One of the games I regret letting go. Like many Gottlieb wedgeheads it's great at looking very simple while being nearly impossible to master. I love the asymmetrical sling/flipper area and the drop target combos. Looking for another one.

Unique layout for my collection (mostly wedgeheads). Very challenging, and probably one of the toughest to win extra games on for me. Gotta have tough ones in your line up, and this is one of mine. The bagatelle, along with the 5000 point 'double' drop target scoring, gives a very nice variety of play. Others can wax more poetic than I, and believe them. This would arguably be a game that would keep your interest in a 1-2 pin collection. Few games I would say that about.

this game is a beauty, hands down. Fabulous colors, and the artwork is nicely done. However for some reason, this game just doesn't really do it for me... I love parts of the game, but it just doesn't provide that "have to come back for one more game" feeling like other EMs, and I'm a drop target guru. Fun game to restore though, Gottlieb quality shines through.

This is the game! The reputation preceded it and it boy did it deliver when I finally was able to play it.
The rules are to eliminate the the 1-9 number sequence to light your specials. There are 4 ways to advance to the next number:
First way is the follow the bagatelle on the right side of the playfield 1-4 and 6-9 (the 5 is located on the left outlane when drained)
Second way is to shoot the ball through one of three lit rollovers at the top
Third way is the nail one of three lit standup targets that are turned on and off by a star rollover.
Fourth way is to clear all ten drop targets.
What really sets this game apart from any other Gottlieb drop target game is the 5000 points that are awarded when you drop two targets at once. What a rewarding feeling when that little 5000 point light comes on!

Great game. Personally I prefer Centigrade 37 as it has the similar bagatelle but with a lot more to do on the left side of the playfield.
Art is beautiful and it's a solid player.

Gottlieb Atlantis is almost the perfect game for me. It has a fantasy theme coupled with a unique layout.

It has drop targets, stand up targets, pop bumpers and a bagatelle. The only thing missing is a spinner and an add a ball capability.

What I love best about Atlantis is the feast or famine aspect of a game. During one ball, you can be nailing all of your shots. You are progressing the numbers at a good clip and you feel confident you are on your way to rolling it. The very next ball, or three, end due to the huge right outlane, the sneaky left gap that feeds the left flipper or simply a mistake. Your awesome game goes kaput, and you are angry enough to play one more game!

That's the beauty of Atlantis. It has that special "one more game" mojo.

The one unique gimmick is the 5,000 point drop target shot. This is earned when you drop two adjacent drop targets with one shot. I really enjoy this unique gimmick. It really adds quite a bit to the strategy while playing.

In my opinion, Atlantis is an amazing game and I believe every pinball player should have the opportunity to play it for at least 2-3 hours.

I really enjoy the rule set and theme of this game and this game is a fun challenge to play. There are tons of reasons this game is a top 5 game for any serious EM collector. Theme, playability, ruleset and artwork are gorgeous.

You have a side bank of drop targets. They score for either 500 or 5000. If you hit a white and blue drop target together then you will score 5000. If you hit all the drop targets you will score 5000 points as they reset. There is a bank of rollovers 1-9. 1-4 and 6-9 are at the far right with the 5 target being one of two rollovers behind the left slingshot the other rollover scoring 1000. You will score either 500 or 3000 for each roll over (500 when not lit and 3000 when lit). You have to advance the numbers 1-9 by rolling over them (when lit) in numerical order. There are three post targets that you can hit when lit (two star rollovers labeled "Targets On" and "Targets Off" determine this) or three rollovers that alternate on the top when hitting the top slighshot that scores for 500, that will advance the current rollover target to the next number you need. After you have rolled over #9 while it was lit after doing so for 1-8 then the special when lit will light up. There are 5 specials that can reward the knocker knocking loudly and getting another game on the credit counter. One method is dropping all the drop targets after you have completed 1-9. One method is the 1000 rollover behind the left sling shot. The other 3 will be the 3 stationary targets that will be either on or off depending on if you hit the two star rollovers labeled "Targets On" and "Targets Off" This game rewards trapping on the left flipper and can punish for trapping a ball on the right flipper due to the roll over wire not completely covering the right part of the apron creating an exit hole for the ball to roll over. This game is a 1 player re-theme of a game called "Sheriff" from 1971. This remake took a good game and made it excellent by not only making it a one player game but also the balance of having no return gate Vs. escape hole in the right ball return lane.

A great design with attractive playfield artwork, but a pretty bland back glass. The games rocks if:
a) you put yellow dot coils on it b) bridge rectifiers on bumpers and c) wax it to death with the addition of new rubbers. It really is a very good game, with not that many having been made. 10 drop targets all coloured either white or blue with a shark design on them, 1 through 9 numbers to get to a difficult special. The 5000 points awarded when hitting two drop targets simultaneously makes this a very fun game. This game would have really benefited from an extra ball somewhere on the design, alas this was early 1975 and a Gottlieb. I was lucky enough to find one with less than 16,000 plays. looks and plays like I recall back in my teens.

Really like this game. Great use of drop targets and fun trying to get numbers 1 through 9. Artwork kind of lets it down though. That said would buy one for the right price.

As close as you can get to perfection for me, except the cabinet art.

This is my favorite EM from head to toe. The art is great, it's my favorite playfield layout by far. I'd love to own one.

Desert Island pin? Perhaps, def. top ten. Nice asymetric layout is unique for EM. Theme/artwork is great!

Atlantis is one of the best EM pinball games I have ever played. Atlantis is one of the best pinball games I have ever played.

The Pros:
The same pf as lawman, but with updated rules and a single player game. This game is all about how well you play with the balls you are given. No extra balls or outlane gates here. Hitting 2 trgets at once scores 5k, which is a good bit of an awarded score for this table. Chasing the 1-9 standups/ rollovers require that you move that ball all over the PF. Make sure to hit the lit standup/ rollover for #5! The art package is not over done, but is just right for the theme. This game is the epitome of that "One more game" quality that will separate you from your hard earned quarters!

The Cons:
That open ended inlane by the right flipper keeps on getting the best of me... I know it 's there. I just can't stay away from it sometimes. The lefthand lanes are no joke either. Must focus on pinball control skills! I missed the chance to own one in 2010... will continue the hunt until I have one in the stable!

The Takeaway:
A damn fine pinball game in nearly every electro-mechanical way. Great artwork, table design and a few subtle changes to the rules from it's previous incarnation make this table a keeper. These changes made up for the multi-player sickness that plagued some of Gottlieb's most righteous layouts. Playing this game and then going back to Lawman/ Sheriff is simply not an option. In the multiplayer designs (Same for El Dorado and it's multiplayer versions) of this table, you hit that last drop target and it STAYS DOWN! Psssssssssssssshhh... you can hear the air escaping the tires on what should have kept on being a fantastic game. Gameplay immediately drops off the side of the earth. FEEL THE PIN_PAIN!

Now Ed Krynski designed Lawman/ Sheriff which in themselves, are really great tables. But wouldn't you know it... Brenner did the unthinkable, he improved on the work of Master K!

Update:
Game acquired! My EM grail quest is complete! I don't know of ANY other game that requires you to aim "between" two targets to maximize your scores. Time to brush up on my pin-fu!

Update v2:
This game never gives up! You can have the game of your life on this table and then... your next game gives you the Camel Clutch ala The Iron Sheik and MAKES YOU HUMBLE!

This is a great game, and has always been one of my favorites! The fact that I'm very good at it, and was able to win some games from the first day I started playing it really makes me like it all the more.

Dropping 2 targets from the bank on the left side, with one shot scores 5000 points, which is great considering that 100K is the score gauge for turnover. Here comes the tough part! You'll be getting a lot more replays from goal scores than you will from the Special! You need to go through the sequence of 1-9, IN ORDER, one at a time to light the Special. A real tough goal to achieve!

Probably one of the best playing GTB wedgeheads.
