This is a pretty good pin. The playfield design is a little lacking but there are some good shots and a good rule set that helped the over all game play a lot.

No rhyme or reason whatsoever with this pin. Nothing fluid, very little to shoot at. Reward for launching the ball is multiball...woohoo!

Very much underrated. Fun artwork, good sound, and solid gameplay. LEDs are a must to brighten the stock lighting up a bit. Playfield design is somewhat simple and leaves a bit to be desired. Rules are ok.

I think this is a very underrated pin. It was a bit dark but after adding a few light mods it's great!

Fun game. Finally picked one up last month. Game is in amazing condition. It was actually never played. Got really lucky. The game is mint. Plays very fast. The rules are quite simple but pin is a lot of fun. Nice shots. Music is old school. Freddy call outs are cool. Overall in enjoy the game a lot!!

Great game. Some neat things like the glove flipper, claw save and freddy's head that spits the ball out. Its a fairly easy game to play. The artwork is great for the year it came out. The only thing they could have added is some ramps. Overall great game.

After passing it over in the past, I recently put in some quality time with this pin and was fairly impressed. The playfield has a flat look to it that is inoffensive if uninspired, and the game I played had some issues that may have arisen from age/maintenance or simply product quality. Also, the venue was quite loud, so I didn't pick up any of the sound. That being said, I played several games on this machine and really enjoyed the gameplay. Overall, it's a solid pin for the money if you are into the theme.

Very dark lighting, fits with theme. Artwork nails it. Game play is good if everything works. Ground mod is mandatory on System 3 games IMHO. Freddy head puking balls is cool. Flipper glove blades must not be plastic! Mine are aluminum and work awesome. Dot matrix animation is not the best but it works. The #1 letdown on this is the VUK, should have been a ramp, would have been much more flow. Linear rules could get old. Set difficulty to hard for a real treat if you're a good player, otherwise it's too easy. Good luck finding one that works 100% and reasonably priced. 'I'll break your fingers next time!' makes me grin every time.

Underrated pin. Call outs and lighting are spot on.

This is a decent title from Gottlieb. The sound is repetitive and it is a bummer their are no ramps. I love the them it just seems they were in a rush to get this title to market. The play field is nice but it lacks in so many other departments. The fragile Freddy claw is also a pain in the ass.

Freddy: A Nightmare on Elm Street sure is a nightmare. The SDTMs abound, the super fast ball lock (skill shot-ish) robs the game of continuous fun when the house on the upper PF eats the incoming shot, and the Freddy face toy is neat but fairly useless.

Don't put any money in this machine - no matter how much you like the NoES franchise (well, maybe one credit, just to see how awful a great license can be in a pin).

Freddy. hmmmm. well, first the positives - the machine looks excellent, it's colourful and scary and fits the theme of a horror film character, and the big Freddy head on the playfield is a thing of dark beauty. i can imagine it would terrify small children.

there are a few little toys - Freddy spits the ball out of his mouth, he has a claw-flipper half way up the playfield that you can control (though the fingers always snap, as they only made the bottom one out of metal), and it has a neat rake thing between the flippers that can be used as a ball save if used properly.

the negatives - for some reason it gives a multiball right off the bat, there are no ramps, and the modes all suck arse. the music and call outs are entertaining the first time you hear them but very quickly become old. those snapped fingers. the fact it's a Gottlieb DMD game with the quirks that go along with that - things like funny easily-broken piezo switches, DMD animation junk, error messages that make no sense, almost impossible to get into free play mode because of that stupid 'tournament mode' option, if anything goes wrong with the coin door switches.

meh. it was ok but i don't miss Freddy. to use his acronym, F NOES why i bought it in the first place. ok i was just trying to get that into my review. not that bad, but gets boring fast. an ok starter table but really the bottom of the DMD pile. almost as bad as X Piles.

Freddy is an entertaining pin that really plays fun, lots of multi-ball action to be had with this one. If you buy one and it does not have the rubber faces target cover, i would suggest getting one, it really helps the bounciness on the red targets. Without the rubber target cover the game is a bit clunky on those specific shots. Pretty easy to get through the nightmares but fun to loop through and see how many you can go. Also the claw save feature is pretty cool, but occasionally need to bend the claws straight a bit, they tend to bend a little. Try one out if you see one, cool pin!

Being a real horror fan love the looks of this pin, challenging game but fun to play, more of a nostalgia pin than a players pin

Underrated, what a great game. Like the scary theme. Lots of multi balls. Freddys jaw moves he talks and spits out balls. Children screaming help me. Extra flippers.

I do not like anything. It is a bad theme for a pinball

There aren't that many horror pins. This is definitely one of the scariest out there. It just could have been so much better. Gottlieb (I actually think this was a Premier game) was just putting out garbage at the time.

The good:
-the red playfield (especially with LEDs) is pretty sweet.
-nice theme
-pretty cool gimmicks (drop targets are rubber "faces," and you get "Rudy" who is Freddy)
-animations are pretty good for the time and price

The bad is pretty much that it's just not a great game. It's boring, repetitive, and feels cheap. Pass.

UPDATE: played another copy of this deck and...yep, still sucks IMO. Blah.

Solid game. This pin has a great feel to it. Great toys and I love the voices from Freddy. Wish it had some ramp shots but great job on the theme. Underrated pin in my opinion. Very dark, creepy feel. A must have for a horror fan.

I think this is an underrated pin, more because it's a gottlieb. If you like 80's horror, you'll have a good time with this pin. The ruleset is a little shallow but the flow is nice. You could do better, but you could do much worse.

Not a very deep ruleset. Great backglass and Maybe the best animations for a gottlieb system 3. Playfield art was a bit sparse.

I really wanted to love this one because of the theme, but it ain't all that great. Theme is awesome and well done but game isn't that much fun, not too much to do on this one. I think the playfield is a bit too open...but Freddy is still pretty damn cool! Will always drop a quarter into this one.
