Kept one for quite a while and enjoyed it a lot. The playfield is really interesting with the slanted top rollovers, the multitude of mushroom bumpers, zipper flippers and that extra 'Super Bonus'. Very unique play from what I'm used to.

I've been playing this every day since I got it home and working....which was a couple of weeks ago. Fun! At first I thought it was slow, but after a few games I got the hang of getting the ball to fly...all the way to the top of the play field, which is no problem. I've waxed the pf and installed new rubbers. The ball zings off the slingshots, around, through, and hitting the mushroom bumpers and back to the slingshots...you can keep it flying around. The U mushroom closes the flippers, the L opens them. So the ball flies around opening and closing the flippers and once in a while the ball lands on the closed flippers where you get a skill shot from them (closed flippers). No need to get the ball all the way up to the top rollovers because the mushroom bumpers on the pf trip the same letters L-U-C-K that the rollovers do. Lots of action with this. Not much in the way of sounds. Has 2 bells which were sounds of the 1960's. Beautiful, colorful backglass. One other cool feature is that you can win replays by points as well as spelling L-U-C-K. When you spell L-U-C-K you are awarded a "crescent", then the letters reset to be spelled again. The number of crescents needed for a replay are adjustable, as of course are the points needed for a replay.

Beyond the aspect that this is the first Bally game to use the feature, "zipper flippers" by the creative genius Ted Zale, the gameplay and artwork is completely solid.
In a time when most games used what was called "straight line" artwork, this title stands out as unique with its bold and colorful design by George Molentin.
He is underappreciated artist that did not participate in the art of as many games as he could have been.
This is only one of seven of the complete 19 library games that Ted Zale designed with zipper flippers (of the complete zipper flipper library of 30 games) that DID NOT have straight line artwork of the period.
The other notables are Fireball, Four Million BC, Joust, Nip-It, Dixieland, and Rocket III.
The game is straightforward, but rewarding.
Keep in mind due to its age, the backbox design is reminiscent of the Gottlieb wedge heads of the era before Bally transitioned to their standard square box of the late 60s.
The most difficult aspect is not only to keep the ball in play when the flippers are open, but manage to keep the one way gate open to be able to get another skill shot plunge from the shooter lane as there is no way to reach the rollovers again without accomplishing this feat.
In this respect this feature was reused in Bally's 1969 Camelot with an up down post for the same functionality for the "castle gate".
Another classic game from an age, most people no longer recognize.
The hardest aspect to find with this game is not the game itself, as I have actually two games being "Frankensteined" to build a single game.
It is the backglass that was made in crystal not tempered glass.
It has not been reproduced to date.

Fun skill shot, top roll switches/scoring is quite fun. The flipper gap feature is pretty cool. Had lots of fun on this one.

Bazaar is the first game to have zipper flippers. Between that and a great asymmetrical design by Master Zale... this game is a player!

The Pros:
Each game starts out with a brilliant bounced skill shot that will test your plunging and nudging skills. IF you get the center lane to open the gate, you now have to get that ball all the way up the PF using eeeeety beeeeety fleeeepers. Not an easy task. Do that multiple times in a single ball and I will be impressed. Fantastic shots that take that pinball all over the PF. Scoring the "U" mushroom target (STAT!) is absolutely critical to longer ball times and higher scores. Low angles with the slings mean that the ball is projected up the PF and away from the flippers, but also sends that pinball towards the evil outlanes with every bounce!

The Cons:
This game is super-nasty-hard unless setup properly. Flipper strength has got to be up to the task of getting that ball all the way up the PF.

The Takeaway:
A simple, yet never easy table that will always challenge the skillful. This game is not for the timid or easily discouraged. When you make this game sing... you feel like you accomplished something. And that is the magic that Master Zale brings to the game of pinball!

Update:
The playfield is cut in half by the mushroom bumpers. Lots to shoot for, but high risk at all times. Zip those flippers and learn to aim backhanded whenever possible. One of the best low angled "floater" games ever made. Enjoy the chaos!
