Great theme. Would have expected more form the music. The movie has a great soundtrack....Hans Zimmer rocks it. Missed it on this machine.

Love Batman, and this is the best Batman machine out there (IMO). Love the theme, the crane, the shots. Only I do not like the joker figure, it is just cheap and meaningless. Saw one machine with a replacement for that, looked great but still, it is just a turning figure.
Rules are ok for a Stern from that era. I like SM more but you can have some good fun with this pinball. Not high on the wishlist, but would not mind to have one around.

Underrated imho. Possibly because I've modded with upgraded lights, music and toys, but I really enjoy the game. Could be deeper but once you start tinkering with it as a huo its a really fun game. Musts are sound changes and lights.

Pros:
Good layout, shots flow well with decent risk/reward
Nice toys
Good rules, except.....

Cons:
....having to shoot for the bagatelle gets frustrating and comes down to too much luck
Playfield art isn't quite as good as the translite
I think the code may be a bit lacking, but don't have an intimate enough knowledge of this one to be sure.

This game rapidly climbed my ladder of favourites and is already well in side the top ten, since i spent some time getting to know it on my way to writing this rulesheet: http://papa.org/wp-content/uploads/Batman-The-Dark-Knight-Rulesheet-English.pdf

ok, the theme is killer, and they used the best version in my opinion, and focused on the best part of it - Heath Ledger's Joker. it looks and sounds the dog's bollocks, it plays fast and fun, and it has a wonderful feature to it of shot doublers, that was also used in Spiderman but not as well (because the doublers aren't visible on the playfield as lit inserts).

i love my BTDK, it's up there with the very best Stern games (for me SM, LOTR, TSPP and BTDK). highly recommended in any collection. some cooldude wrote a rulesheet for it, look: https://papa.org/wp-content/uploads/Batman-The-Dark-Knight-Rulesheet-English.pdf

Batman TDK is fun to look at, and sometimes fun to play - but ultimately it ends up being a sluggish, awkward contraption. The crane shots are exciting and challenging, and the Joker shots are fun to hit. The see-saw on the left side is strange, as are the shots that go to the upper right playfield.

The playfield art actually bothered me, which never really happens - it was too realistic and somewhat distracting. Sounds weird, I know, but it happened.

EDIT: Played again recently - bumped my score up slightly, but I'm pretty sure TKD is maxed out now (can only go down from here).

I'd recommend giving TKD a whirl, but I wouldn't seek it out. However, I did get the impression that the game could grow on me, so 'll keep playing it when I can - maybe my rating will change after I've gotten over some of the cosmetics and weird shots.

This pin is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I'm glad I was able to add it to my collection. Every time I think I might move it I find another reason not to. Plus my kids love it so it's staying.

Just a fun pin to play, when you have more pins in your collection its ok, not for just one pin collector....thats my advice....the kids love it by the way!

AS Others have said, Voices are horrible. Music so so. Some of the coolest toys.

This is a really underrated game. I still wouldn't want to own one, too many moving gadgets that are prone to malfunction.
Besides the reliability aspect this game is very fun to play. Lots of toys, lots of stuff going on the PF and nice flow. The crane comes in and interferes with the play so I whacked the hell out of it which invoked some comments from the joker. Not much a Batman (movie) fan but the game has its moments. I highly recommend playing it if you have the chance.

Fun game and great theme. Good artwork/photoshopping, but the voices blow big time. Overall I like the game. Following the rules are easy to understand and the crane toy makes for fun shooting, but I wish it was something besides a crane... Game looks a lot better with some well placed LEDs. May update this once I have played it more.

WoW! WoW! WoW! After a few average comments I expected a maybe slightly above average game. I must say I was more than impressed by the whole package. Whether you like Batman or not this game is the most fun I can have on a pinball (excluding AFM)This game lives and breathers multiball which gets harder and harder to achieve as the game progresses. So it satisfies the novice by achieving some of the targets but keeps the more seasoned player entertained and challenged. This is my favourite Stern and I enjoy it much more than Ironman or Lord of the Rings. I sold my Williams IJ to buy it and I will never look back! Go the BATMAN!

I really like the Batman Dark Night franchise of movies. This game has the unique scarecrow mechanical crane that moves across the playfield, along with a batmobile that races below your pinball during game play. Great theme great game.

When I played my first game on this pin, it was so easy I became bored as my first ball lasted an eternity, and it felt like I was just going through the motions. The shots are not satisfying at all to me. The art for this game is indicative of everything that is wrong with Stern's photoshop love affair. Thankfully, Stern abandoned this trend. Just one of the bad run-of-the-mill Sterns of this era, along with Transformers, Avatar, and so on. I'm even a big fan of the movie, although not a comic guy at all, but this pin just feels like a real disappointment to me in every sense.

I recently had another go at a bunch of comic book themed pins and this was the best. I really enjoyed this one because it provided a lot of variety.

Really surprised how much I enjoyed this table, lots of good modes on it that were fun. Only bad thing I didn't like was the audio, especially the voice actors. Yes Its understandable they couldn't get the actual actors but they could have at least used the audio from the film.

Disclaimer: this review is based on playing the game with lightning flippers (highly recommend for this title).

Pros:
- in your face gameplay and rules for high intensity play
- awesome multiball stacking! Game is a complete gem with the rules and stacking
- the joker and scarecrow rules are great.
- fast on your toes style action.

Cons:
-call outs are hit and miss. I don't mind the fake actors, but some of the quotes don't fit well in the game
- music really isn't that great except for scarecrow mb and bat signal
- single ball play isn't that fun. This game thrives on multiball
- not a typical flow masterpiece game which isn't bad. It just doesn't have fast return ramp shots.
- code has some minor bugs

Overall:
Game hits on all levels in the fun dept. not so much during single ball play, but multiball play and stacking is over the top fun. Besides the lack of flow and certain poorly chosen call outs; the game is overall fun. The score in my review suffers the most with sound, music and especially quality.

This was one of the first pinball machines we got. It's a fun game and it has a classic, enduring character attached to it. The game can be difficult but it's totally awesome. The Joker multiball is the best part of the game.

Played this a couple times at the local movie theater. It's decent; but not awesome. The crane/wrecking ball thing is a bit confusing and interesting to try to figure out. In the end I didn't really stay interested in trying to figure out the ins and outs of the game... but would like to play it a few more times.

This is another good machine from Stern. When Stern misses, they REALLY miss. But when they hit, they knock it out of the park. This is a fun game with a balanced rule set and lots of good shots to make. Nailing the crane is especially fun.
