I think this is the single-player version of the four-player Dipsy Doodle. We avoided this game, believing it to be just for little kids. Then hated the untrappable flipper feature. Then figured out how to get the doodler cooking for big points. Soon had the new high score - by a factor of 20. I guess it IS for kids - us kids.

I brought this game with me to college and it's probably gotten about 200 plays in the first week because of how popular it is.

There's something really fun about this game. A favorite EM.

Super fun game to play. Artwork is simple, but I like it. Gameplay is awesome and keeps me coming back over and over. Nothing like getting the Doodle Bug value built up and getting the Doodle Bug to run! Not an easy thing to keep it running.

For its age, this game is complex. Art is lacking though.

Some of the other reviews mention the big thing that this machine does right: FUN. It isn't a cookie cutter by any means. It is very unique, with the gaps next to the flippers, the return lane, and the Doodle Bug. Random may not describe it but it is "fly by the seat of your pants."

This is a fun game. What keeps you coming back is the thought that you can get that 10k Doodle Bug going. I played this on location back in the day and own it now. I have only got the 10k rocking about 3-4 times, but when it goes....

Doodle Bug gets a bad rap like many early 70's pins from williams. This reputation is unwarranted in this case.

The Pros:
No inlanes or outlanes. This game is all about ball control with the minimal opportunity you are provided with on the flipper layout. Many people will call this game random, but that is not the truth of the matter. The truth is most people can't control a pinball if they do not have something to rest it on. You can do this, but you have to hit the up post targets first. Good action in the 5 pops at the top of the PF. People still seem to bag Christian Marchee's artwork, but nothing else says "Pinball!" as immidately and as easily recognized as his work. Respect is due to the pointy people.

The Cons:
I have seen a few of these tables with posts drilled into them on the outside of the flippers. Lazy pinheads...

The Takeaway:
If you really want to learn your flipper skills on an EM Williams game, give this table a shot. Doodle that bug and get your score up there.
