Charming but difficult game to play that you have to make your shots with care. The two outlanes will snap your ball up in a millisecond over a careless shot! Playfield and backglass are very charming with the playfield having several outstanding shots with the tour gate being the best.

Get the gate open and pound the shot in to advance the cities! Easy way to get the gate open is to make a skill shot with the plunger and drop the ball through the upper roll over. Otherwise you have to pop 3 of the mushroom switches for gate opening. Pop the forth to open the ball save gate on the right outlane. The artwork, backglass and cabinet are all outstanding, Bally knew how to make some lookers! The bells sound great.

The machine is best in a larger collection, its difficulty will be off-putting for some players so best taken in small doses. When you do get a great game it is a notable feeling of accomplishment. Old operators would state if you were playing over 3 minutes they were losing money! This game is an great example of Bally giving the operators what they wanted as most of my games are under 4 minutes or less, even on 5 ball.

There used to be one of these games back in 1974/5 in an arcade in Southend on Sea.
The BG always charmed me, all those places seemed so exotic.
The game play is very cool, but the overriding shade of green makes the game a tad boring to look at.
I recently visited the hall of Fame in Vegas and played it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have decided to buy one.
Still think the girls on the PF and the BG are awesome. The game has added nostalgic value for me but not be everyone's cup of tea.

Grand Tour is a game I first played at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.

The Pros:
Nine shots all over the PF mean that you have to work those Eeeeety Beeety Fleeepers for all they are worth! A great BG with lots of detail and a solid PF wth Can-can girls is always a bonus. The carryover feature makes you keep your eyes on the places travelled across the globe. Opening the gate and getting that ball all the way up the right side of the PF is VERY satisfying. A real skill shot with real consequences to your game, love it!

The Cons:
Even with all of the shots to make, this PF comes up as, well... boring. Maybe I need to find another copy that plays with a bit more zip?

The Takeaway:
Maybe I need to spend more time on this deck to really let it shine, but so far... I'm not feelin' it.

Me: Thank you Tim Arnold!!!
Tim Arnold: Bah...

Much pin-love to Tim, his wife and all the PHOF volunteers!
