Super fun and simple game. I always enjoy playing this one. My second favorite system 11.

I think the game sucks. I play it in a league and I just don't know why people like this game. It's one of those games that I don't enjoy. There are lots of games that I don't like, but at least cN still enjoy playing...this is not one of them.

This game is a deceptively gorgeous looker. At first glance it seems almost too plain with a limited color palette, but what's there is executed well. THEN you notice the flame effects in the lighting which are reasonably convincing still even today, let alone 1987! And the smoke colored plastics are amazing: it really does look like the playfield is on fire!

Unfortunately after playing this, I almost wanted to make it actually be on fire. It's not a terrible game and everything worked fine. It's just limited and very repetetive, not in a good way. The central part of the upper pf is way too constrained... it's a shooter's game that demands accuracy, but if you lack it you will simply miff the shot, got slung around near the ramps, have to catch the ball, repeat. The object is to lock balls up the outer ramps to qualify for the center one to start multiball, but beyond that there's not much to shoot for. The targets in the central part are at random mercy of the upper slings. The up-post in the drain is tiny and can almost cause you more drains than it saves. I concede I might not be as good a player as others, but very rarely have I ever felt so distastefully annoyed with a pinball game.

It's pretty, and the sounds are even decent (the bell is kind of cool) and for tying the theme together it does a decent job. I tend to like Barry Oursler's designs. But this one just didn't do it for me.

Underrated game. For me personally, this -and now I must quote Chris Bucci on this- pulls the old heart strings. This is a machine you would find on vacation on a camping site in a very wrong cantina where you could get so freaking drunk. This is a machine which will be screaming for attention. I love the bell, i love the fast balls, i love the simple ruleset, i love the artwork.

I'm getting old i guess.

I love Fire! It's a great theme with top notch artwork. Trapping firemen and breaking the window is always a blast. Not a good pin for non pinheads. It's a tough game for most who can't learn to trust the fire hydrant plug.

my brother owns this game and im not very good at it. i really like the bell on top that rings with the multiplier at the end of each ball. i just feel like something is missing from the playfield. it just seems a little empty to me and like there is not so much to do. i dont like when the ball shoots up the ramp so fast it hits the glass. the game is still fun and i enjoy playing it.

A beautiful game that is very fun to play. The playfield is perfectly symmetrical, which may annoy some but I really don't mind it. Overall the layout is interesting and is very fun to shoot. The rule design is pretty simple. To summarize, shoot a bunch of stuff until the locks light, then start multiball and then shoot a bunch of stuff until you get the million point shot. It's tough but not too tough, and leaves me wanting to play again. Also the music is great and the bell on top is a great effect.

Fire is a fun game. Sound is horrible, maybe just the one I have and the ones I've played? The buildings, artwork and detail to the playfield is one of my favorites. Game is pretty fast. The flames in the middle of the playfield are really cool.

IMO this one is overrated by most. I found gameplay to be mediocre.

What a great theme. They built pinball in Chicago, so what better theme than the Great Chicago Fire? Perfectly symmetrical playfield makes for a pretty simple game. No pop bumpers is disappointing, but so much is done with space. The orbit shot flies, and the same shot lock balls with a lowering ramp. A neat feature that I'm surprised wasn't used more often. The playfield is like a mini diorama of old Chicago under glass. Mark Sprenger's art is fantastic, one of the best packages that Williams ever put out. Rules are simple, standard Sys11 fare...may not have legs in a small collection, but can hold its own in a larger one. Not a fan of Oursler games, but this one is underappreciated.

This is somewhat of an underated game.It has a very unique playfield layout. It has some nice ramp shots and the ladder ramp moving up and down on a timer is pretty cool. The fire moving in the center is cool too. Then add 3 multi-ball along with the way this thing pops with LEDS and it keeps me playing!

Very nice game from Williams. The gameplay is interresting and not so bad. I'm impress to house flame animation on the playfield. I'ts very impressionat me. Unique machine with that feature. The cabinet is good but the backglass so cheap. Just a picture on plastic behind the glass. I'ts not a translite!!! The gameplay are very fun and respect the theme. Very nice pin for the years!!!

this is a neat game. I remember playing it as a kid, so maybe thats why Im more attached to it, but everytime I see this game on site, I have to put a few quarters up. the old fashioned fire bell and siren sounds are neat, but the coloing on this thing is alot of brown and red, so its easy to lose visual interest. Trying to launch balls up the ladder in multiball is fun too. good game, but im not sure if Id be inclined enough to buy it for home use.

This game is all about the art and music. I got in a few games and found it to have possibly the worst flow I have ever experienced. I was so disappointed. I very much wanted to love this pin. I have never seen so much "nothing" happen when playing pinball before. It was like 3 long minutes of no shots being made at all.

Put up the GC on this game at GPSF -- 5mill plus... not as bad as I had once thought. This one must have been set up better. Still not a fan of the one-way ramp shots. The orbit is nice. The middle fire shot is nice. The horseshoe is nice... no drops! no spinner! C'mon man...

Played this for the first time at a convention, and was blown away. I was not really attracted to it by its theme, and almost passed it up. I'm glad I didn't. Great playing game. Artwork is wonderful, and even though it contains a lot of the same colors, it's easy to see where everything is. Some really cool shots, and the sound and lighting are great. Definitely a fun and awesome game, and one I will hopefully own someday.

This is the nicest art work that a pin has in its era. The loops are good too, it make the game's pace fast. The 3 rising ramps are fun to hit. The plunger shot is tough. The real brass bell topper sounds cool. I also like the cheesy fire lighting on the playfield during multiball, it reminds me of my parents fake fire in the chimney, i should have kept that...lol. Also, the pin says my name! How can I sell a really nice looking pin that says my name?

Fire is a game that I played a bit in college. I remember it fondly. Playing it recently, I got bored.

The Pros:
Fantastic art and theme package. The sirens bell ringing is perfect for this game's theme. The ball can flow quite nicely, multiball is hectic and the Oursler tm outlanes make sure your attention is on the task at hand. Shooting the ball up the ladder for the JP is rad! The city looks like it is on fire with the BG animation. Ringin' that bell is always entertaining. The skill shot requires... skill!

The Cons:
Simple rules make for a lackluster experience. Flippers MUST me in prime working order to make all shots otherwise this game is a dud. I like the ramp... when it works.

The Takeaway:
A great table for a casual player or someone who really likes firemen. Will bore a player quickly. Mooooo!

Wonderful pinball. lights ,sound, action and art entertaining. could be a very frustrating game for some because you have to be quick at anticipating the next shot , keeping you eye on the ball and what the game is requiring you to do. this is not just random shooting it ,means learning your flipper action which are very accurate i might add. ball can drain very quickly if you get to excited but keeps you wanting more. the more you play the more you love it. love the art work and the playfield detail.could use a few leds in certain sections of the game to give more intense light where needed. this game is a definite collectors piece for those who love history, which if you look up is quite interesting. thanks for reading.

Finally at a point where I can share my thoughts about Fire. I've owned an HUO version of this now for 2 months and play it often. Of the 8 pins I have this one is most certainly the most challenging to score well on. It's also the most beautiful and BY FAR the fastest machine I own. I can see why plastics could easily get broken on this pin - the ball moves so fast that you quickly lose track of it as it runs the horseshoe ramp! It's an addictive game as it does not give up shots easily so scoring high and often simply doesn't happen. Skill shot on plunger is great and with practice and a clean plunger spring, new tip, you can get 100,000 points at least 2/3rds of the time. Center "ladder" shot is much harder than it looks but it can be done and is hugely satisfying when you hit it. The steep ramps with target stops at the top are very narrow and I still can not aim to hit them with any degree of regularity, this is good and keeps the game challenging. The outlanes are merciless and drains both left and right are common. This is a pin where it pays big time to stay out of the slings and control the ball, hit your shots. Love the fire bell and I have it set to minimum rings - just enough IMO. I ordered the repro plastic set JIC I ever need it as there are not many new sets left from the last production run. The speech portion of the sounds is terrible, very hard to understand what they are saying BUT the music is super and seems appropriate to the theme and time period. Overall play field lighting is a little on the dim side BUT the "light show" (inserts, flashers) is exquisite in that it really gives that feeling that the designers (Oursler, Sprenger) built the city of Chicago "under glass". A great, beautiful & very challenging pin that will stay in my collection permanently. Love it!
