One of the all time greats and defined an entire era of pinball. The amount of innovation in this game is amazing given when it was made. A game I want back in my collection someday.

The first two level pinball! Magnets were an awesome idea as well. This was the innovation breakout for pinball from a single level playfield. We wouldn't have the cool ramps and so forth today of it were not for Black Knight!

Great game for your money and is a part of pinball history.

A great classic. My second favorite pin in my collection next to AFM and the rest of my family likes this pin the most in our collection. Obviously, this machine does not have the bells a whistles of the newer pins but that does not take anything away from it at all. It is highly addicting and challenging. Two level playfield with four flippers provides a lot of user interaction. Some very thrilling shots and with the Black Knights antagonistic laughs it is easy to get caught up in a battle of you vs. the machine. With some LED's installed, this machine is beautiful. Not many better back glasses out there and for the price it takes to own a good one, there is not a better value as I have owned this machine for over 6 months and it still gets played the most out of all of my pins. Like a classic car, this is a machine that would be very hard to part with.

Overall, a little disappointed with this game. The use of an upper mini playfield (the first machine to have it) is not enough to carry it. It seems more like a gimick or afterthought rather than tieing in with the theme especially since it doesnt add more room to the playfield--its just built on the playfied. The audio although being pretty cool, is a little repetitive and the speech is a hard to understand unless you know what its saying. The game audio also sounds more like a laser space battle than a jousting match. The ball magnet is great--especially for that era! I basically give it a "Decent" rating. For 1980 though, this game was pretty cutting edge.

Not really my cup of tea, but I can definitely understand how it rates highly, especially considering the year it was made. The upper playfield is tight and plays fast, but once you get the hang of how to play that part of the playfield you can rack up big points.

First time I played this machine it was with a brand-new PF, making for a hell of a fast game. Love the cheesy things the Black Knight says, my friends and I get very competitive on this machine, especially with the bonus mode for the top scorer on 2p or more games for a reward. Wish it had an auto-fire capability for that extra mode at the end however, as I have difficulty keeping the balls on the upper-playfield whilst plunging balls. I always find myself coming back again and again to challenge the Black Knight.

Had this game in the collection, been waiting to rate until it was "100%", Flippers are an issue on this game...but can be fixed! What can I say that hasn't been said, side by side to other class of 1980 machines, you see why we are where we are now with pinball design and game flow/rules etc. When this came out I remember being frustrated by the timed drop targets and timed ramp shots etc., now this is expected game elements. I love the game, it's historic, it's different than other games of the same era, and its a challenge to play. What more can you ask?

I thought the game played well and offered a decent variety of shots. The speech I thought was not so clear, had a hard time making out what was being said.

Seems to be popular at the moment but I did not really enjoy it.

One of the pins I used to play as a kid in Strads Cafe in Rotherham, so has a special attachment to me... Much better than the BK2K that followed... gameplay is a little repetative though.

Backglass is one of the best of all time. Love the long left ramp shot up the upper playfield. Magnasave is a nice gimmick. Playfield art is exceptional. Game gets rather dull as it's all about hitting the multi-ball and nothing else.

I still think this is one of Steve's best. I want one for my lake house just had no luck finding one I like. This is a classic for the true pinball nut.

I had a chance to pick one of these up cheap and I blew the oppertunity. RATS. I guess if you have room for only one game then this is good and could be a great value but it's not the top choice. However if you can fit more than one it's a fun game that plays well long time and the value could be outstanding.

A true classic ahead of its time. It's a older pin but the game play is fast and its fun to play again and again. Very cool pinball machine.

I rated the sound "Excellent" based on how irritating it is (counter to what you normally would). Williams designed the Knights antagonisms to get under your skin and annoy you like a mocking rivalry. This is one game a hated to love to play (loved to hate to play). It drove me nuts and frustrated me, but I kept coming back becaues of that stupid laugh that the Knight has when you miss a maga-save (aaarrrrtgha#$@#%). I hated that. I guess that's why it's one of my prize pins in my collection ;)

A bit simple compared to the more modern uber-ramp designs, but still a great playing machine. A very fast and brutal play style, particularly with multiball. Magna-Save is still a very cool feature, as is the bonus-ball in a multiplayer game.

The playfield and backglass artwork are among the best of any machine, from any era.

The only place that really feels dated is the sound, and the only thing I wish it had has a "knocker" for when you get a free game.... I just don't like the bell.

This was a very popular pin when it first came out. I remember playing this a lot as a kid at the beach. The voice was a little intimidating to an 8 year old. lol. This machine has great flow for what amounts to two small playfields. And I love how easy it is to get multiball. One of the best, if not the best, early SS pins.

The gameplay is simple enough: get multiball and score points. The unusually large upper playfield makes this one a fun to play machine and some of the turns and shoots really keep you on your toes.

I got the chance to play one that was in like new condition. It is an interesting game for sure. The machine did not pull me in as I had hoped. The design is good but the sound, music, and limited shots made this one pull up short for me.

This game has two levels and is very fun to play. The voice of the black night makes this game.

The Black Knight is one of the best (if not the best) yearly 80's pinball. Classic Williams at its finest.

Funny game very nice for the year but don't have to be on top 100
