Hi everyone,

So i'm trying to fix an issue where when I press the "new game" button, the score motor turns, and then the 15A fuse (24v side) blows about 2 seconds after and i'm not sure if the score motor is actually done it's rotation.

i'm not sure if this a related issue but when I turn the machine on and leave a ball, it sounds like it's continuously trying to eject it in the plunger lane but it's not. The fuse still blows if the ball isn't in the machine. I've checked the coil with a multimeter and it seems good.

So i'm basically trying to figure out from the schematics what parts I should be checking but I'm not familiar with the lingo of the relays.
I found the schematics here: http://www.zaccaria-pinball.com/em/universe/Zaccaria-Universe-Schematics.pdf

thanks!

This is most likely caused by a bad coil. Look through the game for a browned or blackened coil. Since this is happening at start up, you might start by looking at all of the score reel coils, the credit unit stepper coil and the player unit stepper coil.

You were right! Found the bad coil!
It's for the hole up relay

I'm not sure what the numbers mean but It's a M-25 400 coil and the schematics say M-29 1000. Would that cause it to burn out more easily?

Pinside for the win.

Never seen a Universe in person, any pictures?

Can you share a photo? A 25/400 coil is not typically what you might find for a relay.

Here is the coil I took out

Back glass is flaking a bit but the playfield is in great condition

What makes you believe its bad? Now that it is removed, has the game stopped blowing the 15a fuse?

When I put my multimeter on it, it was showing 0.5 ohms and fuse isn't blowing anymore!

Haha I was thinking the same thing when I looked at your collection and saw the ten stars!

Thanks so much for your help!

Sorry I can't answer your other questions. My game is not set up due to a move, but assuming my game has a relay. I can check the coil designation. I may need a day though.
