It is a beautiful pin, well designed, fast play, and good rule set...but i find the theme to be lacking, which really takes away from it IMO.
It is worth playing, but I would not want to own one.

I wanted to like this better. Game just does not do it for me. I know there is lots to do but it feels dull. No energy to it. Shots are good and art is nice. I am jusy not a fan of the theme. Sounds and music are a little boring.

I have played this game at multiple locations for hours. The first time I played it, I really didn't like it. The theme didn't do much for me. Then I gave it another chance, and then another, and it really sucked me into its world.

Its main virtue is that it is incredibly fun to play. The theme still isn't my absolute favorite, but I find myself not caring because I always have a blast playing it. Great rules, great variety, great toys. An all around very fun pin that I intend to buy one of these days.

This has to be Lawlor's best game to date. The layout is nearly perfect. I find the left loop shot a little bit clunky, but the shot itself is gaping wide, so that sort of makes up for it. The rules accompany the layout perfectly. Though it is a mode driven game, the modes are meaningful and in order to score well, you need to actually complete modes and collect Sim cards. This is in stark contrast to classics like TZ and TAF where you can qualify and start modes, but there are points elsewhere, so you can essentially time them out and still get to the final wizard without too much effort. Dialed In takes that rule progression, but makes it so that the better you do in a mode (ie complete the mode), the higher each subsequent mode will be worth, in the form of Sim cards acting as score multiplier for modes.

The shots are buttery smooth. The whirlwind combo is awesome! The Theater is very innovative, as well as the camera built into the backbox. Never before done in a game, and a JJP trademark. There's also the Bluetooth feature, but it feels more like a "this is what we can do" type of feature, as opposed to fully integrating it into the game. I would like to see some more features added into the bluetooth capability of the game.

The light show is second only to TNA, and the sounds, music, and callouts match the "news cast" theme perfectly. This game has to be one of the best pinball games produced to date.

Terrible theme, but an awesome game with a really satisfying layout and good rules/lighting. They should just retheme this one and make it a 10/10.

Fun game to play. Awesome flow and layout. I'm not too crazy about the theme and artwork. JJP has set the standard in modern day pins. Great game to add to tour collection.

I absolutely love this game. Pat Lawlor is a pure genius. So many great and rewarding shots, just a ton of fun in this game. Rules are good, but I see them getting even better in the future. Love the quality of JJP games, can’t compare to Stern, they are on a completely different level. This game is a keeper for me! Can’t recommend it enough.

Pat Lawlor has made some great games and this nears perfection if it had a theme that related to me more. I give credit to the original theme and the characters that they created, maybe it will become a classic like Medieval Madness or Attack from Mars. It has incredible flow and shots. The SIM card shot is as difficult and challenging as I’d like, the modes and use of the magnets is top notch. The hidden chutes and subway keep keep new players curious of what is happening. Some of the gimmicks like The Bluetooth integration don’t bother me but I question who actually is using them. A+ title

Wow, I played this Game the whole Night at the local pinball supplier. I am completely in love. The Pin is on my wishlist.

Fun game that I've only gotten to play a few times. I get the idea this has a really deep rule set. I am not a huge fan of the theme but it is fun to play. I get the idea this machine is going to be a pain to maintain in a decade or two. Compare the complexity of this against a twilight zone. All in all it is fun, and I think if I had unlimited access to one and could learn the rule set it would be even better.

Wow. This game kind of feels like a sleeper, which is most likely due to the initial impressions of the theme. Admittedly, I also had the same reservations but liked the layout and general progression that I observed playing briefly on location. When a Standard model came up for sale in my area at a fair price, I decided to try it out and was not disappointed.

First of all, the game itself is absolutely loaded with toys, features, and gimmicks, even on the Standard model. Lawlor's layout is fantastic. He was able to fit in so much stuff and still provide great flow and buttery smooth shots. The layout allows for so many variations that can be used in the modes, that each of the 11 modes feels unique and not overly repeated. The lighting effects and shaker motor also add to this. I generally do not gravitate towards mode based games, but this one has me hooked. The modes are fun and varied.

The art is overall pretty great. I like the translite artwork the most, but the style and composition of everything work well together. It's kind of like a sci-fi movie pop art from the 50's/60's but with a futuristic twist. I can't think of anything I'd really change other than maybe some additional lighting behind the translite. The main character guy's outfit is kind of dad-ish, but it's not really super prominent. It's a goofy game anyway.

As for the theme, it actually grows on you quite a bit and works well for the features of the game. There's several cameos from previous great 90's DMD games in there that are interesting to see. It definitely doesn't take itself seriously and is generally light hearted during most of the game play. It's been beat to death, but it's definitely more of a goofy city disaster theme than a cell phone theme. The cell phone, of course, comes into play for starting modes and dealing with Bob's side modes, but nearly all of the gameplay is directed towards Quantum City events or disaster events. New players really like the cell phone components to the game.

At v1.52, the code is outstanding. Apparently JJP is planning on additional updates to finish the character animations on the smart phone display and add a theater multiball, among other things. It feels complete. In general, I've told new players to shoot the QED guy to charge the phone and then shoot the phone to start a mode. That's enough to get through most of the game, but there's so much more to achieve. I appreciate the way that JJP made the game simple to jump in but also very deep and strategic. Once you understand how things work, there's several ways to progress. I'm thrilled how great the code is on this game. If I had to pick something to complain about, it'd have to be the simplicity in achieving the first multiball. Pretty minor, but it's tough to avoid when you're chasing modes.

Overall, this game truly does feel like an incredible 90's Bally/Williams DMD game with a very refined layout and features appropriate to our time. I'm kind of surprised this title hasn't gained more traction in the community. If you're on the fence due to the theme like I was, I would recommend seriously looking at this one. Time will tell, but I think this is one of the best, if not the best, game of our time.

My favorite part: Layout and mode variety

The good: Outstanding layout and code, so many things to do, absolutely packed with features, doesn't take itself too seriously

The bad: Theme has a bad first impression for some, some callouts are underwhelming

If you could look past the theme's first impressions, you'll find one of the greatest games ever created.

A very fun Lawlor design. The light show is second to none. The Sim City like world feels great but the sound design and some features like the selfie cam gets old quickly. I like how it plays though and usually come back after pausing for something else.

To me, this is the ultimate Pin, especially considering how turned off I am with the theme.... but other than that it has everything. Lots of great shots, and great flow and an all around fun game to play. I only played a couple of games on it, and the only negative comment (besides theme) which is a little nit-picky is that it seemed to allow for very long ball times... though I might have been having just one of those games, since I did end up with a high score and I am an uber amateur.

I'm one of the tiny 'rogue' faction who just can't get into DI. I pre-ordered mine last year and took delivery in Feb this year. First off I really enjoyed Pat Lawlor's essential design and playfield work, there's no doubting it. However, I really quickly started to hate the sounds, dorky callouts, and struggled to deal with theme itself. There were times when I wanted to pound the glass with my fist, the callouts got on my nerves so bad. On sold the machine in May.

I recently had the opportunity to play Dialed In on location. I always passed it by at TPF, usually because I did not want to stand in line for a pin that I had no budget for and was not planning on buying.

My first game let me play for a little bit and did not drain the ball as soon as it left the shooter lane. So, I put in more coin for another round and had a better game. So, I put in more coin and had another enjoyable game. Then I went over to TNA and played a couple of games. And then back to DI one more time.

I like it. If I ever win the lottery I would consider owning one.

It is a fair game for a rookie. I like the back glass. Sine it was on location the sounds was turned down and it was sandwiched between the other pin I cannot make opinions on the other aspects of the game.

It is a nice pin to play.

I used to own this machine for two years.

The Good:
-- Lighting is one of the best I've seen. It really pulls you in.
-- The modes are very fun and challenging. The modes are the best part of this pin for sure.
-- Shots are satisfying as all get out. Both ramps are some of the best ramps in any game I've ever played.
-- The layout is one of the best layouts ever, imo.
-- SOLID BUILD. This isn't in the rating anywhere, but it's a solid machine that could withstand an earthquake.
-- Big bang! Great idea.
-- I love the collecting of sim cards. Also a brilliant idea.

The Bad:
-- Multiballs, while fun, are basically worthless because the points are too low. If this gets fixed in an update, I'd bump the rules rating up from a 4 to a 6. It's just depressing when you get a multiball and you're sad about it. You're also forced to start a multiball after you drain sometimes, which is a bummer because I use multiballs to combo with modes.
-- I like the theme, but the artwork could be improved. The lead character is a guy with 80s looking clothes & style. Come on.
-- The music is somewhat too repetitive. While it is catchy, I find it too light and airy. It doesn't draw me in like it does on other games.
-- The callouts are under-whelming and sometimes incorrect. Shoot the right ramp you say? But the big points are in the theater!...
-- The point structure is terrible. You get a jackpot and it's basically the size of a few pop bumper hits. Terrible.

==============================================================

I love Lawler games because of the layout, and I loved this game because of the modes, big bang, sim cars, and overall strategy. I hated the music over time, the sounds over time, and the seemingly worthless multiballs that it forced me to play. Multiball should be the best part of any game, not the worst. So deflating. I used to love this game, but I ended up hating this game over time, and now I can't even bring myself to hit the start button.

It's a shame, really. It has so much promise. If anyone ever developes a code update to make it a little more darker & sinister, and with better music (all sound related) and the scoring improves on multiball jackpots, I'd be all over it again.
