Noteworthy features

  • The "Earthshaker Institute", with nine lights showing all the zones you have visited.
  • Splitting California/Nevada ramp diverter.
  • The "Earthshaker Institute", the building in the back with the lit numbers 1-9 on it, was originally designed to move above and below the playfield. Due to the cost-reduction process, this motor assembly was left out and only the first 200 machines were produced with a "sinking building".

Trivia

  • Earthshaker is the first game to use a "shaker motor". Williams unfortunately never got down to registering a patent for the motor. The result was the widespread use of shaker motors in various pinball machines for then-rival Data East.
  • Earthshaker is the first game with a "family" game ROM. This was done so that a word deemed offensive in the 1980's - "Bitchin'!", could be removed.
  • About the first hundred games had a moving number square. It cost too much so they removed it from all other games.
