I really like this game, hence why I ended up buying one. The art is top notch and the theme integration is great and only getting better with Spooky's constant updates.

The playfield flows exceptionally well with lots of different shots. Not all loops or ramps like some other games that can get boring. This one has them all from drops to ramps to loops and 2 additional upper playfields. The unique inlane returns from the under the playfield subways are certainly something to get used to.

I'd like to see more video integrated and better settings in the operator menu to adjust rules (easy - hard). But, I know Spooky is working on the code for this game and if their updates to Ultraman are any indication, this one will really shine even better in the future.

Halloween has the most beautiful cabinet artwork and backglass I have ever seen. Jason Edmiston's artwork is phenomenal! The hand-painted likenesses of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, Donald Pleasance as Dr. Loomis and even co-stars PJ Soles and Nancy Kyes as Linda and Annie are incredible - and of course the various representations of The Shape/Michael Myers. The theme of the original 1978 masterpiece is perfectly captured - you feel like you're in Haddonfield from the time you step up to the machine. The artwork is incredibly colorful and pleasant to look at. Spooky avoided the trap of having way too much black and orange and a sparse art package. As we like to describe pinball as a functional piece of art, this machine is indeed, very much a work of art. Plus you have the cool as hell topper with the iconic logo and Michael Myers' knife actually stabbing into the backbone thanks to a cool motorized mech. If you go with the butter cabinet it's a whole new level of beauty.

This game is INTENSE! As soon as you plunge, you are literally plunged into a world of suspense and terror. The callouts are perfect. They have a voice actor doing a Dr. Loomis impression, and it's pretty darn close to Donald Pleasance. The callouts from PJ Soles as Lynda are a joy. The music is exactly what you want - a combination John Carpenter's iconic theme to get things pumping, other classic Carpenter selections from the soundtrack that are instantly recognizable and other fitting musical selections so you never get bored with the main themes.

The animations are getting better all the time with each new update to the game. They are not bad. They're quite passable and fitting for the art style and for the game. I love that Spooky basically has the whole movie to draw clips from. More and more get added all the time.

The gameplay is challenging. It's a Spooky layout. That means the shots can be a little tight and it's not a typical fan layout - but damn if it isn't a lot of fun. This is a perfect game for home use. You're not going to get tired of the game overnight. The shots are rewarding. There's some things that I've never seen in pinball before, and forthcoming mods will only make it more amazing. There's a lot of modes to play, the new wizard mode is awesome. The way you get into it is fantastic. This is a game that will improve your pinball skills and that you'll have a lot of fun locating the shots.

The game is an absolute blast. Best played in a dimly lit home environment where you can hear the music and the callouts clearly. I've never played a game that has this sense of suspense and horror. The closest is some of the moments in Dracula - this blows Dracula away. When the games light show goes off and the shaker motor kicks in - it can give you a real start! This game made me jump a couple of times.

I truly believe the people scoring this game lower either are Stern fanboys or are not horror fans. I've heard a few personalities in the community just seem not to get this game. But they are the same ones who don't like the idea of horror themes. I love horror movies. I love horror pinball games. Every horror fan that I've talked to that has played this game has LOVED it and wanted one in their home. I've been playing Halloween on location, but my Halloween will be bolted to the floor next to Elvira's House of Horrors, Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle, Elvira and the Party Monsters and Rob Zombie's Spookshow International. It perfectly fits that lineup and is just different enough too! If you love Halloween, horror movies and original layouts, this game is a permanent keeper!

Game has a truly unique layout and as of 1.11 code, the game is coming along, lot of polish is being done finally and new scoring opportunities and modes has greatly opened up the game with promise of more to come. Still a few bugs to iron out and some further spit shine, and this is gonna be a solid title that had a rough start

Like many new owners of this title I ordered my CE before I ever played a single ball, I’m such a fan of the theme. Having now played the game dozens of times, I’m convinced Spooky did a fantastic job designing this game. The theme integration, music and atmosphere are perfect. Some licensed pins feel like the game is missing key content (JP2, imho), but not here. They squeezed every last drop out of the movie soundtrack to fill out the modes and attract sounds and effects. The artwork is very impressive and original, and not simply cut/paste/photoshop. The cabinet features awesome Halloween pumpkins for the speaker and flipper covers, and the topper is one of the best. The gameplay is very good, with several ramps that are well-placed and feed the upper 2 playfields. The game has a ton of things to do, and even the 3 hedge shots are fun to make. My fav music is the main theme used in Hedge Multiball. The game has a good balance of flow, with a fair amount of stop/go. That’s hard to avoid with so many playfields and places to shoot the ball. Some clever innovation with the VUKs feeding the inlanes too. The callouts aren’t great. I’m not sure who the girl is supposed to be (a kid? Lynda?) and Loomis is ok sometimes and some callouts are pretty off. Plus, they use some original audio movie quotes, which I prefer to the actors. But, all the callouts really help direct the player, and this game is very good at doing that. Some people don’t like the animations, but I’m ok with them. Durability remains to be seen, but I was impressed with TNA. This is a very impressive offering from Spooky, regardless of theme. The only criticism I’d give is the game is very hard to play. It’s not a casual shooter where an average player can easily do well. You really have to use skill to finish modes or collect jackpots during multiball. So it can be a bit frustrating. But for me, they totally nailed Halloween, my favorite classic horror movie.

What a looker - home run on all physical aspects of Halloween theme from backglass to cabinet. The music and sound is fantastic (FTR multiball -awesome) enjoyed in home environment where you can hear it.
The actual layout/design is quirky, and plays decent, not great. Not sure who exactly designed the game (which is odd) but it’s big on creative ideas that don’t exactly come together play wise as a complete package. The stuck- hung up balls, airballs, animation/software and pf build issues have been variable on this release for over a year. These aspects have me questioning early play testing and build quality impacting lastability score.
A great package for die hard fans who appreciate Spooky’s home brew approach and any gremlins that come along with it.

Up there with the most beautiful and true to theme pins I’ve seen. Ruleset could use a little adjustment, but I know they’re still working on it. Great quality overall, and I’m glad the Collectors Edition comes with $2500+ of extras included(shaker, art blades, moving topper with LED’s, flipper toppers, etc). I haven’t seen a butter cabinet in person, but the vinyl wrapped cabinet is gorgeous enough. The 2 upper playfields are fun, and I haven’t had any issues with CE #283 & we’ve played it for months. This is one that people wait in a line for during a party because it’s so unique. Plenty bright enough to play with the lights off. The shots seem like this was designed by a pinball novice, but it could be fun for the right person. I wish they had not wasted sure a gorgeous pin with these repetitive shots.

Owned for over a year now, not a terrible game, not the greatest either. Decent shooter with some variation. Theme is great, artwork is amazing. Doesn’t have that wow factor, but it’s a fun game. The animations do need work, they are pretty bad, the music is ok, I like having don’t fear the reaper in multi ball. I think if the code and animations are improved, perhaps adding some more music, maybe some Rob Zombie music from his Halloween movies, this could be a solid game. It’s different for sure, which I like, just needs some more tweaking.

This game was so much more fun than I had originally expected it would be. It is super addictive making me almost forget about my other games! Amazing light show and the 2 upper playfields are pretty awesome too. This will be a game that probably stays in my collection permanently.

I love the spooky finishing. Not to mention the equipment for the price point !

That feels like a rare object and not a pin you would see in any bar!
Code is improving and the newly 1.07 is already a huge improvement.
Last piece of work would be the videos.

Exceptional game, WOW. Creepy, i love it. Take a dozen of games to begin to really appreciate. With code 1.07, is already an awsome game, and i hope more to come. Fun and addictive.

Played this game a dozen or so times. I love the theme and the CE delivers lot of great extras. I really wanted to love it since I’m a big fan of the movie.

I’m not really fond of mini playfields which makes up the majority of this game. I don’t think the lastability would be very good unless you’re absolutely enamored with the theme. Not enough interesting shots for me.

Played in others collection, 1.07 software. Wow. Unique layout has me from the start but rules need polish. Immersive, theme nailed. Very fun to shoot. Spooky gets the rules finessed, this will truly be a collectors edition. Updated :8/6/22–new code even better. Much more professionally implemented and repeated playing is felt strongly. New artists working on better code in next update is in the grape vine

10/31/22. New rules and art implementation seems promising. Spooky promised another year of updates. Despite others having occasional issues spooky is great with feedback and repairs if needed.

Owned this for several months now, love, love, love it! I think the Spooky team hit this out of the park and developed a very unique and super fun pin. Nailed the theme beautifully with game play, art package, and sound design. The code continues to come along nicely with the latest adding in a wizard mode and making improvements to ones that have been there from the start. Many is the evening where I tell myself Ok, one more game and several games later I'm still hitting the start button and saying Ok this one is really the last game. Halloween is one of my favourite movies of all time so some bias here is probable but friends that come over and play it are also having an absolutely great time playing it. One of the more popular pins in my collection and is easily my third favourite of those I own.

Huge fan of original movie, so a no brainer for me. Now that I have 50 or so games played love it even more. Still learning the rules so always something new. Bought it NIB #423 and thankfully the locale pinball tech delivered it. Left flipper & start button we’re in inoperable but he tweaked them both & it was game on. Everything works great & artwork is excellent.

Overall really nice package. Cabinet and playfield art are some of the best I’ve seen. Lots of shots. Both the upper playfields are fun to shoot and keep the game interesting. Animations are ok and film quality could be better. Code still needs polish. Needs some work on sound/music mixing as well. Was really excited to hear don’t fear the reaper but really didn’t enjoy it with the audio mix. I like the subway shots and how they feed the in lanes a lot. Only shot I don’t love is the pumpkin. Only way I can consistently hit it without rejects is a backhand shot. I think the game will continue to improve with code updates as the bones are solid. Nice job spooky.

Fun Fun Fun and so immersive!!! I think the only other pin that has sucked me in this hard was Alien.

This has to be Spooky's best pin. It feels so solid!! I'm a big Stern Fan Boi and Spooky has me excited for their next title.

Everytime I play it there is something new that has be in awwww.

Gameplay and code are there and yet there is more to come. Shots are great, layout is great, theme is absolutely amazing.

Well done Spooky!!!!

I've had 90-100 different games from 2014 until present (collection varies from 15-25 games), this was my first Spooky game and I really wanted to like it. Art and shooter rod were top notch.... I wish them well but I've never wanted to get rid of a game so fast. I highly recommend playing it first. Replaced it with a modded out Avengers Premium for the same $$$, what a night and day difference.

An absolutely beautiful pin and one of my fav themes of all time, but the game play is lacking. On top of that the ball continued to get hung up on the upper playfield and the ball search would not move it. Very disappointed in this pin, and I really wanted to like it.

It's pretty crazy how many people either love or hate this game.. I was skeptical as well after reading the reviews but am glad I pulled the trigger when I found one. I know people prefer games with "flow" and it does have a couple flowy shots but I appreciate it for how unique it is. The alternate playfields are very clever and fun. I find myself coming back to it again and again to fight Michael. My only complaint is the center ramp can reject even if you hit it perfect so it's a gamble sometimes. Just have to be on guard!

I was very worried having bought this without playing, and seeing enough negative reviews I was genuinely worried... I am very glad I didn't cancel my spot! This game is very fun, and belongs in a *HOME* collection. On a route, I don't think I would like it at all. In fact, my first few games on it my heart sunk a bit. I didn't *love* it... it was only after a few games that I really started to get into the genuine fun... the one more game feeling is in this one just like Rick and Morty...

PROs
-Hard enough, deep enough out the gate. Impressed. Nice variety of shots and modes even with the early code. There's a "first shot" 2 ball multiball, and the ability to set the skillshot. They use their many targets wisely. And I think the code will only get better!
-Looks fantastic. Great looking game. The art, the playfield, everything. It looks fantastic and other than the bushes which I'm not a big fan of, not cheaply done at all. Each Spooky game in my opinion looks less and less like a "home brew" and this is no exception. Best looking game yet
-Spooky knocked the theming out of the park - the "story" and clips from the movies are SPOT ON, although I'm not a fan of *their* animations (Michael in the back seat for example), they look.... I don't know, far from amazing. Almost like stop motion animation.... think early South Park lol. I think they could have done better in this department. They also could use a few more videos, although I haven't discovered nearly all of them
-Great callouts!!
-The sound system is phenomenal. Great speakers. Kills competitors in my opinion.
-Price. Compared to competitor's, for what you get this is really good value

Cons
-A bit confusing on where to shoot at any time
-Rules could use some polish. There's one mode that the callout says "Don't shoot the red targets" and there's a message on the screen "hint: Shoot red targets". That's only example. I think this is stuff that can be fixed though..
-Animations, as mentioned above, are just meh.
-Had some problems with various things, and unfortunately the only way I could fix the orbit shot was getting 3rd party magnet switches (forget the name)
-Too many subway shots kills the flow. Although this is probably more on purpose than anything, the amount of subway shots (5) that each take 2-3 seconds minimum to get the ball back really hurt the flow of the game. It's the most start-stop game I have probably ever played. For this reason, I can't also see this game on route or a casual fan (unless they are really into Halloween) really liking this one

At any rate, if you like Halloween, or have a collection of more than 3 games I think this will fit in great. I would recommend it, but I could also see why some people wouldn't like it as well. It's very start-stop like I mentioned and if you don't take time to figure out the rules (yes I know there's a rules card lol) you may not like it much, but for me it's lots of fun. I'm not sure what my combined rating will come up to but I would give it an 8.5/10. It's also worth mentioning that it's probably the best horror game ever.

Oh, and there is most definitely a ONE MORE GAME feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waited to review this one until I got it in home and not on location. After hearing all the negativity surrounding this title, I must admit I was somewhat worried if I had made a mistake in purchasing this title. Boy am I glad that I waited to form my own opinion because I am loving this machine! It does indeed need more polished code, I have a feeling that Spooky will not rest until this one shines on code. Spooky knocked it out of the park with the artwork package on this one. I have owned multiple Spooky machines and this one is by far the smoothest shooting of them all. Do not see this one leaving the collection anytime soon and am excited to see where the code ends up.

It’s my favorite movie of all time and it’s my first machine, so I may be biased, but this game is awesome.
