Game looks nice but is really brutal. The right ramp is not very well executed. Many airballs. Game relies too much on skill shots...

Maybe build quality should be also part of the ratings. The spots below the inserts are very ugly.

Amazing Sound and Art package all around. I have defended Stern for years for making great pins whilst acknowledging that they were generally hideous. Not so with GhostBusters. I love the return to hand-drawn artwork. All the animations and sound calls are all topnotch. The lightshow is spectacular, and the gameplay is fast. Wish the ruleset was clearer from the get-go, seems a little muddy for no good reason, although many modern Stern's suffer from this ailment. Just missing the fun factor to me. It is an ass-kicker too.

Reminds me of Gottlieb's central park, ok the flippers may not be as far a part but it seems like it. Also ball kept jumping over the outlane guides.

As a home pin I would like it for how difficult it is to play.

Ghostbusters is a great game, don't let the others fool you...It can be hard, but with some of the easy high jackpots and bonus held modes, you can easily achieve a high score. It is one of the most fun pins in my collection. With the current code 1.05, it still needs some polishing with the rewards, jackpots, and bonuses.
Some shots are worth entirely too much while others too little. Great game!

It took about a week to get really tired of this one even though it is complex and fast and colorful. There just isn't enough there and it gets cheesy fast.

Didn't like this game much at all, confusing mess.

One of the best releases from Stern. And apparently one of the most brutal-draining games out there.

But the theme itself makes me want to play it even more! I've yet to say the famous line that starts the first Wizard Mode, but the time will come eventually.

The game is fun but I don't see the hype it is getting.

Probably the best Stern game made to date. The artwork and sound package are awesome. I've played every stern out there now and I think this one is the most fun. It's my favorite pro table but unfortunately since Stern releases several models, it won't get a higher rating from me since it's not the full game.

Play better? No, that doesn't fit GB. It is a game full of cheap drains. On some games, that can work. But here, it doesn't work well at all. The linear ruleset is horrible when combined with a brutal game. Even if it's less brutal, you play the same 3 modes over and over. Maybe you want to go deeper? Nah, play these first. The drop targets that bring the ball through the air, barf. This was a hard effort by Stern. They needed to do a lot more play testing and tweaking of the physical game.

Update, 2021: I'm actually annoyed that I rated this game so low, but I'm more annoyed that I still think it deserved that harsh a rating. I'm totally fine that some Pinsiders flagged this. GB just wasn't ready for primetime when they put it out. Stern just didn't test this game enough. And I still feel that way.

Finally got to play a bunch of games on this title. I like the artwork. The sounds were good. I was surprisingly not annoyed at the Theme song. Hitting Slimer is fun. Nice array of shots. The wide flipper gap will take some getting used to. The one thing didn't like was the ball would hit the inlane guide and bounce over it to drain on both sides if moving at a good speed. Did this to me on every other game I played. Is this normal or just this machine? Modes seemed relevant to the theme and the sounds and dots were good as far as I could tell.

I don't have tons of play on this machine...played it quite a bit at three different shows. This game is just plain fun and challenging. I love the right ramp on the pro and the difficulty overall of the machine. I am a fan of the much debated flipper gap and like the outlanes tough. I think this would make a excellent pin in the home environment.

I did not really like this machine, maybe because I am not really a Ghostbusters fan and the machine theme is really important for me. Anyway, the playfield with the hanging and lit Slimer ghost looks nice!

Exciting gameplay, nice artwork, fairly deep rules, good translation of the theme into the gameplay (although the humor of the movie doesn't really come through much in the game). Innovative use of Newton balls. Inserts do a good job of guiding the player; callouts are not as helpful. Some shots are ridiculously tight, which can be a plus or a minus depending on the challenge level one is looking for. A few drawbacks: bare metal in/outlane guides, upper rollover lanes (PKE) almost impossible to see, ugly red DMD.

Overall positive impression; I would consider buying for myself though family and friends would probably find the tough gameplay somewhat frustrating.

Good looking game, very nice art. GB music is just the best. Haven't try a Premium but I'm missing some ramp action on the Pro. Outlanes without rubber makes it next to impossible to nudge. To much of the gameplay send to ball up at the back of the playfield.

The side drains and the gap, I can deal with. The only thing that needs to change is the heavy metal guitar music on the terror dog. It does not fit in with any of the other musical themes. Othwise, this is a fun, great game. This will be a top 10 pin for a long time.

SUMMMARY
The artwork and sound integration here are something to behold. With 12 shots, and a VERY narrow top right shot, and wide flipper gap, this is not a game for novice players. I’m so glad that Stern started with an incredibly easy game like KISS, then moved to a tougher game like Ghostbusters. Stern is really impressing me with the moves they are making away from photoshopped art on every single BG/PF/Cab. John Trudeau really earns my respect designing something this good this later in his career. Innovative new toy, innovative use of ramps, with 2 entries, one exit (only ONE flipper-feeding ramp, which is a first for Stern in a lonnnggg time). Best use of inserts I’ve ever seen. They are clear, and so lights can change from orange to blue to green depending on the mode. Amazing. Only downsides: LED flashers were literally unbearable during multiball. I don’t get seizures, but I found them disturbingly offensive. Also, the white big insert middle of playfield stays bright most of the game. I’m going to GUESS that nobody over the age of 40 play-tested this game in a dark environment. Stern still has much to learn. I see where Stern LEARNED from their fiasco with TWD and the ball leaving the pops and going SDTM. They have an innovative oneway gate hanging over the PF in the right spot, to help line up shots to the flippers. It’s great! It shows they are learning and improving, impressed!

LAYOUT DETAILS:
Action/Per/Minute: decent
Backhands: good
Dink-Donk: good (none found)
Drops: unknown (I played a pro I presume)
Drops Sweep: unknown
Extra Balls: (not sure how many ways to earn it, but I earned a few)
Flippers: 2
Goals: unknown (didn’t read rules)
Inlane Lane Change: unknown
Inlane Ramp Release: ok, not very fast
Inlane Swoosh: ok, could be better
Inserts:
Jackpot/Bonus Collect: unknown
Lane Change: yes - good reflection on backglass let’s you see the 1-2-3 lanes up top.
MB Earning: decent. I earned a few but have no idea how I did it.
MB Fun: pretty good
Metal Ramps: none
Nudging: none needed. Not common with Sterns which have a very fast and narrow vertical game
Orbits (Repeatable): Yes, there’s one orbit. I think it’s repeatable.
Outlane Fun: unknown - don’t remember
Pops: boring: they completely hold up the game.
Rules (time/order): unknown
Shots (total): 12 - VERY high for a narrow-body single-level game
Skill Shot: yes, but unknown what it is
Slap-Saves: super important, really gotta become an expert to play this game
Spinners: 1 super spinner top left. Great design it rips well. Good sound.
Stop'n'Go: poor. Pros: the cellars grab and release quickly, but there are a few points where it holds the ball, and you watch like 15 seconds of dots, it’s really amazing, I would guess it’s the longest holdup of all time.
Taunting: none?
Toy/Gimmick: good. Slimer is quite cool.
Voice / V. choreography: unknown. I was in a bar, couldn’t hear all the coolness.

ART: A. Super art package
SOUND: B+ I hear good stuff.
DISPLAYS: C+ Red dots. Not sure red dots can ever score higher than a C+
LIGHTSHOW: A- Gotta dock a little bit for the LED flashers - totally obnoxious.
FEEL: Felt just fine, as all new Sterns do

OVERALL: A-... A little early to declare it, but this may very well be the best Stern of all time: Would have to play it back to back with LotR, Metallica, ST… I really like where Stern is going.

Stern you got a hit in my personal opinion. This game is extremely fast and colorful. It's a challenge every time you play it in which you want to keep playing . Great game

Just beautiful, whoever at Stern tapped up Zombie Yeti for the artwork on this deserves a raise.
The playfield layout is good with lots of shots but some are seriously difficult to make unfortunately leaving me feeling frustrated. I thought pinball was supposed to be fun!
More of an on site quarter muncher than an enjoyable home game.

The looks, sounds, lighting are top notch for sure, but I'm not the type of Pinsider that likes to sit around and look at me games; I play them and this one isn't a lot of fun.
It's a really tough game, and it forces you to take your time and think aboot every shot; many people are looking for exactly that when they buy a game and would love it, but that's not my bag.
Feel like this is a great multi player game, but playing by yourself isn't very fun and nothing aboot the game is very rewarding to me. The layout has some cool ideas, but also wasted opportunities. left scoop rejects a lot, the right hole is barely used other than the negative reinforcement video mode which is some of the most boring time I've spent playing any machine (shhh...it's worse than GOTs!).
So it lasted 2 months in my house which is really quick. Kind of neat, got some good things going for it, no need to own it. Fine for tourneys, but home use not needed.

like artwork on playfield, bright lights and colours. Like the Slimer bash toy. Cons is it drains a lot with the outlanes and wider flippers
