Going to make the plunge on a Zoltar or something similar in the near future. Any thoughts on other options, or which Zoltar to get?

Also did the Big version ever get made? That thing was amazing but I couldn’t pull trigger on the pre buy model.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Just snagged the Deluxe version for a great price last month. Such a fun machine.

Lucky! I don’t see a deal in my future but we will see.

Just set up an auction alert on Liveauctioneers. They tend to go surprisingly low.

What happened with the company that was making authentic Zoltar replicas as it appeared in Big?

    #8 1 year ago

I only know of the zoltar company that makes fortune tellers now. But they dont open their mouths to get the quarter like in big.

So I officially bought a Zoltar sort of. We own a wholesale distribution company of mechanical locking hardware and got the opportunity to have a “Locktar” built. Locktar will be made in my dad’s image (founder of the company)and will visit trade shows, giving advise and fortunes about locking hardware and making future purchases from our company.

I will send pics as the project develops but it should be pretty fun.

My dad's sculpture. I did have this one changed a bit but this is the only side by side I have. Characters Unlimited has been great to work with.

“Locktar” should be done by the end of the month.

Here is the print add for our security show.

No one seems to be into this project but I certainly am.

First rendition of custom fortune cards.

Even better entirely paid for by our vendor out of co-op funds.

I don’t know. I think the trim may be just too white.

I almost pulled the trigger on one of these but I have enough shit to dust off already.

I pre-ordered one of these a while back for "only" $79. Not expected to be here before Q4 '23... so I'm not holding my breath. It was something that I have no place to put, but I thought it might be a cool thing to find a place for in my game room.

Thanks, after getting some opinions I think the white will be alright. We are doing a custom neon sign, and locking hardware in the cabinet. All of this should break up the white.

It was just a lot when i first saw it.

I had these screen grabs in my photos. Looking back I wish I had ordered one!
Op it’s awesome that you used your fathers likeness.
I also think the white looks fine.

Yeah, I was gonna pre-order one too, but like I said, I have enough shit to dust off. Even for $79, which sounds totally reasonable.

Honestly I almost pulled the trigger on this but from my understanding the project was never completed.

If I would was misinformed I would love to know because it was simply amazing.

$7500 seemed like a lot of money back in early 2019. Now with NIB pins costing $9-13000 it doesn’t seem all that bad! I’d love to know if the machines were made. The attention to detail was pretty impressive.

Locktar has been a big hit.

Solid on the customer side but even bigger with out of box thinking on the vendor side!
