In our local bowling alley (1982) in Germany, this pinball stood out with it's speech and magnet chamber. But it was a mean drainer. The other 3 pinballs in the alley got alot more play. Back in 1982, it wasn't a good thing when your quarter lasted less than a minute or two. No love for the play on this pinball.

Not much to say, much like Gorgar. But Its the first talking pinball machine, so I'll give it some love.

A very cool machine for 1979 and if you raise the back of it up about 3 inches above the highest feet settings and the front all the way down i'm not sure what the pitch is but it is super fast and loads of fun.

I truly think that Gorgar was a milestone (benchmark) in modern pinball design. We take a lot of technology for granted in our pinballs of today and we tend to forget that it wasn't much more than 30 years ago that the only sound pinballs made came from clanking bells and knockers.
While Gorgar didn't usher in the advent of Pinball digital sound, it broke new gound with the incredible (for 1979) digitized speech. How many talking pinballs came right after? Gorgar opened the flood gate to a whole new experience in Pinball that we still experience, but sometimes don't appreciate, today.

Ah Gorgar! I remember challenging you during my teenage days...
A pinball machine that speaks, a miracle in those days, and a first for pinball. This was not one of my favourites then, I found it difficult and intimidating to play with the heartbeat thumping away, and my game times were often quite short! The magnetic snake pit fitted in well with the mythological theme. Not too much else going on otherwise, with no multiball or ramps around in the late seventies. It had plenty of targets and drop targets to hit though.
Cabinet art was simple but striking and stood out in the arcades well.
Not a machine that I would personally own, unless I had a lot more room than I do now, but I still enjoy having a game or two if I come across one at a show.

The speech was super cool back when it first came out. The heartbeat really gives sense of urgency. And you can't beat the artwork. Play is fast and real fun for an older game.

"Gorgar....Speaks..." I consider this Williams classic a true, underappreciated gem. The sounds! The pulsating heartbeat in the background that gets progressively faster the higher you get the bonus multiplier up! Gorgar's low-quality,somehow ominous sounding voice! And the ultra cool, trademark Williams sound effects as your ball goes careening wildly around the table! More than any other table, this machine brings back warm, fuzzy memories of the unbelievable amount of time I spent in arcades as a kid. So many quarters dropped into coin slots! Man, that was a precious time for me. Now I'm getting all misty just thinking about it... Anyway, getting one of these babies eventually will make my life just a little bit more complete. Yeah, I know I'm probably in the minority on my opinion of this machine, but that's the way I feel about it. Wow, I didn't think I was going to write this much! "Gorgar...beat...you..." Yes, you did my man...and I love you for it!

Long shots but good quality. If I found a good refurbished one under 750 I'd probably get it. Lots of memories and the pounding heartbeat really amps up the urgency.

Very simple design, but I can't help but get engrosed in the gameplay. There's something about the two banks of drop targets and really get my blood boiling. I've always wondered why Gorgar talks like an idiot caveman though, and not with a bassy deamon voice or something cool like that.

First pin I ever played, so it holds a special place in my heart. The speech was an absolute revelation! But in the end, the game itself is not all that special. A good/important addition to any large collection, but not fun enough if space is an issue.

This was one of the first talking pinball machines, and I still love it.
