Bad Movie, Great Game

Batman Forever is a guilty-pleasure movie for me, before the franchise got really cheesy, then too hardcore. That being said, this pinball machine is a hidden gem. Such a wonderful layout, and being Sega’s only widebody, the layout, ramps, cannon, and spaciousness makes this machines replayability 5 stars. All shots, orbits, outlanes, ramps are like butter. Original soundtrack is tolerable, even moreso than, say, STTNG. DMD animations are top notch imo, especially with a color DMD. Backglass art is really nice, and pays homage to the original motion picture movie poster. Sideart is ‘meh’..I don’t understand why they have such random art on the sides, but I don’t sit and stare at it, lol. Art and lighting on the playfield are TOP NOTCH..and the green wireframes just add that much to the theme. I really believe that the movie, for a lot of people, ruin how awesome the machine plays..I bet it would be in the top 50 if it were an ‘acceptible’ theme to most..in my case, it hit the ball outta the park. I will never get rid of mine!

Picked this up a few weeks ago and instantly liked it. I have the regular DMD but will probably go ahead and get the colorDMD. The modes are great, flow is awesome, the colors and lights really pop, the metal ramp that loops around below the flippers and back up into play is pretty fun. I haven't had guests play it yet, but I know they are going to love it.

The best of the Batman games. Have owned a dark knight one and didn't really love the newer Batman 66 version.
But I love this one. prettiest machine in my collection. And I love the ramps

I consider this game a "guilty pleasure" for myself. I actually enjoy playing it the times I get the chance to do so, but can't justify purchasing it. The ramps and loops are a lot of fun. Other than the quite lovely Dr. Chase Meridian, the art work is just meh (especially seeing the terrible Robin/Chris O'Donnell & Two-Face / Riddler camp ... not even the "good/fun" type of camp like the 60's Batman).

Bought this game with the intent of cleaning it and flipping it for something I really wanted. This game is highly underrated and is a great game. While I was shopping it out I watched the movie. Movie is sub-par...
Game is great. Maybe because the movie is not the greatest it reflects on the pin?
I really like the Batcave, I like the ramp that comes around the front apron. The sound effects are great.
The bat wing ball shooter is a lot of fun.
We ended up upgrading to LED lights adding a couple spotlights and installing a color DMD. After all of this is installed the game is really that much better. The extra light makes for a better game play. The color DMD is amazing and a necessity. Especially with the DMd games.

Great theme, and yet somehow still underrated. I'm not sure if people haven't heard of it or have yet to play it, but this is a hidden gem.

If you are a Batman fan, this is a "must" own.

This is an enticing looking game with a bunch of bright green ramps. It is a fun wide body game. The biggest detractor is that you spend a large amount of time watching it vs flipping it. The ball stays fairly busy without you.

Great game for the price.
Cabinet art is a slight let down. But that's a minor issue.
More importantly the playfield art is actually good compared to other DE/Sega games.
Make sure to upgrade the backbox speakers to 4" coaxial ones. Easy to do. Best 30$ you can spend. Stock speakers will hurt your ears.
You might also have to do something about those flipper coils (at least to the right one), because you can rarely make the left ramp with the stock ones. And it will be impossible after two games when the coil has warmed a bit. How did this end up in the production like this?

A bit difficult for new and average players. Very narrow shots and ramps.

I can't believe I'm saying it, but Batman Forever is quite awesome. This is a very loaded game for the money it would cost to buy one. The movie was not my favorite (far from it), but the pinball is definitely one I would flock to play repetitively if it were readily available to me. I don't think I will ever look to own one just because there are so many other games I really, really want, but really, for the price of one, I can't completely exclude the possibility. Again, this pin is easily for 3 grand given everything in the playfield. I thought the game I played was modded, but it was stock, and it has more going on than most Pro and even some Premium Sterns these days.

I didn't understand how to put up big scores on this game until I watched Bowen's PAPA tutorial on Youtube, coupled with a strategy from a comment made on Buffalo Pinball's streaming session. It all makes sense now, and when played with accurate shooting and keeping the ball under control, you can have a lot of fun with this game and put up some good scores. The ramps are almost always ready to be hit wherever the ball may be--action can be fast and flowing, but there's enough time as the ball travels through a ramp to plan the next shot.

The sounds are in stereo and sound good, though like most call-outs they can be repetitive. Lighting is fine after adding a spotlight above the right slingshot. I kinda regretted parting with a nice Demolition Man since it also has good flowing ramp action, but this fills the void nicely for me.

I have owned this game for about 2 weeks. It is my first Sega/Data East game and I am digging it! It is my first widebody and DMD- solid game! The DMD Rooftop challenge is fun and the ramp angles keep you on your toes. I can not wait for the color DMD to become available this year as it will really add to the overall coolness of this game. After reading about DE/Sega games on this site, I was not sure how I would like this game. I can say with confidence that I would own another D.E./Sega game without reservation. The family is enjoying it and it is keeping me up late at night playing “just one more game”....

Cool widebody design. Really is the poor man's star trek with the 3 ramps. 20x bonus is a little imbalanced. The ball lock is pretty sweet. The game is fun but I'm not sure if it has the lastability.

You know that girl who is exactly what you would expect? This is Batman Forever. I expected a fun, fast paced game with a wonderful theme and this is what I got. I particularly enjoy the wide body and having a young Nicole Kidman on my pin doesn't hurt!

Yet again like a lot of SEGA games overlooked and underrated, easily one of the best games to come out of SEGA. Tonnes of shots to make on the playfield with a couple of unique feeling shots in there, if the theme had maybe been Batman Returns this game would get a lot more love.

Very fun machine to play especially if you enjoy a lot of ramp, ramp combo, fast pinball action, hot pop bumpers and changing targets. If you like slower pinball, this game might not be for you, but you will love it if you like fast action. You do not need to be a Batman fan to love this game.

There are a lot of targets, 4 Ramps and two orbit shots that can be tied together in loops that are well integrated into the modes, and themes. You need to be alert for missed shots; they can come back at you very quickly.
The game is tied very well into the Batman Forever theme on the layout and on the DMD animations. Very colorful lighted game, but a little on the darker side in the upper play field. Many game within game modes (i.e. 7 Themed Gotham Events with DMD and Playfield Integration, Batwing, Roving Lighted Batwing targets that lead to Circus Countdown, 3 and 4 Ball Multiball and finally a very hard to attain Forever Mode). Some times a little clunky with some shots that don't register (ie the minicamp).
Overall this machine is an excellent value for the cost relative to many machines out there. Assuming COLOR DMD comes out, this will make this a really nice machine for the money and open up options for replacing an almost unobtainable DMD.

Not my favourite, but its a pinball to play on

Difficult shots abound on an open & fast flowing PF. Timed objectives are insane. Don't change the flipper coils, learn the sweet spots after you've dialed this KGBeast in. Best Batman pin in the biz. Batman stays forever in my collection.

This game is much better than it gets credit for, there is a ton going on, the movie was so so, but they did a great job with the theme on this one, lots of ramps, and challenges in the game, oversized DMD, fast, and just a fun game to play, with easy to understand rules, it is great for beginners and a challenge to beat for seasoned players, best Sega ever, and deserves more credit than it gets, I can see a point where this game is 5K to get one..

Batman's playfield is beautiful. The overall artwork is quite nice on this despite being made for a horrible movie. I truly enjoy the flow of the game. Balls can be quite long but are enjoyable as there are a lot of rules and tasks to this game. Lighting could be better. My workaround was to add an LED strip behind the back playfield plastic and that's helped a lot. Sega got it right with this affordable pin.
