I hate giving this game such a poor rating but unfortunately, at least on the game I own, this game plays terribly. This is a historic game as it is the first machine to have scoring reels (A feature ahead of its time...Williams produced a few more before scrapping this idea for a few years before bringing it back. There actually only 3 reels as 3 are stationary and fixed on zero). It has a great theme, as the Army Navy game is a classic even to this day. It has lighted goal posts on the playfield which is kind of cool. The rules are pretty good too as you try to score points and move the football down the field (via lights on the playfield which move in 10 yard increments). The artwork on the cabinet is excellent also. However, the major problem is that the ball drains too easily down the sides. I played 30-40 games before I finally threw my hands up and took the game down to put up another. Often times a game can change dramatically with some tweeking on the playfield but I had all new rubbers on and this did not help. The problem with the design is that there are 3 outlanes on each side of the flilppers and they all drain the ball. This game is collectible for nostalgic reasons and for historic reasons but if you collect for gameplay you should try others. Also keep in mind that this game has impulse flippers (you cannot hold the flippers in the up position and they both go up at once with the push of either flipper button), like all Williams flipper games before 1955.
