for about a month now and put some serious time into it and feel I can rate it fairly. I first played bond premium last November at a buddy's. We played 5 hours straight and I loved it, however at the time the code was very lacking. I decided I would wait to see before I pulled the trigger. The code hit .96 and I decided it was time to become a bond owner. I decided to go with the pro as the shots and layout are all the same as the premium. Do you lose some cool features? Absolutely you do but the pro is still an amazing game.

The layout is unique in my opinion. It took me a while to find the shots but once I did I was able to find very good and rewarding flow. This a very deep pin mode wise , which I am a huge fan of. There are so many modes and they are done well with great video assets. I think this a pinheads machine and not particularly casual friendly. The deeper you get in this game the better it gets. My best games where you see a mini wizard or 2 are in the 30 plus minutes range. The new code has made it more accessible to casuals with the addition of smart missiles and reducing the amount of shots required to qualify villains and henchman.

I think with a few more updates and polish this is gonna end up being one of sterns greats. If you initially wrote bond off I would suggest seeking one out and giving it another try.

007 is fun! My high score is between 103 and 104 million. I like the toy rocket (it is called bird 1) and the villain modes. But i only played at 1 location.

This game is definitely designed for the player. I don't see it ever being a huge game in the competitive scene...It doesn't stack well and isn't an "action packed" experience. It rewards the player with patience and planning. The primary goal of this pin is progression, which I love, but not everyone does.

The current code at the time of this review (0.97.0) is amazing, but it still needs something to tie everything together - it lacks cohesion. You will struggle to score well unless you dial in your shots...Bond Girl multipliers are huge, but you need to be a strong shooter to build these up AND activate them in a lucrative mode/MB without draining.

Personally, I'd rather see games like this in high level play vs something like "rip the spinner, grab a mode, start multiball, rinse, repeat". My accuracy and general pinball playing skill has improved tremendously since picking up a Bond - you can't flail and make much progress or score very well on Bond.

The new code has really made this game a hidden gem. From a game I initially was never interested in, to a game I would now keep in my collection.

Updated 11/1/23 with 0.97 code: Bought this in April trusting Stern would fix the code, and boy have they. Multipliers, smart missiles, mini-wizard modes, and they’re not even done yet. Single best improvement is that it’s now just one shot to a ramp to start a villain or henchman mode—eliminated the worst of the wood-choppiness of this game. It’s now reasonable for any player to expect to sometimes get through six villains and this to a mini-wizard mode (3 out of 4 of which are pretty fun). I find myself drawn to it even over my newer-acquired pins and no longer intend to sell it any time soon. Can’t wait for 1.0.

Old review: Fun to shoot absent code/rules, which drive me crazy as of the latest sub-1.0 code. Too much chopping wood, and most wizard modes are too hard to get to. Which is a shame, because while the regular modes are a snooze, the wizard modes are all super fun to play. It feels like punishment getting to them, though.

This game has serious potential to join Deadpool, Guardians, and Stranger Things in the pantheon of terrible launches that get redeemed by future code updates and polish. Just like those other games, this one shipped woefully incomplete and missing too many modes and features to be anything other than underwhelming. The good news is that it has a wonderfully unique layout by George Gomez that has a perfect ratio of easy to hard shots. I find it a blast to shoot around on. But the bad news is that even a year later, the game still doesn't feel fully done. I'm hopeful for this one and will update in the future that changes the narrative, and makes this game as good as it deserves to be. I think that the art package is absolutely gorgeous and maybe the best stern art package ever. It's subtle, textured, period correct for the original films, and well laid out on the back glass and playfield.

Played it today! I think this game is going to be considered one of the top games in time. The layout is unique and reminds one of how Deadpool feels when playing. Awkward in a way, but so fun and cool flow once you dial in the shots. If any suggestions, I want more light effects to go with each movie theme and please add more sound. It needs a little more in the variety of music and sound effects.

OK, so I was so excited about this pin from inception and had a premium on order, which I canceled once I played the pro days after release. I LOVE Gomez! BUT, I felt the pin was just shallow at best. Then I played it on location over the months. It kept getting better and better with code updates. Not sure how code updates make the shots just 'feel' better, but they actually do. Love the Spectre shot and the wavy ramp on the pro along the backside, LOVE the left weird Deadpool feel ramp, beginning to even really like the water scene VUK and how if you hold the left flipper up you can make it more consistently. I mean WOW, I freakin' LOVE this pin now. I like the music, but come on...we need some more songs! I actually LOVE the cabinet art left side. Who doesn't like Bond girls in bathing suits and sexy dresses, bright yellow? I like the backglass, Sean Connery, gun in hand, large red letter DR NO. I mean it feels so good and right. I hate the other side of the cabinet art movie posters. That side is next to another pin. Resolved. I like the call outs. I think it has a LOT of stop and go that you can double flip through thank goodness. I can't seem to get any other top flipper shots which is really pissing me off, however...I need a little more time. Just got the pro a few days ago, to tide me over, because I really want an LE with topper. Man that topper is simple, but I LOVE it!!!! I'm not really a topper flipper either. I just love it. So far on my routed beat up pro I've put LE Kenwood speakers and lights, cleaned the mother top to bottom, ordered all kinds of mods for it, installed the Bond 60 shooter today...hate to spend that kind of dough on a shooter, but got a deal and I just like it, got mirror blades for it, light fixes, loop fixes on the way, plastic protectors, etc. The bottom line is I just like shooting the pin. The audio package is good. Needs more songs, but I like what is there so far. I put like 25 games on the Elwin Bond on location. OK, I like Elwin. I LOVE Godzilla Premium and the way Iron Maiden shoots. BUT, my favorite all time pin is Deadpool...I freakin LOVE the way it shoots, the simple ruleset, of course the Cleland sound package is absolutely amazing! I also love my Stranger Things with Cleland sound package. Cleland takes pinball to entirely NEW level. Maybe he can do a Bond sound package???? Anyway I want an LE with topper because I freakin LOVE the powdercoating, the shots, it's just got the entire package. I really like the pro too though so I was actually thinking maybe I would keep that pro at my house and move the LE when I get one to my condo. I actually had an LE with topper lined up and deposit put down before I got the pro and the guy said he just loved it too much to let it go. The code is just getting so very good! It's FAST, it's FURIOUS, and it's FUN!

I was not a fan of this game when it came out, but I decided to give it another chance and I am glad I did. Unlike the other big pinball company, Stern has been clear about what they will add and that they will continue to support the game regularly with updates. If you can get over the bright cabinet art, the layout is refreshing and I believe once it reaches 1.0 it will be an excellent game.

Regardless of issues with the license that is keeping this from being a top 10 game, as it really kills the rank score. Gomez is a layout genius. Mike and Lonnie are doing magic with this game with rules and code.

In the end when the code is complete and polish / bugs zapped. The only bad to complain about will be the restricted use of music and forced to used artwork.

It really is that good of a game.

Always thought this game was fun but the new code makes it out of this world. Great game.

I played this on location. I did like the shots in this game, however, I felt like my balls keep falling into the left side scoop over and over again. Maybe the game wasn't leveled correctly, or maybe that is part of the design, but I felt like it kind of interrupted the game flow a bit too much. I really did enjoy the left orbit shot goes up into a ramp and the up the middle bash toy. This version of Bond is a little before my time but I still think the theme is cool, although I think that the overall artwork could have been designed better.

With the new code this game really shines. The unique layout of the ramps and objectives make it a fun and interesting change from most pins I’ve played. I’m really enjoying it currently, which is a big surprise as I totally dismissed it prior to the new code. I wish the artwork was more original, but it’s decent and has a retro feel to it.

Do yourself a favor and ignore some of the early pinside criticism.

Interested layout and I like the theme. The shots are interesting but didn’t find them really fun. My expectations were too high for this machine.

I have about 50 plays on Bond pro. It's my first Gomez design that I've owned. Fun flowing pin. I like the difficult side ramp, provides a tough challenge. Excellent theme for me. If you can string together a three or four way combo the game shines. Will update this review as the code develops.

Update (code.97) game is great now. The skill shot for missile reward is awesome. I still suck at getting to 7x though.

Got this as a NIB trade for my Mando Pro when I had my fill of it.

The artwork is 'good enough'. I think the play field looks well done, and the cabinet with the various movie poster art isn't bad even if people would prefer original artwork on their games. This is a tribute to the Connery Bond era, and I think the vintage movie posters do the job.

The layout is a blast to play. It shoots differently from a lot of other games with the 'droopy' flippers that help to give better angles to side shots. These also make trapping up a bit more challenging forcing the player to take more shots on the fly. There is a great variety of shots on the playfield, although some of them are tight. This is especially true with the Jetpack shot, and the shot between the combined ramps. If you aren't on your game it can feel a bit clunky at times, and some of the slow roll backs will go STDM.

The music is straight from the movies, and it works well in the game. The main Bond theme can get a bit old after a while, and the post game music seems to play for a bit too long. Call outs are good, and the cut scenes mid mode are all assets from the movies which is nice.

The Pro is really well appointed, and George made a great choice when he kept the DB5 VUK as part of the pro offering. I think with the DB5 and the rocket, you have some great interactive toys on the playfield. My one gripe is that the specter launch tower is boring to look at on the pro as just a plastic box with a light on it.

With the current low prices due to immature code (which has come a long way so far at 0.94) this is one of the best values in pinball. Even though code isn't complete, there are a ton of modes to work through that will keep this fresh in a line up for quite a while.

I don't like the look of it, but it sure plays nice, bash the rocket cool,...good ramps ,good loops, the small tight shot between the ramps on the right feels rewarding to hit...I think the game is fun to play!

Fun game to play on location, liked it enough to purchase a premium version for the house to get the additional features. Still needs a bit of polish which is coming with code updates but all in all an excellent shooter with a variety of shots, wizard modes & excellent theme integration considering the limitations of the licensor.

Pleasantly surprised, found it by accident, and scored a multiball my 2nd game. I'm over 50 so I theme and music work for me. Rocket bash toy is ok. Ball failed to come out of the car roof a few times. Killer lighting and sound. Love the yellow cabinet and the girls on the side. Will play again and hope to own at some point.

This game was a fine wine for me and it has gotten better but the upper flipper ramp shot is still a tough/tight shot for a key shot for game progression.

Update: The code has gotten much better on this game and it is noticable. I find myself more drawn to playing this the more I play it and dive deeper into it. Definitely a fine wine from release and I've gotten better at the side ramp shot which helps improve experience.

I owned this for a month or so. I found it to be the worst Spike 2 game out there. For me, it’s the layout - not the missing code. Too many dead or clunky areas like the big scoop on the left - it’s huge and there’s already the car that could be a scoop, and an in-lane post. Clunky shots, but when things combo it’s fun. It’s super disappointing to me
