Baywatch is a fun game it has good rules, good sounds and music, and it has cool toys like the shark flipper flipping by itself and the tower.

Not a bad title from Sega, lots to shoot for. Lower right side of playfield seems crowded. Automated shark flipper is a nice touch, even if it's ripped off from Addams Family. Sounds are ok, nothing special. Cab and playfield are nice, and the game benefits from LED lighting.

Good Sega Game. Good Rules. Only negative is The Hoff on the Backglas and the bad Sega Sondquality

How much you love this game depends on how you feel about the Hoff. My wife would love to hassle the Hoff, so she loves it. 4 flippers and numerous shots make this a challenging pin. Unfortunately the theme turns off a lot of folks so it does not get as much play as some of the others. This pin may eventually make way for another title.

The layout of the playfield, the wireforms, and the modes are among the best in pinball. Some of the shots are super tight but adds to the challenge.

Fun game, another typical Sega game. The shark flipper can go to hell though. Silly thing.

The shots are defiantly challenging and tightly grouped. It's very fun going for the multi shot combos. I actually like the music and theme. It's more of an ocean/beach theme and everything ties into that well. I had to adjust my lighting over this game as it originally had too much glare. It was hard to play light out because of the constant flashing. I would say that's the game biggest downer. Defiantly some small glitches/ bugs in the code too.

Probably the most underrated game I have ever came across, I used to see these advertised at very fair prices an never took any interest till I played it, this game is fantastic an really fun for the whole family, very easy to understand , the playfield makes great use of all the all shots, 3 things to do per shot , collect a guard letter , collect a lifeguard then start the mode, all modes are great an score well, the end is fantastic with some real graphic clips, some of the I've ever seen, great multiball where you have to save swimmers from the beach, honestly everyone that played this game really enjoyed it an for a grasp on what was going on with in a few games, if you find one at a great price I wouldn't hesitate it's one of those games that people walk past due to theme, but it's got a lot more going for it than a lot of games out there!!

Yes it's cheesy, yes The Hoff is quite present on the backglass (although Pamela is too!) but this machine is great fun! So many shots and different ways for the ball to travel. Especially like the VUK and second shooter lane on the right side! great variety of shots, interesting rules (horizontal and vertical modes, starting modes in different places), nice music and callouts.
Awesome pin!

Update: chadH codeupdate puts the icing on the cake! Every software glitch (there were a few!) is taken care of, modes are tweaked, new sounds and callouts added, the nerve wracking GI switching before multiball is removed, scoring is balanced,.... it‘s just become a lot more awesome :)

Walked by this game at a friend's house several times and refused to even try to play it. I mean, "Babewatch" seriously? Finally played it one day and by the end of the day bought the game. Liked the play instantly. Now that I own it and have played it for awhile, love the game, one of the best I have played. Plan to mod it out and keep it. This game is one thing: FUN. I now like the theme, although never really watched the show. Fast game with lots to do. Multiball is great. I am not a "collector" of any particular game type or brand or theme. I keep games I like to play, period. Have never owned a NIB game because money is a consideration. That being said, this game is affordable for most folks, especially compared with new pins or Top 20 so-called pins and well worth the investment. Play one if you get a chance - and smile back at the Hoff on the backglass.

A great game with an odd but fun theme for a licensed title. The layout is spectacular, and the ruleset is nothing to scoff at either. The art (excluding the backglass) is good and so is the sound. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this game.

The fun factor and playability are my favourite parts of this pin. I could care less of the theme, it is what it is. But the array of bonus rounds, video modes, and the different shots are fun and it's an addicting game.
This pin is extremely underrated, it doesn't get the respect it deserves!
Edit: After about a year of playing, I love it more and more. Its a great layout and I love trying to hit the shots

Probably best playfield design whot I saw on Sega machine. Good rules, nice animations and funny details like shark and orange side flippers. Shame are cheap and cheesy looking art.

It looks like theme is problem for lot of people. I wasnt fan of BW series, but now its funny retro, so theme is ok for me.

I enjoyed playing this game. Great playfield layout and nice flow. The artwork was not so great but the game is solid.

Weakest part of this game is the PF art. Never watched the show but I love this pin. As fast & unforgiving as a 20ft great white. Just as difficult to beat. 6 players or team play. Video modes are a blast. She's a keeper.

Baywatch is the most underated pinball. 4 ramps, 4 flippers, 5 balls multibals. For me the most important on a pinball is the lasability and the gameplay for that reason i looking to buy a baywatch because in this price range its a deal. Its probably a deal beacause its a sega machine and the theme is not for everybody. I think we can compare baywatch with expensive 5k or 6k pinball but in baywatch you just dont have gadgets and toy.

Really underrated game. If this were put out today with a different theme, it might be a top 20 game. Tons of shots, pretty deep and very difficult. Theme could be better, but you just hav to laugh when you play it...cheesy Baywatch. People flock to it, great multiplayer game. Add a shaker and mirrors if you can.

I like the playfield layout with many interesting shots. Excellent theme integration. The big DMD is a plus (as long as it's working…) with good animations.
This game is begging for an alternative David Hasselhoff-free translite…

Baywatch is a machine with mediocre theming, mediocre DMD dots, weak cabinet art and a shoddy (typical of Sega) sound job. However, it houses an excellent playfield layout that requires the player to utilize a healthy combination of on-the-fly shooting, with slower, more methodical shooting. The rules are fairly linear but there's plenty to do here. The scoring is fairly unbalanced (as with many Data East and Sega pins, a good multiball will make up a large chunk of your points in a game), but the highest scores attained will usually be done through completing a wide array of other objectives. My only gameplay complaint is that the wizard mode is timed (like in Last Action Hero) and there's no way to extend it during gameplay--if you get to it but fail to make more than a few shots, it feels anti-climatic. It's one of the best Sega pins from a gameplay perspective, but it's not a Sega high point when it comes to the theme/art/dots.

*Edited 9/9/2015 - I have been putting a lot more time into this game recently and through learning a few flipper tricks (like letting the ball hop off the right flipper on to the left, from a right inlane feed) I have really been able to get control over the flow of this game and keep the ball in safety more often than not. If you don't play somewhat methodically, Baywatch can be very drainy. For those that appreciate some of the more methodical Bally/Williams DMD games (the Pat Lawlor games, for instance), you will enjoy Baywatch when you get the hang of it. I'd also like to note that my score/rating is rather low because Pinside puts a lot of weight on the theming, cabinet art, etc. Really, from a gameplay perspective this is an 8 / 10 or so.

I had the pleasure/pain of shopping and customizing this game for a fellow pinsider. First off, I do not believe it belongs on the "hardest to shop" list going around. Sure, a couple of ramps are a tight squeeze because of plastic placement, but not impossible. Sega put just about every feature they could think of on this one: Multiple ramps, Guard shack with trap door, phantom shark flipper, 6 player and fantastic light show! It also uses a giant wire form instead of a shooter lane, which really opens up the playfield to fit more things.
If Sega was going for the cheesy 90's feel, they nailed it! I watched the show sometimes, but it wasn't my favorite. So, the theme is what really takes away from the feel of this game in my opinion. Otherwise, it's a great game.

I've tried to hold tight rating this game until I've played a ton of games. I can completely appreciate some being turned off by the theme. It's certainly not for everyone. However, I absolutely dig this pin.
From the top, 4 flippers, 5 ball multiball, and six player option. There are plenty of shots, and locking the ball in the guard tower for multiball always is satisfying.
I had very high hopes for this game and it has exceeded my expectations. It always keeps me coming back for more and once you figure out your objectives, you soon realize there is a ton to do. Great pin for the price!!
*EDIT* Fun four flipper game. Didn't last all that long in my collection.

I had some high hopes about this title, since I had heard many comments about the game that if you get over the theme, it's quite good machine actually.

But it's not, unfortunately. The layout is amazing with so much potential, but the ruleset is boring and bad. The multiball is quite challenging and fun, but the rest of the ruleset is just uninspiring.

You have five major shots, and making one of them three times starts a "vertical mode". Then you'll be stuck in that mode for almost a minute without any stacking possibilities. At least the diver mode is worth playing, since it gives you EB.

The horizontal modes aren't that fun either, third of them being once again a generic DE/Sega "wizard mode" with unlimited balls for about a minute and then it's all over. Basically you can reach the wizard mode by making 15 shots and a lot of timing out of modes.

The biggest lack of inspiration might be the usage of upper ramp in the game. At least it's used in tidal wave mode, but in regular play you only collect ironman letters out of it. Collecting all these letters awards you a video mode, which sucks and doesn't award that many points.

The shot from right mini flipper to shark hole is quite fun and satisfying, and the shark awards make these shots worth going for.

The game really needs a strong right flipper or you won't be able to shoot the left ramp.
