These people were supposed to be experienced pinball and arcade movers. really aggravating. here is the meat of it.

    you: no

SarahB: if not what is the name of your company and phone #

    you: no company

SarahB: I would be more than happy to work up a quote for you. Did you also know you can go online and use or dimensional freight quoting where you will get the best competitive rate around. would you like the link?

you: are you not well versed in pinball machines?

SarahB: I do apologize, I do not understand your question

you: someone suggested your company was experienced in moving pinball machines, yet im getting all these preformed responses that are not applicable. I just really want a shipping quoe

    SarahB: sure

SarahB: I will be happy to work you up a quote, but be advised that my rate will be most likely Higher than what you can obtain online

SarahB: what is the zip to zip please

    SarahB: what is the L W H

SarahB: is this business to business or a residence

SarahB: do you need a liftgate or do you have a means to get in and off the trailer

SarahB: what is the zip to zip please, what is the L W H, is this business to business or a residence, do you need a liftgate or do you have a means to get in and off the trailer

you: yes to liftgate service, it would be a blanket move

    you: 02908 to 43560

SarahB: what is a blanket move?

    you: 48*22*42

    you: really?

    SarahB: yes really

you: it's a pinball machine, wrapped in a moving blanket, on its legs

SarahB: we do not provide blankets

SarahB: you need this packaged and ready to go

you: im sure if you do not know this, you will not give me an applicable quote, do you have somebody that is experienced?

SarahB: Is there anything else I can assist you with?

you: can you get me to someone that can help me?

SarahB: as I stated we do Not provide blankets

SarahB: anyone I transfer you to will advise you of the same thing

SarahB: we stopped doing that years agoi

    SarahB: ago

you: didn't ask you to, buy you are not familiar with a standard shipping term.

you: so yeah im sure you would provide me with the highest rate you could come up with

SarahB: Is there anything else I can assist you with?

you: no, transfer me to someone , a supervisor, that can

    SarahB: no problem

    SarahB: one moment please

Please wait while I transfer the chat to 'SusanN'.

You are now chatting with 'SusanN'

    SusanN: This is Susan

SusanN: This pinball machine would need to be crated or banded to a skid or YRC will not pick this up

you: Susan are you a supervisor or experienced with moving pinball machines, you were a referral from a client, but this is proving difficult

you: then you would want it on a 22x22 pinball pallet

SusanN: This would need to be crated or on a skid

you: what is your rate for the pinball pallet

    you: shipping rate, quote

    SusanN: what is the weight

    you: 250 lbs

you: are you still with me?

    SusanN: yes

    SusanN: $1273.13

    SusanN: Quote# 78474984

SusanN: You may be able to get a cheaper rate by logging in to myyrcfreight.com

    SusanN: and click rate

SusanN: and again YRC will not pick up unless this is crated or on a skid

SusanN: Is there anything else I can assist you with?

you: I new it would be the highest quote on the planet with all the attitude.

SusanN: I have not given you any attitude

SusanN: Is there anything else I can assist you with?

you: the previous agent did and you are at least 900.00 higher than the other 3 quotes, you just don't want the business, but at least I can publish this chat.

I went to Pizza Hut and ripped them a new asshole when I tried to order a hamburger. I mean, they sell food, right?!?! You guys wanna hear about it?

    #4 4 years ago

You got the wrong shipping co. You need North American Van Lines or STI.

    #5 4 years ago

This lady is an agent for STI (Specialized Transportation Inc,) some people say NAVL or North American Van Lines out of habit, she used to be but is not anymore affiliated with NAVL. Do not call North American Van Lines.

    Call:

I'm confused.. Why would you even ship a game with the legs on? Isn't that asking for trouble? And it can't be that hard getting then off??

They wrap it in blankets really well and carry it out on its legs and strap it in. We it's a very common practice and works great for shipping games that are used and not boxed / palleted.

Okay, but what's the big thing against simply taking the bolts off the legs and folding the backbox down?

    #12 4 years ago

And having the game sit on the floor of the truck? Sounds terrific.

    #13 4 years ago

Op, If you can strap it to a pallet, message me for a quote.

    #14 4 years ago

I'm not trying to start an argument, just really confused. To me, having the backbox rip off is a bigger risk than getting the bottom of a cabinet scraped up. But, then again, I move all my games nyself, so..

    #15 4 years ago

This is how STI/NAVL ships games. It works fine about 98% of the time.

Wow, talk about obfuscating a very simple situation.

I had an old TAF shipped from Dayton, OH to Grand Junction, CO. It took me maybe 15 minutes to go online, punch in the starting and destination address, give the standard measurements of a regular pallet (48 x 40 x 6.0 - still remember it even w/o Googling it), the weight of 335 lbs (machine plus pallet plus a lil' extra to be safe), and got a quote of $150. Printed it out, took the game to their freight location, and they put it on a pallet FOR me, strapped it down (I had about 30 layers of plastic already on it from my own packing job), and off it went to Grand Junction, CO, and it was seriously one of the absolute most simple processes I have ever had with shipping a game. That was for "Accelerated" service too - not even just regular ho-hum standard freight service.

There are other options than the over-priced $400+ services that this community seems to cling to.

    YRC_Quote_Dayton_to_GrandJunction_(resized).jpg

And a picture of the game as it headed off to Colorado. They even packed it for me. It's like Patrick Swayze said in Roadhouse "Be nice...."

If I am interpreting their policy on their website correctly = yes.

    #19 4 years ago

Very nice! I think the biggest worry about the pallet way is that the standard pallet doesn't cover a game from end to end so you have to create your own somehow. I've bought one game shipped from NC to UT on a pallet via Fedex freight and it was cheaper than STI and arrived safely but it wasn't that cheap and the guy had to "make" the pallet.

Obviously as a seller there's nothing easier than STI, but the price is and has been just getting up way too high.

That means no. Key phrase in their weasel wording is "up to $25/lb". See the thread on the AC/DC Back in Black LE destroyed during shipping a few months back. I think the shipper was offered $3/lb or something equally ridiculous.

LOL! That reminds me... I think 2012 on our way home from the Pacific Pinball Expo we stopped by McD's... The order went like
    "I'd like a milkshake"
//sorry our milkshake machine is down//
"Ok, I'd like a large fry"
//uhhh.. Sorry but were currently changing the oil//
    "Fine give me a hamburger"
//wellllll... We sort of ran out of beef//
    "Uhhhh...... This is McD's, right?"
    .... And so on....
Lol, we'll never forget that location.

My company, InXpress, has excellent supplemental insurance for shipping pins. Only $55 for up to $10,000 coverage no matter if you ship with us or not. Message
    me to get set up.

I do not mean to take away from your post, but I simply can't resist. 16 years ago, and I still remember it due to the "WTF?" moment of the duck speaking.

I'm no lawyer, but just scanning through the YRC legalese, looks like coverage above the $XX/pound is gonna cost you--
"Apply a rate of $4.75 per additional $100 of coverage with an $85.50 minimum"

So, a $4K pin is gonna be $190 for insurance.

Maybe I got lucky :/. I dunno. All I know is it worked out for me. YMMV.

    #26 4 years ago

It seems that lately, you can buy your own insurance much cheaper than from the freight company.

Good luck with YRC, please contact me if you have any further questions.
They will only pay pennies on a dollar for a claim.
This is a before shot and when YRC delivered my 2 arcade games to my house. They did not bother to strap them against the side and the driver took a sharp turn and knocked them over. The straps were still attached to the inside of the wall unused.

games made it safely from Conn to Pontiac Michigan. Then they reloaded onto another truck and the driver figured they were only going 15 miles and did not feel the need to secure my games.

YRC addmitted fault for both games being totalled (damages exceded cost of the games). YRC then claimed that their contracts have a "Tarriff of Liability" clause on them, so used equipment is paid at a fraction of the amount I just bought these games for. I received $250, after pushing more, I also received my transportation fee's refunded which was about $350 so a total of $600.

I still can take them to small claims court but I really dont want to waste my time. I can not find much information on a "tarrif of liability" and how it applies to me and how well it would hold up in a court of law especially when the shipping coming is admitting fault.

Sometimes a discount is not really a discount........... just my 2cents
