A classic, challenging, but with a fairly shallow ruleset. The difficulty and multiball keep me coming back to it!

I think the art is the weakest part of this pin.
It plays GREAT.
Always in the mood to play one more game.

when i think of pure classic pinball this is what comes to my mind. love the game play super addictive. simple but difficult. keeps you coming back over and over. sound is fantastic have mine hooked to a subwoofer and it rattles the whole room. Will make you a better player because shot placement is critical and hard. games come and go in my collection but this one stays

This fast playing pin forces you to aim. If you just try to noob it , its going to be a short game. Multi ball can be a challenge compared to some newer machines but its satisfying each time you lock a ball and get another in the shooter.

Classic Williams game that easily deserves the high ranking it gets. Tons of fun with great sounds. Fast gameplay for the era and lots of great risk/reward shots. The sounds are really the most impressive thing about this game. With a high quality speaker, this game just sounds fantastic and can send chills down your spine from time to time. I could see how this machine was such a hit when it came out, being the first SS machine with Multi-ball amongst the many other things to love about it.

Playing with friends on this machine is always fun, but the lack of lock stealing takes away that bit of risk there is involved with not absolutely making it all the way to the multi-ball start without losing the chance to someone else. Other wise, fun game to play with others.

Overall this is a fun game and it's easy to see why so many produces, between the sounds, fast gameplay and multi-ball its deserving of the title "classic."

Firepower is a great early state pinball machine. Its one of my all time favorite. I haven't owned a lot of early solid state games but I rank it above Cleopatra and Buck Rogers but below Aliens and Paragon. Its tough to get multiball but when you do its rewarding although it doesn't last long. The artwork is great but the sounds can become someone annoying after a while. Either way its a really fun game that I would buy again. The First multiball and lane change game ever. Don't hesitate to buy this one.

Ah, yes, one of the great early 'Thrashers' by Steve Ritchie. If you've heard somebody call this game slow, ask them to stop being lazy. Tell them to clean their playfield, fix the main 6 standups, plus service their flippers. When this game is maintained properly it's frenetic and fast, though a bit choppy. But don't take that as a critique, take that as a complement. It works here.

Not the deepest rules-set of the era, it's all about completing a small selection of target banks. But when running at speed, with the associated short ball times, the rules depth feels about right for the game. Multi-ball feels like a real achievement when you get it, it's not spoon-fed to you like some games. Being the first SS multi-ball, they also made a show of it when the balls are kicked your way. Everybody in the lineup will know you've got 3 on the way.

Artwork, well, it's sharp but confusing. The big 'death star' floating out there looks like it belongs but could have probably been done a bit less 'chaotic'. The rest of the playfield looks fantastic. Particularly when in a good condition game with new bulbs. A bit cheesy at times, with subtle nods to Star Wars, but pulled off much better than Stellar Wars was.

Sound is probably one of the best of this generation sound board set from Williams. It fits the theme nicely, never feels overdone, and blends well into the gameplay too. Speech may have that early tinny sound, but again, it fits well with the overall package, perfectly matched in feel to the rest of the title.

In fact, that's one area Firepower does shine once you learn to appreciate it ... it's a whole package game. Gameplay, sounds, playfield art, cabinet art, backglass art, they all mesh well together and look like it was a team effort in design. It doesn't have the disjointed feel of some earlier games where art and play were separately designed.

The only machine I've owned twice! Firepower is fun and challenging, and great for it's era. Once you've played modern pinballs, it might start to collect dust, but it will still retain some charm and playability.

Considering it’s a landmark game with the introduction to lane change, I give it a lot of credit. This game has grown on me over time. It takes patience to learn the ball control to survive in this game. Lots of failed shots or loose flying balls off the targets can become quick drains down the middle. It’s one of the oldest machines that can hold my attention. A ramp shot would be nice, but it is what it is.

Great classic Williams game with the first sold-state multiball. There were a boatload of these made, so finding one is easy and the price is still relatively affordable. Gameplay is simple: Hit the center targets to light locks, get multiball, shoot for ?, repeat. I installed the bootleg roms using the original 6 digit displays (http://www.pinball4you.ch/okaegi/pro_soft.html). This adds a skill shot and some objectives to shoot for within multiball. If you choose to do this, Don’t forget the jumper mods, or it won’t work (http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Williams_System_3_-_7#Modifying_a_System_6_or_6A_to_Use_The_Firepower_2732_Combo_ROM_at_IC14). Also, if you’re feeling even more ambitious, there are instructions to convert to 7-digit and add even more objectives!

Picked up a FP for a good price but more importantly I then had it restored. I was lucky as the p/f (most originals are trashed) is nearly perfect. I added a new PP backglass and now it looks great.

Playing this pin is a total “hair on fire” experience. We added the new FP Roms (a must!) and it makes a good game, a great one. Yes it will frustrate you at times. But isn’t that why we play pinball? The challenge to win an extra ball (specials are useless for HUO play) and achieve multi ball is very satisfying if accomplished. Great sounds and lights add to the madness. If you can keep a ball in play long enough I guarantee your BP goes up as well. A classic that stands the test of time.

I have to rate this game for it's time which it was clearly ahead of with multi-ball and a lane change feature. It was one of my first pinball purchases and it 'hooked' me. I had to have more.

A classic in my books. Super fast, bordering on harassing, but not to the point that it seems abusive. Great sound, matched with a cool theme.

Great game, love the speech in this game. Really fun to earn multiball. Love it when you destroy a ship... "ship destroyed". Keep coming back and playing this one over and over again.
